The issue with Xplay was it's TV format. A website can show bias towards big-name titles and still give plenty of coverage to the smaller titles, provided they have the manpower to do so. The reason why is because it's a website: the readers choose what they want to read and when, so they can still give massive exposes to Halo 4 and Black Ops 2 while conducting interviews with promising developers or snooping out upcoming projects.
But Xplay doesn't have that advantage. Instead, all they have is a half-hour show, and they've gotta choose what's gonna get more viewers: some obscure PC game called Dwarf Fortress that takes a certain amount of patience to like and drives away casuals like the plague, or a flashy new COD game with high-end graphics that the kiddies are all crazy about? Oh, and giving it coverage would mean a good chance of more interviews and press with them? Not hard to guess which one is gonna win the screentime then.
Would you believe I never fully watched the original Indiana Jones trilogy? I gotta correct that someday.
