My two favourite themes are Melted Metal and Silent Gravity, both from the first game. They stuck with me for a long time and I used them as custom tunes in Tekken Tag 2.
By the way, am I the only person who liked Greg from the first game? He was a gorilla! And his hat fell off when he fought! What's not to like? I often wonder why he wasn't brought back for the sequels.
I'll admit that with the sole exception of Rubber Lover, I didn't take too much of a liking to the Beastorizer arcade soundtrack. I've never been able to place my finger on it, but something is always off about the stage themes to me.
I can't say anything about Greg. In my admittedly limited time of playing BEASTORIZER, I haven't found a single person that liked him, and this may or may not be the reason why.(VOLUME WARNING)
I would've liked to see him, Mitsuko, Hans return in the future games.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.Don't get me wrong, I'd much prefer to see Mitsuko rather than Greg and Hans any day. Stun took Greg's place as the grappler of the series (and does a better job at it), and Hans is essentially Jenny Ver.1. Despite that, I still think it'd be nice to have them all in one game.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I remember Stun as being my character of choice in this series, though around the time I lost my disc I was trying to learn Bakuryu.
For some reason, Busuzima is my favorite character. Even though I have absolutely no interest in using him at all. I think it's the name combined with the fact that his look really doesn't immediately mesh with is backstory.
"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I played a bit of Bloody Roar 2.
One thing I do not understand is why Hardcore Fighting Gamers hated this series so much.
It might be a bit spammy at times, but it's pretty damn fun, all the same.
Watch SymphogearFURRIEZ HUR HUR HUR.
Hardcore fighting game fans hated it? You must be talking about the competitive ones, I know several fighting game fans IRL who have fond memories of it.

BR 1 isn't as button mashy as I remember it.
Goddamn that voice acting, though. Alice sounds worse than Soul Blade Sophitia.
Still love Yugo's "You're lucky it wasn't a full moon tonight!" line, though.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.I'm almost embarrassed to admit that it took me until now to realize that the reason Stun's costume in BR 2 looks so stupid is because he's fighting in his underwear!
And it only took 15 years to find out!
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.I remember once in fourth grade we had some kind of free day but we still had to show up, so I took my PS 1 over. I beat someone pretty bloodily with Yugo and shouted from the adrenaline "Try that blood!" (I got laughed at and didn't care).
Good times.
Bloody Roar 2 is best Bloody Roar.
And Shina is best character. Damn can she wreck shit with a well-timed power punch. Bloody Roar is one of those few fighting games that really give oomph to your attacks; sending a 500 pound insectoid abomination flying across the entire battle arena after landing a solid hit? Crazy Awesome.
Bleye knows Sabers.Truer words have never been spoken. Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster.
I don't know, I thought Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee did a pretty good job of giving attacks "OOMPH"
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatThe fact that you need to scale it up to Kaiju size to get a similar effect shows just how well Bloody Roar did it.
Inorite.
Bleye knows Sabers.@ Shirow
I wholeheartedly agree. Shina is the best! Despite being a female Gado, She left me with a good impression in BR 2 and has continued to grow on me throughout the years. Definitely my favorite character in the series.
I probably love her QCB+P more than I rightfully should. Just the sound of her shouting FIRE!! and you opponent flying backwards just never gets old to me.
Also, does anyone else call her Marvel? I usually don't, but I can't resist a good "IT'S MAHVEL BABY" every now and then.
Don't ask what's wrong with me, because I don't know either.True. There's something to be said for the visceral thrill of uppercutting a 500-ton mutant into the Sears Tower, though.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great-GODZILLA GEEK SYNAPSE ACTIVATED-
You are vastly underestimating how much your average Kaiju weighs Of course I probably overestimated Stun's.
Strong Arm Bazooka? That... Really fits, especially with her whole Military theme. I'm calling it that. Actually, I think I'll go through her movelist and see if we can't find more we can give names...
Bleye knows Sabers. You also can't fight in Chicago in that game. I was being facetious.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the GreatSo I'm guessing that I'm the only guy who liked Bloody Roar 3 then? Yeah, some of the characters had some REALLY broken basic combos (Uriko's human form having the worst of the bunch), but it played and looked far better that Bloody Roar 2's antiquated graphics (even for back then!) did.
BTW, did anybody figure out just what the hell was Xion's "Unborn" beast mode supposed to be based on? Only thing that comes to mind is a cockaroach due to the antennae, but even then that doesn't explain the metal body and (admittely awesome) carapace-like design.
Eh. It was just some MMPR-esque monster thrown together to look cool.
Honestly once they stopped making animal-based characters and just tried to be X-TREME GUYVER FINAL BOSS the character designs suffered IMHO. It reeked of Special Snowflake Syndrome.
Bleye knows Sabers.Well Uranus was a chimera which fits with the beaat thing still but I assumed Xion was a demon or something.
He was still pretty cool looking. Better design than Hans still lol.
I wish they made a Bloody Roar 5. This series was definitely underrated but unfortunately after that abomination called Bloody Roar 4 I'm not surprised they pulled the plug on this series.
You know what could have sunk the franchise further? Robots.
Of course, don't you know anything about ALCHEMY?!- Twin clones of Ivan the Great
Feel free to talk about anything Bloody Roar related here.
I only ask that we don't talk about BR4 (or at the very least, as little as possible). I'd like to wipe its existence from my memory.
I guess I'll kick off this thread with saying that the music in the games hold up pretty well, and I especially like The '80s rock motif that Takayuki Negishi has done with the console ports.
My favorite song in the series (as of this typing) has to be Lust in Peace, I always have this overwhelming feeling of nostalgia whenever I listen to it and the song itself carries a feeling of accomplishment. As of the fake BR 5 announcement and Hudson being no longer, it's also picked up an added feeling of "ending the series on a high note," as t'were.
On a side note, I've been playing BRII on PSX and the game itself has a lot of depth to it than most give it credit for (if any at all), there's some dexterity required to perform the kara-cancel juggles into Beast Drives, and while I'm not on that level, I'm slowly getting there.
