I don't see the diffenence between this trope and Luke, I Am Your Father.

Long-Lost Relative is about the sudden appearance, Luke, I Am Your Father is about the reveal.

The way I see it, Luke, I Am Your Father is a subtrope of Long-Lost Relative where the relative is a parent. The pattern of the former is strong enough to make its own subtrope, rather than be merged into the supertrope.

Actually the description of Long-Lost Relative suggests that the relationship is not revealed immediately.

There is no "actually" in that statement. Neither me or Duck's description sounds different.

Luke, I Am Your Father is a subtrope, basically.

I don't think action is needed.

Rhymes with "Protracted."

Perhaps Long-Lost Relative should be merged with Family Twists Index if it's a subtrope?

No, that is just a general index about relationship reveals. Long-Lost Relative is a character trope.

It's a valid trope so it shouldn't be merged into the index. In turn, the index shouldn't be merged into it because the index is broader still. I'm not seeing anything to do here.

That was the amazing part. Things just keep going.

There is no action needed here. The tropes are distinct and healthy. They are hurting nothing. This is just taking up space.
