Seth MacFarlane will be hosting the next Oscars:
This just proves how out of touch the Oscars are. How many people can pick Seth MacFarlane out on the street? I mean I know who he is, but I had to Google to see what he looked like.
Please consider, if you can, donating to my late cousin's memorial fund. Thank you.
Well, who would you suggest? We can't keep yanking Hugh Jackman across the Pacific to host these damn things.
(Maybe we can clone him.)
A man of (controlled) substance.
Just awesome like that
Well, I like the suggestion of Robert Downey, Jr..

HA! Take that Mac Farlane haters.

Ugh I don't find this man funny really but admittedly I haven't seen him work in this sort of area so maybe that's where he shines. But yeah, unhyped.
Just awesome like that

That wanker. I'd rather watch them hosted by Seltzer and Friedberg.

Oh look. That song from TED made it in. WOW I CAN'T BEGIN TO IMAGINE WHY!!
Wow. It was kind of a slow year for dramas, wasn't it?
Flight?? Really? There's a reason the trailer only shows the prologue — because the rest of the movie is hackneyed even by Hallmark Channel standards.

Is it me or did most of the Best Picture nomination get released this past Winter??
edited 10th Jan '13 8:28:13 AM by kyun Has anyone seen Amour? I hadn't even heard of it. The Academy must be huge fans - it's rare for a foreign-language film to get Best Picture and Directing nominations.
I've watched a ton of movies this year (seriously, 2012 was Geek Heaven), but not many of the nominees. May end up skipping the Oscars this year. Les Mis was good, though; hope it gets some awards. The Academy loves history and likes musicals so it's got a good shot. (And the Best Original Song nomination confirms that "Suddenly" was written for the movie; I suspected that since I didn't remember it from the theatre production, but wasn't sure. Anyway, it was good enough to fit smoothly into the rest of the film.)

I'm surprised Cloud Atlas isn't on there anywhere. But I am happy to see Mirror Mirror hasn't been completely forgotten. The costumes in that movie were amazing.
I'm also surprised at the lack of Cloud Atlas, especially for Cinematography and costuming. That was one gorgeous film.
I think the Wachowski Broth— ... Sist—-.... Whatevers are getting shafted by Hollywood now.
Not to be that guy but I find it deliciously ironic that after the The Dark Knight Rises fanboys reacted the way they did to any negative reviews that the movie ended up getting completely shut out.
UTINNI!
I don't think I've even seen 90% of the movies nominated, with 0 of them having been nominated for best picture, so I have even less reason to bother caring than ever before.
I've only seen 2 of those films, though I plan to see Les Mis when it's out here, might see Django Unchained too.
This wheels on fire...

And me browsing these films, I actually reconginze a lot of these. Woot! Now I can make bets with everyone else.
...I will find it humorous if Skyfall wins Best Song. Then Adele can have a nice Oscar to go with her truck load of Grammy's.

I just find it stupid how you guys all hate him for Family Guy even though the jokes are positively hilarious. On a side note: Tvtropes "The Dethroning Moment of suck" on Family Guy has got to be the worst page on this wiki. Oversensitivity and over-freaking-exaggeration. You guys make it sound like the terribad Dane Cook is hosting it. And he's 1000 times worse than Seth macarlane (not to mention not as funny).

Mr. Dr.
Wow, for once I can't argue with their selection for BAF. Notice that three out of the five films are Stop Motion Animated films and that three out of the five are also Disney produced. Hopefully the former will inspire more filmmakers to carry on this medium.
That said Wreck It Ralph should win.
Who wants to play Video Games!

Agreed. Though I would be okay with ParaNorman and Pirates!

I think Paranorman should win BAF because they pushed the envelope on what stop motion can do.

The jokes in Family Guy AREN'T hilarious. They are ****** disrespectful, disgusting, and racist, but that's for another thread!
