Definitely not a weirdo
I could list all the people I want New York City to take back, but I don't want to crash the site.

Likewise my home country. In our defense, the lawyer we hired to negotiate our contract with Mephistopheles was almost certainly selected because he was bangin' somebody's cousin.

Just awesome like that
@NYC: Yeah, but New York City is a far more densely populated place, and it's a hotbed of culture, so of course there'd be tons off famous people from there.

And speaking of New York, I just realized, the New Radicals filmed their music video for "You Get What You Give" in the Staten Island Mall. (I would know, I'm originally from Staten Island.)

Well if we're listing famous people from Ga., then I can say:

  • Jimmy Carter
  • A bunch of civil rights leaders, such as Martin Luther King Jr.
  • Half of all the popular rappers in the past decade

They also shoot The Walking Deadand Teen Wolf here and they are shooting Catching Fire.

Furiko: On the flipside, while Canada continually inflicts things like Celine Dion, Nickelback, and Bieber on the world, we also provide the best counterbalance to those inflictions. In the form of Rush, Matthew Good, and our various indie rock exports.tongue

I would say Rush is the Nickelback of prog rock.

You do in fact realise that Rush has seen a resurgence in the past few years?

On top of the fact that they've sold one album in Canada for every five or six people in the country?

Beyond that, all three of them are also gods of their instruments. So they win. Nickelback, on the other hand, are not.

Also, "true progheads" are more divisive and argumentative than "tr00 kvlt metal" fans. So that argument is invalid.tongue

Okay, I take my unfair comparison back, but you're overrating them compared to a lot of other good Toronto bands.

[lol]!! [awesome]x4

If I may start a subthread of complimenting other peoples local culture.....

The Canadians gave us Shania Twain, the Devil's Brigade, Stargate SG-1, Amanda Tapping, and of course Captain Kirk.

Canada is the second greatest nation in the history of mankind.

Name one better.tongue

The Tragically Hip are from Kingston.

Metric is as much from Montreal, NYC and LA as they are from Toronto. Also spent much of their early period in London. (Real London, not London, Ontario)

Eh.

Still better than Soulja Boy or Lil Wayne or, say, this abortion of American music.

... I have heard of exactly zero of those bands.

You should have just said, like... actually, I can't think of any Toronto bands I consider on par with Rush.[lol]

I still say the two best musical regions in the country are the Maritimes and Quebec, though. The Maritimes especially, in the past decade or so.

  • Good beer
  • Hippies
  • The LGBT community
  • Trees
  • Rain
  • LARP

I like all of those things. Except some of the hippies...them I'd like to run over with my car.

I'm guessing Seattle or San Francisco.

Elsewise, some medium-large town/city in Washington State. Maybe Oregon.

Am I right? (I know you live in Washington now, but no idea where your home town is, Drunk.tongue)
