[up][up]Bismuth knew Rose would have react completely differently to her escaping. Bismuth also disregarded that on the totally spurious grounds that Steven agreed with Rose instead of her.

[up]But Steven's attempt to heal them worked better than Rose's.

We're just nine days from a new episode and still don't have a single confirmed episode title. That feels like a new record.

[up] So... does that mean you agree with me that Bismuth saw Steven as a wholly different entity than Rose? I'm sincerely not sure.

But how do they know that's not just an act, too? Or that him telling them about Pearl's memory isn't just some trick, just like the staging of Pink Diamond's death was a trick? I'm just saying, learning that one of your closest friends lied to you for thousands of years is something that could lead to severe, even irrational, trust issues.
At that point why trust that he's telling the truth about Rose either? They trust him enough to believe he's telling the truth, it's doesn't follow at all for that trust to flip against him based on it.

[up][up]I think Bismuth really did see Steven as separate from Rose by the end, and will continue to do so once she's released, but she's definitely not better at seeing it than Garnet, Amethyst, or Pearl.

For those who haven't noticed, the last episode finished the second theme song that's been building since the start of season four.

I'm curious when we'll know the song's name, and what will play in the rest of the season—it may stay the same for a couple of episodes, but there are eight left. Unless that's not really the end of it.

Assuming it really is complete (has that been confirmed?) A lyrical version would make sense.

The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.

No official comment, but it really sounds like it's done.

A lyrical version would make sense.
How do you sing to that?

If anyone’s confused, the titles going around are leaks (from misseps, a frequent source thereof), thus discussion goes in the other thread.

[up][up] A BSOD song? It feels very much like a song that could portray someone in a state of anxiety or mental turmoil.

Are those waves part of the song? They could be using them as an interlude to the final act of the song.

As for a use in universe... I could see it as a background track to another evacuation. Homeowner's coming back with a lot more ships, everyone is panicking, Nanefua and her agents are trying to lead, some of the boardies want to stay and help while the Gems want them to get to safety... Something like that, I think.

Unrelated random thought:Was watching a clip from sleeping beauty and the colour scheme of the three good faeries floated reminded me Sapphire, since there's a Blue Sapphire and Pink/Orange Sapphire the next one could be Green/Yellow

A BSOD song? It feels very much like a song that could portray someone in a state of anxiety or mental turmoil.
It sounds more like immediate tension leading up to an action sequence—most similar to the music when Emerald was threatening to fire on the Sun Incinerator.

And maybe I'm showing off musical ignorance, but I was asking how someone could sing anything to music that fast.

Since we're about to get more plot for Ruby and Sapphire soon, I had some fun going back and rewatching all of their episodes. They're stories are still some of my favorites in the whole series.

It's really interesting how, given what we've recently learned, Ruby and Sapphire's relationship can be in many ways seen as a counterpart to Pearl and Rose's, especially from Ruby / Pearl's point of view - but more of a success while Pearl and Rose had issues that neither of them confronted. Both were literally born and bred to be cogs with little regard for their own identity or purpose, something that both of them show residual issues with today. Both were inspired by the person they loved most dear, nobility who inspired them to be more than they are. Both channeled the devotion that was drilled into them onto that person instead, but learned to see that devotion and themselves as a whole as more than simply a new master.

The key difference between them is probably the reason why Ruby seems more well adjusted than Pearl is even after most of this time. Pearl never really broke out of her role. She was loyal to her Diamond, from beginning to end. And, even when leaving Homeworld, she never stopped - she never had to stop, until Rose died. Ruby was loyal to Homeworld: even when saving Sapphire before they truly fell in love, she was acting against her role, and Sapphire's saving her in turn caused them both to throw those roles out the window completely, leaving them more prone to break off those standards. So Ruby was able to grow, even if she still has problems here and there.

But Pearl only really lost that crutch when Steven was born, which is why she shows so much improvement between his birth and the present day, but also still hasn't confronted the things that Ruby was able to thousands of years ago.

That said, it also makes things like Sapphire - out of anger - apparently making a dig at Ruby's intelligence during their fight as we see in the upcoming promo. There's the impression in Keystone Motel that Ruby makes a habit of slamming her intelligence, given Sapphire snapping at her for calling herself stupid, likely because Rubies are expected to be dumb and she's internalized that to an extent. It really shows how anguished Sapphire is, given that she's otherwise defensive of Ruby being put down.

Looks like we got some wedding crashers.

I'm finding myself more distracted by Onion wearing the top half of a tux with his hair slicked back and Ronaldo just wearing his chest plate with a bow tie. Like, Ronaldo, you are at a wedding, that is very inappropriate attire.

Fair point. It'd be kinda funny if someone mentioned that In-Universe and one of the Gems just went, "Meh, who cares?"

Does anyone else here find the idea of a Ruby and Sapphire wedding... a little silly?

I mean, they've been going steady for thousands of years. Are we really not supposed to figure they're already in some equivalent of a common law marriage?

Not at all. It's actually a nice way to start a new chapter of their relationship after their falling out.

And I mean... Greg and Rose never got married. I kinda considered Ruby and Sapphire to be the equivalent of those couples that date for like a decade before actually getting married.

I dunno. There's... something that kind of rubs me the wrong way about the idea that they need a wedding ceremony to validate their relationship after they've already been literally inseparable for thousands of years. Like, when you have a relationship that close and enduring, what does some Earthling ceremony add to it?

Probably Steven or Connie's idea, maybe as a PR move to bring gems and humans together. A fun little activity.

Then the Diamonds murderously crash it.

Whelp, so much for positive PR.
