Something is amiss in the city of sin. In a town known for it’s love of glitz and glamour, ugly realities are starting to come to light. The seedy underbelly is feeling the shockwaves of impending supernatural war, as Madame Colette, a dark sorceress that lays claim to a city wide criminal empire fends off the advances of Baron Giovanni, a White Court lord with designs to seize power in the wake of the fall of the Red Court. Taking control of Las Vegas, he reasons, will secure the first stepping stone to that success.

But as tensions rise between the rival factions, still other problems emerge for the already abused supernatural community of Las Vegas. A murderer is on the loose, killing small talent practitioners and mutilating their bodies- draining them dry of every drop of blood while still alive and then leaving them bare and hung by rope to be found by passers by. As the mortal authorities flounder in an attempt to catch the budding serial killer, and the local Paranet chapter strains it’s resources to the max in an attempt to keep their people safe, the Wardens remain to taxed and engaged in the power vacuum abroad to step in and bring the Warlock to justice.

But it isn't enough to stop the indulgence and decadence that infects the city. The wealthy and powerful gamble, drink, and party more than ever, while the outcast and down-on-their-luck huddle together in the streets. Fear and paranoia are reaching all time highs, threatening to boil over into sheer chaos-even in non magical circles reports of ghosts or zombies are no longer scoffed at out of hand, and in magical circles no one is sure who to trust anymore as more and more of their own die horrifically at the hands of the Warlock, and still others flee to beg protection of the Baron or the Madame, entangling themselves in one war to avoid another. It is no longer a question of if violence will erupt, but merely when. But that is not enough to stop, some brave, good souls, from trying to stem the tide of coming disaster...

This is an RP for Jim Butcher’s fantasy/detective series The Dresden Files. Running on the standard rules of the Dresden-verse, you will play not as Harry or one of his allies, but as a magical (or non-magical, but somewhat in the know) citizen of the city of Los Vegas, which aside from the mundane usuals, is faced with supernatural crime and terror.

The city, like most the Dresden-verse post-Changes, is rapidly approaching the breaking point. The destruction of the Red Court Of Vampires has left the White Court as the last vamps standing, and in appropriation with this, they seek to seizure control of the Red’s old territory and build themselves an Empire. The local Crime Lord (both magical and mundane) of Vegas, Madame Anya Colette, is quite frankly having none of that shit and is making a stand against the White Court leadership. Their not-quite-war is attracting all manner of supernatural nasties who think the Madame's rule is about to fall, and want to edge out their own niche power base. Among them is a dangerous and mysterious Warlock, who has begun praying on the local small talents and murdering them in a dark ritual.

With the Wardens still busy cleaning up after the fall of the Reds it’s up to the smaller faces to deal with shit storm that is about to be Las Vegas, to catch the Warlock, avert the war, and save the innocents....Or not.

Who your character is, and what their goal is, is up to you- are they a local not-so-small-talent out to do the right thing? A power mongering Warlock not fond of the competition? Are they a trusted officer in the criminal outfit of Madame Colette? A ambitious part of the Baron’s expansionist initiative? A local police officer out of their depth? A creature of the Nevernever interested in taking advantage of the situation? No holds bared, their is only one rule- they have to be interesting.

This is the template for character creation, fill it out (in depth! Remember: INTERESTING!) and post below to await acceptance. You can copy/paste if you want to, or use Google Docs and link.

The actual RP will be pretty standard post-by-play rules. I’ll be incorporating bits and pieces of the Dresden Files RPG books (assume everything in them is canon in regards to lore and game rules) as I see fit, but you don’t have to read or know about them in order to play. More on this will be in the discussion post when we get that far.

Alright, 'ere goes. I took the same high concept as my maybe/maybe not fanfic character and used it as a template:

Name: “Jarl.”

High Concept: Monoc Intern

Template: Emissary of Power (Sorry, can't help thinking in RPG terms.)

Trouble: Hel to Pay. Alt title: The Goddess of Death Has My Number.

Background: “Jarl,” as he prefers to go by, is one of a few people in Scandinavia with genuine Viking blood flowing in his veins. Unfortunately, this means he’s bound by an ancient pact made between the Vikings and their gods - ascencion to Valhalla, or Hel, after death - which also included him being “clued in” to the supernatural world at a very early age. Having a hot temper and a talent for violence literally embedded into his blood did him very little at his young age, and most of his life was plagued by constant fighting with others, even before his powers manifested, leading to him being further ostracized socially. Having nearly perished in a way that would have landed him in the frigid, cold underworld of Hel, he was saved by Donar Vadderung in return for his service as an intern in Monoc Securities, giving him both a job where his natural talent for violence could come in handy, as well as a community around him that is “clued in” to the supernatural. And, of course, royally pissing off a goddess of death who hasn’t had any visitors in quite some time. Maybe not the greatest situation to be in for a half-baked wizard.

Personality: Very straight-laced and to the point, trying to act focused and calm under pressure. Has a tendency, like many of his ancestors, to solve problems with violence rather than other means, even if such are available and would be much easier. If he’s made a mistake he’ll be quick to address it and take steps to either correct it, or prevent anything like it from happening in the future, not necessarily dwelling on it overly long, being very much focused on the job, or at least feigning that attitude to the best of his ability.

Appearance: An athletic youth of maybe eighteen or nineteen, medium height, light brown hair and blue eyes, and a nose that shows obvious signs of having been broken more than once. Usually seen in a light blue flight jacket and a matching pair of jeans.

Job Class/Expertise: Magic user, primarily relying on water and wind magic. His faith in the Norse gods and their mythology also gives him a certain partiality towards lightning. As an intern with Monoc, knows some rune magic and has been trained in close combat with swords.

Skill Strengths: A capable fight with a sword, though no match for a more skilled or focused swordsman, and a practitioner of magic with a lot of untapped potential.

Skill Weakness: Very much a jack-of-all-combat-traits. A swordsman, but without the level of training that a more trained swordsman would have, and magical power, but without much control, leading to him being overly careful about when and when not to use his magic, and how much of it to use. Has absolutely zero skill with any kind of firearm, having grown up in a country with strict firearms laws.

Powers/Abilities: Go-to weapon: Replica Viking sword.

Spells: Ríða (Wind) : A gust of wind, varying in strength (comparative to Harry’s “Ventas servitas” spell.)

þrumði (Thunder): The proverbial nuclear option, basically a bolt of magical lightning that leaves him completely and utterly drained.

hlíf (Shield): A weak shield spell.

lǫgr (Water): A bolt of water flying at a target at high speed.

Items/Tools: His sword, a spell focus (a ring on his left hand,) a pendant with a drop of his own blood mixed in with that of his employer, Donar Vadderung.

I was gonna work on a Warden for this but it looks like you'd rather not have that happen. So I figured I should check before I continue working on it. Yes to the warden or not? If it helps he'd be a pretty inexperienced Warden.

Excellent! Accepted!

Hm...Monoc Headquarters is a pretty long way from Las Vegas. Do you have an idea of why he's kicking around Sin City? Since he works for a Mercenary Firm it might make sense that one side hired him for muscle...

For now I'll align him as "Independent", if you want him on a particular side let me know.

[up]

No problems with a Warden character, as long as he's young and inexperienced like you said. The entire goal of this one is "shit hits the fan, spectacularly". I really want to explore the consequences of the Red Court's destruction in "Changes", and one of those the Council being spread paper thin trying to clean up Harry's mess :P.

Name: Alexander Thorne

High Concept: Ambitious Agent

Trouble: Trustworthy as a snake

Background: Alexander Thorne is is a childe of Giovanni (if that’s allowed. If not, some other White Court.), a spy, assassin, and general wetworks man who plays a journalist by day. The reporter badge is great for getting inside a place, and once he’s in, he can work his magic. One of the younger sons of Giovanni, he had a fairly typical life for a member of the white court, showed in wealth and privilege. His first victim was a woman he met in college, a girl he might have fallen in love with had he been not more concerned with getting laid for the sake of his reputation than anything meaningful. Sometimes, when he closes his eyes, he sees her face. He’s far from tortured about his role as vampire however. He feeds well, and frequently, though only rarely to the point of killing a victim. Rarely isn’t never, however. Giovanni was pleased, in fact, in how readily he embraced his nature. Over the past few years, he’s been a rising star in the local White Court, and some whisper that he even means to supplant Giovanni as local leader. They’d be entirely right. All Alexander needs is a way, and he’s convinced that all of this will belong to him.

Personality: Alexander is driven, and intense. He’ll crack jokes, and smile, but his jokes carry an edge, and often seem to be meant to cut. He’s the sort of person who has trouble with downtime, always has to be doing something, learning something. He’s superficially charming, and very manipulative, though not as good as he’d like to think. He tends to be pragmatic, putting his own goals, and self preservation over any ideals.

Appearance: As with most White Court, he’s very pretty. It’s a perk. He’s a little shorter than average, around 5'9 (I'm not convering that into metric), with shoulder-length white-blond hair bound in a tail, and blue-grey eyes, and a swimmer's build, some of the benefits of being a White Court. As with the rest of his family, he has faintly Italian features. He's got a predatory, intense sort of handsomeness, thin face, high cheekbones. He uses his looks as a weapon, and has an easy, practiced charm. He usually dresses in various dark suits, all expensive, and hand-tailored. He wears glasses that tint in the sun, though he has little practical need for them.

Job Class/Expertise: White Court Vampire.

Skill Strengths: Very good liar/manipulator. He’s also developed a skill with improvised explosives, and aside from using his Hunger, he tends to fight by rigging bombs, or molotov cocktails. He’s an average shot with a pistol, and with the help of his beast he can handle himself with a knife, though he’d likely lose against any practiced warrior.

Skill Flaws: Clearly not good at magic. Not good at hand-to-hand combat or swordsmanshi, really. He has to fight dirty, and rely on his natural speed and strength to make up for inexperience.

Powers/Abilities: Items/Tools: Usually carries a camera, and a press pass. Has the usual white-court powers. He tends to feed on lust as well, as it’s the best way to manipulate his victims. When on a job, he carries a switchblade, and a silenced H&K Mk 23. When things get really tough, he tends to break out the pipe bombs, molotov cocktails, C4, and Reutech Striker 12 gauge automatic shotgun.

'Nother independent for you, at least until he learns what the factions are.

Name Terrence Talbot

High Concept Sneaky Guard Werewolf

Trouble Curious as a Killed Cat

Background Terrence's parents were something of a Bonnie and Clyde couple, except that their criminal exploits involved less violence and an utter lack of being shot to death. The family considers the latter difference to be a direct result of the former. The duo had their brushes with the law, but by the time of Terrence's conception and their subsequent move to legal employment their only conviction came from Terrence's father being caught with a sixpack and a bag of weed at age nineteen. They currently make a comfortable living as security consultants. Terrence was raised to be able to do well in the family business, with the side of effect of ensuring he'd do quite well if he took up the old family business. He had no other real life plans until his twenty-second birthday, when Megan Cooper, a family friend who'd never exactly gone straight, gifted him with an old book that "fell off the back of a truck." It purported to contain instructions on magically changing oneself into a wolf. It was exactly the sort of thing Terrence got a kick out of, but he never expected that it would actually work. All Megan could tell him was that she found the book in an unattended suitcase in Vegas, but that was enough for him to take some time off of work to go do some digging. Hopefully he'll be able to find enough independent sources of information to be able to tell when one of them's lying to him. Luckily, he fell in with the Paranet in short order.

Personality Terrence is a quiet, loner type, more comfortable around books and animals than most people. Under normal circumstances he'd avoid the gaudy cacophony he thinks is Vegas like the plague, but he can't resist the lure of finding out more about genuine magic. He does his best to stay properly calm, professional, and wary, even when on the inside he's fanboying over the magic and weirdness. Despite his best efforts, tends to wear his heart on his sleeve. He's basically optimistic about human nature in general, and will be very skeptical about claims that all members of a group are monsters. After all, how many people would say the same about thieves? In wolf form he's actually more outgoing than as a human, doing his best Big Friendly Dog impression.

Appearance As a human, his height is average, his weight medium, his ethnicity uncertain, and he's generally a nightmare to try to describe to the cops. It runs in the family. Since discovering that werewolves don't get to transform their clothes, he's started dressing in easily doffed clothing such as sweatpants and sandals whenever he can get away with it. As a wolf, he's a big, shaggy specimen that seems incapable of keeping his tongue in his mouth.

Job Class/Expertise Werewolf and security consultant

Skill Strengths Knows quite a bit about burglary, forgery, and grift, and how to protect oneself against same. Even in human form, can handle himself acceptably in a street fight or bar brawl, but no martial artist or crack shot. When properly motivated, can keep on ticking in defiance of weariness, hunger, injury, or common sense.

Skill Weaknesses Awkward with the talky word people thingy, unless he has a story planned out in advance. Ignorant about the supernatural world to the point that he probably wouldn't be considered clued in if he couldn't turn into an animal on command. The existence of vampires will be news to him, much less all this business about Courts. Too straightforward to have much aptitude for the subtleties of underground politics.

Powers/Abilities

  • Shapeshifting into a wolf, with all the sensory and combat abilities that come with being a large canine.

Items/Tools

  • The book that started off his quest. Besides directions on shapeshifting, it provides information on other forms of werewolf, making them the only exception to his ignorance. If he's lucky, its original owner won't find out he has it.
  • A necklace with a wire sculpture that looks more or less like a wicker man. It conceals a full set of lockpicks, just in case.
  • A suitcase full of samples of just about every substance any supernatural critter might be weak to.
  • A set of kevlar-and-steel body armor fitted for his wolf form. Leaves most of his head, limbs, and tail unprotected.
  • Vali's old spear. He has so far not managed to make it do anything special, but you never know.

  • Name: Gabren Daindred "Black Blade" "The Blood-Soaked Knight"
  • High Concept: Modern Magic Knight
  • Trouble: "Escaping Second Place"
  • Background: Gabren was born into the old and very respected Daindred Family, a group of prominent magic practitioners, though one with a quite unusual genetic "curse", if you will. While the Daindreds are often incredibly skilled Magic Users, they are almost always second place in comparison to the most powerful Mage of the time period. Thus, there is a heavy pressure put on Gabren, virtually from the day he could walk, as he was the first born son. There are some rumors that the family might be running into problems in terms of getting worthy heirs, which presents even more pressure on Gabren. He was taught magic and swordplay early, relentlessly and some might say abusively. Gabren became quite a child prodigy, but became worried that he was still not good enough. At age 14, he sought out a Red Court Vampire simply to kill it for the sake of killing it. He barely succeeded, a fact that still frustrates him. After he became eighteen, he was given a magic sword created by his mother Morgana, Arfeudutyr. And now, two years later, he's in town, deciding to prove himself against whatever foes he finds, as well as doing his duty as a Warden of the White Court.
  • Personality: Despite Gabren seeming open, kind and friendly, this attitude of his covers for an incredibly insecure, volatile personality. He has a humongous inferiority complex, possibly moon sized, and compensates for this by trying to be the best at anything he comes across. He even tries to be a playboy simply so he can potentially love the most beautiful of women. He tends to get angry if people surpass him, and if someone claims to be the best with ample evidence, he gets even angrier. He has a very Black And White sense of morality, and tends toward rash decisions in the wake of this. While he is a man in pursuit of justice, he can tend to get a little too devoted to this idea of justice. And lets just say if the Council tells him to do something, he'll do it. One could even say Gabren cracked due to the pressure his family put him under. Needless to say, he is quite corruptible, though this is something he vehemently denies, as he fashions himself the paragon. He can be a little clueless when it comes to the newest technology, like the i-phones and such.
  • Appearance: Gabren is a handsome young man, angular and fair faced, with few blemishes. He has somewhat wavy black hair, cyan colored eyes, and a very nice smile when he chooses to brighten up. He is tall, and very muscular, having even gone and done some bodybuilding previously. There is evidence he is very meticulous about his appearance. There are actually two scars on him, both from his attack on the vampire, one on his oblique, and the other on the front of the shoulder. He wears a kevlar long sleeve shirt, and a strange white armor over it, two shoulder guards, kevlar gloves, a shield arm guard, khaki pants, and steel toed boots.
  • Job Class/Expertise: Magic Knight, basically. He is a magic user who is partial to using magic that can make him stronger and faster, in order to play on his strengths, including his swordsmanship, which he has trained extensively in. He does know some fire and lightning magic.
  • Skill Strengths: Gabren is a strong swordsman, and a very skilled magic user, usually weaving the two talents together, using this together with his mother's Enchanted Gear she created to protect him in order to launch lightning fast attacks.
  • Skill Weakness: Gabren is, as I covered, somewhat crazy. He tends to get a little out of control in a fight, and can tend toward showmanship and demanding that his foe "show what they can really do." He can end up doing some really freaking stupid looking stunts in pursuit of being acknowledged. And while Gabren is very skilled indeed, he relies on his gear to defend him from projectiles, which might not work so well on higher level spells, which means he has a huge weakness here. He also tends to be very wary around vampires, and to his shame, even tends to become afraid or run from them if sufficiently startled. He is also a still growing magic user with little practical experience outside training, and tends to make "novice errors".
  • Powers/Abilities:
    • Arfeudutyr: A magic sword his mother Morgana made for him. It was created using esoteric and (maybe) not so legal methods, and deals more damage against things Gabren himself considers "wrong". It can be used to focus Fire Magic.
    • Expedite +: A spell used to increase the user's speed. In order to activate it, the user recites "I am as lightning" and then traces from the peak of the forehead to the top of the chest, and then forms a cross at the middle.
    • Incrementum: a strength increasing spell.
    • Fuego: Creates a strong, destructive flame
    • Galvas: Creates an electric arc that flies forward and only forward. Medium strength, as it were.
    • Shield Armguard: Used as a focus for a powerful forcefield.
    • Enchanted Gear: His armor has been enchanted by his mother to protect him from projectiles, though really strong ones, like high level spells and missiles can still hurt him.
  • Items/Tools: A silver pendant used to focus his Lightning Magic, Arfeudutyr, his shield armguard, and basic utilities.

Question- you put the high concept as "Sneaky Necromancer". Did you mean "Sneaky Werewolf" or is that the long-term goal of where you want to take the character? (Just checking)

Just a Clarification- you said he answers to the White Council, and you describe as a lot like a Warden, without ever actually calling him that. Is he just a White Council Wizard with a hefty sword arm? Or is he a Warden?

@Nick

Right, the issue with that is I already have one person with a Warden character planned- and the impression and background for this one is meant to be that the White Council is taxed to the limit abroad after the events of "Changes". I want to keep the (official) White Council presence to a bear minimum wherever possible.

Would you be open to having him be the partner to Kosjurake's character? Or else being part of the situation unofficially/independently?

  • Name: Nadya Zolnerowich
  • High Concept: The Hammer Thief Hammer Time
  • Trouble: Hunted by Gods In Over Her Head
  • Background: Nadya was born in Stalingrad. Her mother died in childbirth and all she knew about her father was that he was a soldier. A year later, on her first birthday, the Soviet Union fell, but she didn't notice a thing. When she turned ten, she ran away from the orphanage that was raising her and fell in with a gang. As a part of that gang, she learned how to steal. By her 19th birthday, she was an accomplished burglar, the best in her gang. Around this time, she heard a rumor of a strange man (sometimes the story said woman and sometimes it said group) was asking around for good thieves to try an impossible theft. He, or she or them, had been visiting numerous cities throughout Norway, Sweden, and Denmark. So far, no thief managed to complete the task, but many had tried. According to the rumor, the group or person was going to start asking around Russia. On her 20th birthday, the group or person came to Stalingrad. She was approached through a shopkeeper who said he was hired by someone else to give her a meeting place to take the job. She took it eagerly. She went to an abandoned warehouse for the meet. There she met a man with two almost impossibly large bodyguards. The man referred to them as trolls, but she thought he was being metaphorical. The man was congenial and polite, but there was an air of deception and ferocity about him that she couldn't shake. She also couldn't help but notice that he was extremely attractive. He explained the job to her. It seemed simple enough. She was to break into a company based in Oslo at the time when the least number of people were in it and take something from the highest security vault in the place which the mystery man had the code for. He warned her that some of the previous thieves had died in the attempt. Half of the reward would be paid upfront half of the 30 million rubles (about a million dollars) and a free trip to Oslo. When the man handed her the needed documents, his hands felt cold. She quickly gathered her stuff and headed for Oslo.

In 5 days time she found herself in front of the company she was told to rob. She hadn't been told the name, just the address, so she made sure to check what it was. Monoc Securities. Hesitant about the job now that she knew it was a security firm, she began casing out the place. She found included in the material some of what previous thieves had figured out and some of the problems they had faced. After a month of casing the place, she figured out the perfect time to break in and how. She began her break in. First she used the pass of an intern she had pickpocketed to gain access to the place. Inside she managed to avoid most of the guards through a combination of memorizing their patterns and a bit of luck. Eventually, she found her way to the vault. This is the part that was supposed to be impossible, even with the code as, the moment the code was put in, the head of the company got notice. The problem wasn't getting in, it was getting out. She had a plan, though. She had managed to steal janitor clothes, and hoped to get in and out of the vault as fast as she could. At that point, she would changed clothes, snag a janitorial cart, hide whatever she was to steal (she was told it was the only thing in the vault, in the cart, and spend time wandering Monoc Securities, avoiding the sweeps, until they thought the thief managed to leave. At that point, she would actually leave. The plan was risky and could easily fail, but it was the best she could think of. And, so, she broke into the vault. In the vault, at the very center, sat a simple hammer on a podium. She was taken aback, for a moment, but recovered quickly, snatching it and leaving. She managed to avoid suspicion for 10 hours hiding within the building in plain site, with a couple of close calls, before the search of the building was called off. However, during that time, she saw some stuff and overheard stuff she could hardly believe. The guards seemed to be almost inhuman in their abilities, and she heard talk of fairies and trolls and other such fantastical things between the people working there when they discussed who could've stolen it. However, one person was mentioned again and again as the perpetrator (whom she suspected was the man who hired her), though none assumed he did so directly since he would've never made it in successfully. The name she heard was Loki. It sounded familiar, but she didn't know from where. Eventually, she left with her loot.

Finally she was able to actually examine it. The hammer was beautiful and she couldn't believe how light it felt to her. After staring at it for an hour, she decided that she didn't need to give it to her employer, this "Loki" person. The 15 million ruples was more than enough. As such, she decided to return to Russia, and tell him it was a failure. However, she changed her mind when, just outside the airport, she was confronted by "Loki"'s bodyguards. She told them she didn't have it, but they seemed to know she did. Offhandedly, she sarcastically referred to them as trolls, thinking back to her meeting with "Loki". They merely grinned at her, and it dawned on her that she never saw anyone as tall as them, and Monoc seemed to talk about trolls seriously. They weren't just being called trolls, they were trolls. They approached her, demanding the hammer, and she hesitantly took it out, afraid of them, all of a sudden. But she couldn't just give it up! She had stolen it fair and square. In a moment of bravery, she swung the hammer. It seemed to move almost on its own, viciously upper cutting the first troll, then kneecapping the second. The two collapsed to the ground, and she stared at the hammer in amazement. It hummed almost with approval. She decided that returning to Russia wasn't safe, so she used her 15 million to make her way to America. She stayed low, avoiding Monoc and this "Loki" person. Eventually, she found herself in Las Vegas. There, she decided to stay until she caught wind of anyone coming after her there. Soon she heard of the different factions forming under the Baron and the Madame. She avoided choosing sides hoping the chaos that would come of their confrontation would allow her to hide for as long as possible. As such, she hoped to trigger the war and keep it going, her greatest tool, to her knowledge, being her beautiful hammer, though she had yet to figure out how to work it beyond simple combat.
  • Personality: Nadya is smart and devious. She doesn't trust anyone any more than she can pay them. She distrusts authorities, especially the police. She enjoys a good time, and loves playing Poker (which she cheats at). She breaks rules and can be reckless.
  • Appearance: Nadya is short, skinny, and nimble. She has short black hair and green eyes. Her skin is pale. She wears inconspicuous clothes, generally, and carries around a simple backpack.
  • Job Class/Expertise: Burglar, and pickpocket.
  • Skill Strengths: Excellent liar. Nimble mover. Great at disguises. Great at moving silently and picking locks. Seems less dangerous than she is. Above average brawler. Excellent dodger.
  • Skill Weakness: Weak physically. No magic. Little knowledge of the supernatural, and is still trying to rationalize away the trolls she fought.
  • Powers/Abilities: Increased combat ability when wielding the hammer.
  • Items/Tools: Mjölnir, aka Thor's Hammer Zhazhda Krovi, a hammer of the gods. A backpack she keeps stuff in. A little over half the half a million Loki paid her upfront.

[up] Aaand we have a convenient reason for why Jarl is in Sin City. Obviously he's looking for the thief of Mjöllnir.

Still not embarrassing enough to stan billionaires or tech companies.

I actually thought of your character during the creation of mine. I mean, I got my idea independent of yours, but I got the idea that she'd steal the pass of a Monoc Intern from your character.

[up] That could also work. He's being sent out to atone for his mistakes.

Actually, it could work on another level entirely. In Norse mythology, Loki is imprisoned beneath the earth because of his crimes against the Aesir and Vanir, and him being set free is a sign of Ragnarok. Maybe Jarl is also being sent to ensure that -if- Loki has been freed, he won't go off and kickstart an apocalypse that might level Western Europe.

I actually didn't mean that she had stolen your character's pass, but the thought had crossed my mind.

That could work. Keep in mind, Nadya knows pretty much nothing about Norse Mythology. She doesn't know about Ragnarok or Loki or Thor. She doesn't realize she burgled from gods.
