Poor Image: Groin Attack.Comic Books

The current image of the page is not very clear. It took me awhile to figure out what was happening. Diehard from Youngblood appears to be hitting another man in the crotch with his knee hard enough to cause internal bleeding.

The dialog might make it clear that is what’s happening (I have never read the comic in question), but the way it is drawn it could very well be a knee to the abdomen. The arching of the opponents body obscures the location of the knee strike. The caption is no help as it just states that he has it backwards; presumably because of the angle it looks like his foot is going the opposite direction of his opponent. The body of this page also fails to mention the picture. The only mention of the series is that it this trope was once inverted without giving any details.

May I suggest this picture◊ from New Avengers of Luke Cage kicking Electra in her crotch. It is much clearer since you can actually see his boot between her legs and her reaction to the attack. ^IMHO  Also IMHO it is funnier to see another woman receiving it because it is rarer, and a lot of people pretend it douse not hurt females (I can assure you it douse)

The current is really bad, it should go.

The suggestion is a definite improvement and I agree it would be cool to have a page image where a woman is on the receiving end of the attack since it's much more unusual and could remind people that men aren't the only possible victims of a groin attack. However, I think I'd like to see a picture where the groin thing is even more obvious (so one where the victim is pictured either from the front or profile).

Wow, that's atrocious. Agree with pulling it.

Current looks more like a double-handed uppercut to the jaw than it does a boot to the head groin. I mean, both feet of the not-bleeding guy are quite clearly behind his torso...

Although, even then, the poses look so wildly off, it's hard to tell. Maybe they're doing belly flops into each other; that'd make about as much sense.

Suggestion's pretty good, but we'd have to trim off the first three panels as they'd be unintelligible at <= 350px. It's miles beyond current, anyway, even using just the last panel.

Agree that the current is bad and should be pulled.

Also agree that it would be rather cool if we could find a page image that shows a woman on the reciving end.

But I'm not really fond of the suggestion, because it's his shin that's hitting her, not his foot, and that's an extremely uncommon variant. I'd really like it if we could find a clear foot-to-crotch-contact or knee-to-crotch-contact image.

I'd also say it should be a man getting hit since that's what a groin attack makes most people think of. Also, the pic we have just looks someone shoe-horning a joke they thought would be funny.

How about a screencap from that video where the martial artist let's a MMA fighter kick him him the balls? I think it was from a sports science show.

this thread is about Groin Attack's comic book subpage, so we'll need a comic book example.

Oh and I just noticed, the main Groin Attack page has a comic book image. It shouldn't even have one since it has medium-specific subpages. But the pic itself is a pretty good illustration, maybe we should move it to GroinAttack.Comic Books until this thread gets sorted out? It's a better placeholder than the current.

I still want a female victim to be honest. The Youngblood example says it's "infamously inverted" - is that supposed to mean that it's a male on female attack or what? Do you guys know? Google didn't really help.

I think it's supposed to be a bad joke about the image being a double punch to the face instead of a crotch kick.

I think they're saying he's hitting them with his crotch instead of the other way around, and I like Wil's pic.

I don't think "uncommon variant" is a negative in this case. Neither is that a male on the receiving end is what people more often expect. If anything, I'd want the image to show something that is less common, as that's better to show how wide the trope can be. If it's something people expect, there's less need to actually illustrate it.

While a joke, the current is also potentially (though weakly) misleading for a frontal variant of Ass Kicks You.

That douse look more like a double punch now that I think about it. I just assumed it was supposed to be a groin attack because that is what this trope is about. I do not see how you got that he was using his crotch to attack other people, but like I said I did not read this comic.

I agree with bananasloth, that it should be a woman getting kicked. I still like the one I suggested because it not only shows the victims reaction but also those of the onlookers. The only other female one on the page involves Sasha from Checkmate and it douse not even mention what series it was in. (douse anybody know).

Even though it is from a manga perhaps the image from Cynthia The Mission could be used for either this page or the anime page, of course someone would have to cut and resize it. (My Photoshop no longer works because of a virus)

About the Cynthia image, I don't think we should (or can for that matter) have a Panty Shot as a page image. I'm not even sure I can link to it (it's on p15 of ch15, vol03 if anyone's interested). But we could try to find an image for GroinAttack.Anime And Manga too now that you mention it.

I currently like the OP's suggestion and the image on Groin Attack's main page ([1]◊) the best, but I'm not 100% sold on either.

I will have to take your word about Sasha, since I have read very few books with her. However the second bullet states that “While in prison, Sasha also fended off another prisoner harassing her by kicking her in the crotch, leaving her doubled over.” I have not seen it so I do not know if it would make a good pic or if it was really a guy.

As for the Cynthia pic I do not see anything wrong with it. There are no panties shown; just his foot disappearing beneath her skirt. However you have been doing this much longer longer then me, and you know what is appropriate for this site, so I deafer to you.

My vote is still for the OP Pic. (I am the OP after all)

That's a good pic. Even if it is a woman, getting hit in the crotch isn't exactly pleasant for them either. It works.

I think that is one of the best pictures even if you can’t tell her gender. I am still slightly leaning towards the Electra one, but this would also do.

What comic douse the kick come from. I am more of a Marvel fan then a DC fan and Sasha has appeared in a lot of different series.

It was in a Batman comic, in the "Bruce Wayne: Murderer?" storyline. Detective Comics #767 to be precise.

I don't know, 18 just doesn't scream it for me, I like to one with a foot making good solid contact more.
