Yep. It's freedom vs familiarity. What do you guys want?

Well, if it's 5 years before Aang awakens, there probably will be a timeskip to when Aang does awaken.
But my vote goes for 50 years, really.
I'm fine, either way, as long as we can meet Iroh!
"You're an enemy of art and I pity your ignorance" - Domingo Montoya Help save the rainforest for free simply by going to Ecosia.org.Hum... actually, in hindsight after reading through the timeline a little bit, I think I'd prefer the five-years route. Familiar enough for newcomers should they decide to join up later, and easy enough to research for those unfamiliar with the show at all :)
I could go either way and add my support in for possibly encountering Iroh at some point. Be it older siege-laying Iroh or (presumably) teenage heart throb Iroh.
Avatar from: http://x0whitelily0x.livejournal.com/5953.html N: 5 F, 0/40 SIt's an interesting question.
We can do 50 years and have way more freedom regarding plot events..
..or do 5 years and hear more of the exploits of the far off avatar..
Thinking about it, 5 years is better.
My vote is for 50 years. I'm not familiar enough to feel a difference, and "more freedom" means "less blunders".
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I'd prefer 50 myself.
Less stressful on keeping up.
Great, so we got people wanting 50 and people wanting 5....
I can see where the problems with the 5 year route might arise, but again, it's not that defined in the Avatar timeline. It's pretty close to how the world was when the show begins (bar some differences, like the fact the Southern Raiders haven't tried to eliminate the last Southern Waterbender, so we can have those) but it also allows for some kind of freedom.
And in the 50 year old route, there really isn't anything defined, so while that might be a good thing, it might end up being a bad one when it comes to world events yada yada.
Egh, tough decision... am I to believe that those who prefer the 50 year route won't join the RP if I go for the 5 year route, and vice versa?
I'm good with five years.
Five years is also acceptable for me, but I might make some mistakes in that period.
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I am fine with either.
I'm ready to help you in case any problems arise.
Well, I have decided on doing it 6 years before Aang awakens. It's still the same thing as the 5 year route, but... we do need some time for them to travel and arrive at Ba Sing Se before the siege, don't we?
That's the basic idea, which means I'll work on the signup sheet and get a thread up soon.
By the way, we know the group's objective, but where will they start? My idea was of starting on a village in the coast of the Fire Nation that gets attacked by the Navy after they discover that there is a high number of Resistance members there. The plans for the siege gets revealed to our little group and they have to escape the city. How about that?

That's perfect! Nice, simple, straight-forward. I can dig it :)

Excellent
The graceless warrior, wielder of the edgeless blade, prophet of the old religions, writer of fluent nonsense, saviour of soul and song.A-maze-ing. Anyway, I'll create the thread tomorrow. What shall we name this?
"The Plot-Benders and the Iroh's Last Siege"
Yeah, I'm half-kidding here.
Rather than smart, I'd prefer to be wise. It would let me be silly more often.I'm interested!
"The Last Siege" sounds fun.
So, Strat, this is the Avatar RP you've been talking about? Looks like there's already a good bunch of people willing to work with you on this. And while I've already stated that my knowledge of the Avatar world is probably not as good as that of the other people in this thread, it would be a pleasure to join this campaign.
Yay! I know I said I'd create the thread today, but I went to see Flight... so... thread up tomorrow, I swear!
Well as far as I can see, there was nothing of importance between 50-75 so we would have lots of freedom, or we choose the 5 years and work in a more familiar environment.
