@Phil: Heya Phil, long time no see. By the way, might want to remove the { } from those HTTP links, 'cause they're making them not work.

Anyway, assuming I'm not too late, I'd like to announce my intentions to join in.

I've already decided I'd like to play a redshirt/mook type of character instead of a main. Also sticking with real games, but given the types of characters I'm going with they'd essentially be OC Stand Ins. Now, I'm a little torn on which to go with, especially since I don't know if the idea I want to do most will be acceptable; since it's not one, not two, but an entire group of characters, technically. (That, admittedly, would be almost useless one by one, so they would mostly stick together except for certain puzzles and such.)

So, I'm looking for some input on these. In order of the one I want to do the most and going down from there:

  • A small group of Pikmin, from Pikmin 2. (I'm thinking about 11 of them, perhaps with the possibility of obtaining more along the way?)

  • A grunt from the Halo series. (Reach, if it really makes a difference.)

  • A marine from Aliens vs Predator. (The new one.)

  • A zealot from Starcraft 2.

@ Firock

All of the above characters would be acceptable, we'd love to have you on board as any of them!

Well, if the Pikmin are acceptable then, I'd love to give them a shot.

... Hmm, guess I'll have to come up with my own info sheet.

  • Name: "Group of Pikmin", or, "Those Pikmin", or, "The little guys". It doesn't particularly matter, and if they do have individual names, they can't really communicate them to other people. Sometimes they get nicknamed by the people they go with.

  • Game: Pikmin 2

  • Appearance: A random assortment of little plant humanoid creatures, roughly a foot tall save for the purple ones being a bit bigger and the white ones being a bit smaller; all have a sprout on the top of their head that ends in either a leaf, a bulb, or a flower, indicating their strength. All contain special visual features besides differing colors; reds have pointy noses; yellows have large ears; blues have gills that look like mouths; purples look fatter, are a bit larger than other pikmin, and have little whisker-like protrusions on top of their heads; whites are smaller than other pikmin, and have bright red eyes. (The trope page for Pikmin has a good image of them.)

  • Personality: It varies slightly from Pikmin to Pikmin, but generally they like to stick together and are friendly towards people. In fact, they love to simply follow people around and try to help them, since they would normally do that with one of the main characters of their own game, but they're not here now...
    • They can communicate with each other to an extent, but cannot talk normally with other characters. At best, they can relay emotions through tone and body language, and can at least use simple hand signals. Also, while they can't talk to other characters, they can understand other characters talking to them, at least somewhat.

  • Abilities: Pikmin work best as a team, since they are small and relatively weak solo, but together they excel at carrying objects much larger than them. In combat, they whack whatever opponent there may be with their head sprout, and do this best in simple swarming tactics. If teaming up with one or more other characters, (Which they will likely do, since they like to follow people by default.) they can be thrown easily into combat or up onto higher spots; if thrown onto an enemy for combat, they will latch onto the opponent wherever they land on them, and then start whacking them. Each type of Pikmin also comes with specific abilities, and/or immunities to certain hazards; the only one that none of them are completely immune to is strong wind or wind attacks, which won't kill them alone, but can degrade bulb and flower Pikmin down to leaf Pikmin. To upgrade their sprout, they need honey or a close-enough substance; or they can wait to grow it over time, but that takes a long time.
    • Red Pikmin are immune to fire, and deal more damage in combat than other Pikmin, except for purple Pikmin.
    • Yellow Pikmin are immune to electricity, and can be thrown higher and farther than other pikmin.
    • Blue Pikmin are the only Pikmin that don't drown in water, and can save other Pikmin from drowning in water.
    • Purple Pikmin are ten times stronger than other Pikmin. This means they can carry heavy things much easier and are the best in combat, but they also have downsides of being slower, and can't be thrown as far. Also if thrown, they will hit the target with much more force, potentially even dazing the target temporarily. They are also much harder to be knocked down or blown away by wind and wind attacks, but will still be degraded.
    • White Pikmin are immune to poison, run a bit faster than other Pikmin, and can detect hidden objects to a certain extent. Also, if eaten by an enemy, they can possibly poison it. However, they are weaker in combat, and are blown farther by wind and wind attacks.

Starting count: 11 total Pikmin
2 Red, 1 leaf and 1 bulb.
2 Yellow, both leaf.
3 Blue, all leaf.
2 Purple, both leaf.
2 White, 1 leaf and 1 bulb.

(I determined the starting Pikmin and their strength randomly, and it just ended up like that. o_O)

@ Firock

Sounds good. They can also gain strength naturally as time goes by, similarly as to how they do in-game. Leveling up from leaf to bulb, and bulb to full blown flower.

Sweet, though for balance purposes I'll probably have that take a long time.

Anyway, time to see about getting an intro post done...

Hey Firock! Its been a while. Those tiny details are gonna kill me one of these days.

Here I go for my character.

Name: Blackwatch

I think they wouldn't have a name like zombie from Wreck it Ralph

Game: Prototype

Appearance: Standing by, Commander

Personality: Paranoid, some what of a Conspiracy nut, While accused of being on the road to going turbo he adamantly denies this though he dreams of one day becoming a significant character or going to the human world

Powers: Some listed [[prototype.wikia.com/wiki/Evolved here]]

Blade arms

Consume

He also has super strength and speed to the point of being able to throw cars and run up buildings

(I gave him the consume ability so that can potentially upgrade and heal)

I didn't know what sort of format you wanted and er, it's probably best I don't link to the wiki abnout this guy unless you've played the game.

Name: The Magician

Game: Rayman Origins

Skills: General magic attacks (Lightning, fire, teleportation, damage lessening magic shield, freezing, etc. All temporary and not that strong. If he freezes you, you'll feel very cold but you won't become frozen and completely immobilised, nor burnt to a crisp). Somewhat immortal, even though he can be killed. It takes five minutes about for him to respawn. Can also control enemies with music

Misc: A teensie from the Rayman world, and just a sort of wizard/healer for this thread's purpose.

@ Philosopher

Sounds like it might be alright, though if he's already this strong, perhaps the ability to get stronger over time (especially over a short time) might be a little much. Perhaps he can't given that he's not in his own world anymore (For balance's sake)?

@ Big Daddy P

That sounds fine! As a side note, I love the Teensies from Rayman!

That sounds good. Should I get rid of the consume ability or can he use it to heal and take other people's shape? Or how much do you want that toned down?

@ Philosopher

You don't have to get rid of any of your previously listed abilities, should be fine. Less toning down I was worried about, and more the ability to get even stronger. But you're at about the cap we're looking at.

Name: Liquid Snake
Game: Metal Gear Solid
Skills: Invulnerable. He just won't die. Also proficient in many firearms and hand-to-hand combat, as well as a keen thinker. Zero magic 'special' abilities.
Misc: Either a main villain or a sub villain along with the next character.

Name: Psycho Mantis
Game: Metal Gear Solid 4
Skills: Extremely powerful psychic powers, augmented by the fact he is now a ghost. He can perform reconaissance while invisible, although he has a risk of being seen, and is completely useless in hand to hand combat. Can also predict enemy's attacks and intentions, and may or may not be able to see into the future.
Misc: Second villain alongside Liquid Snake.

Liquid is the physical fighter, heavy on the close combat and fisticuffs, while Mantis is the brains and ethereal fighter. They make a hell of a team, considering one can do what the other cannot.

If Liquid is invulnerable, how are we supposed to beat him?

True. I guess the way to beat him is to kill him somehow and then run away before he can come back to life, which is about, let's say, 20 minutes. But then, he could always be a Wake-Up Call boss.

Have you played the Metal Gear Solid game? He takes a lot of punishment throughout it without dying.

I haven't, which makes it hard for me to understand how tough he's supposed to be, admittedly.

If he's just going to regenerate and come after the group at a later time, every time, then he'd be a better Recurring Boss than Wake-Up Call Boss.

[up]He gets blown up, falls hundreds of feet, survives a car crash, survives his helicopter exploding... Implacable Man indeed. Oh, and he took about thirty missiles to the face or something without suffering permanent damage.

Hence, somewhat invulnerable. The downside is he has no supernatural ability. If his opponent moves extremely fast, he can't catch up. If someone throws a fireball, he won't be able to block it, or if the Pikmin attack he'll be at a loss what to do. He is still a trained soldier, though.

EDIT: A somewhat running gag in a fan comic was the story about how he once took on several fighter jets at once, which ended up with him going through one of the engines. He survived, but lost his memory. It's explained that his dad 'Eats f16s for breakfast' so all around toughness.
