listed on the discussion page, so I went to the Internet Archive to see how long it's been around. It's not new, so it's not an auto-cut. Unfortunately. The earliest version on the Archive has five examples
, and that was back in early 2009. It's definitely not a healthy trope.
I think it may be also unnecessarily specific. I think there's a real trope in there somewhere about asking irrelevant questions before making a final statement. This then would be The Same but More Specific
. In any case, YKTTW
is indeed probably the best way to handle this. But we'll probably need crowners to make any serious changes, even though I think it's crying out for serious changes.
My conclusion: not a trope as it stands, but could be made one by broadening. Needs a Better Description
