If you mean the fanmade Mother 4, the launch site is going up in August, though that says nothing about when we'll actually see it.

I meant rather the VC Earthbound for Wii U.

Bumping because it (the long-awaited VC release for Mother2/Earthbound) was stealth-released in USA (and supposedly Europe) today.

And here's something I didn't expect, they put the old player's guide up on their website too.

The giant mole bosses have blood on their mouths and claws and the game is fairly dark otherwise, Giygas aside during a meditation session, a spirit dismembers your character, gouges out his eyes, tears off his ears, and stops just short of claiming your mind, as one example. . Niche as it is, I'm glad they upped the rating rather than censor it.

Also! Guess that means I need to get a Wii U quicklike. I really want to support this.

Will Earthbound be available on the Wii U forever? The console is only coming to my country at the end of this year.

[up] Nintendo generally does not remove games from their services. I can't think of a case where that's ever happened, unless it was really glitchy or unplayable, or something happened to the game rights (which we now know is not the case for Earthbound, the RIAA supposedly won't raise a stink about how sampling was used in the soundtrack)

[up]They removed the remake of Zelda Four Swords for some reason but that's all I can think of.

I think Donkey Kong Country was removed, or something.

Were those that were quick enough to download them allowed to keep them?

I'd certainly imagine so. It would be stealing to take it away.

It would mean that you can't redownload it if you accidentally delete it though.

They could always reimburse them with a free SNES game of similar value.

But that's... kind of good, I guess? They own the rights to Donkey Kong so it kind of sucks that a huge audience averse to emulators won't be able to experience a great trio of games.

They own the rights to Donkey Kong but Rare owns some of the Country elements and they're under Microsoft now. That's why Banjo Kazooie will never come to the eshop.

Well, hopefully they'll get the rights back some time.

AFAIK you can redownload them. You just can't purchase them.

It's rated T?

Clearly, it's a sign they won't hesitate to rate MOTHER 3 T either if that gets released internationally.

I did not expect this to happen today!

And they put the guide online too! Nice Nintendo. Although that guide had some infamous errors

This is the first time I've played Earthbound. Just made it to Twoson.

Even if it's kind of a standard RPG gameplay-wise, its humor and sheer weirdness are making it really fun for me so far.
