Yeah, this is the same as Running Gag.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! From the name, I would have guessed that it was about lampshading the Running Joke. Which would be Playing With a trope, not a separate trope.
The description seems to be "Nothing But Running Jokes", which is simply But More.
Some of the examples are definitely in complainy territory, though those may be simply misuse (e.g. the examples that say, "the sequel rehashes the jokes in the original", which has nothing to do with what's been described).
+1 to merge.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Actually, it seems to be intended to be more meta than Running Gag.
A Running Gag is a joke that is repeated or revisited a number of times.
A Recurring Joke Joke is a joke about the joke repeating a number of times.
That would be the lampshading I mentioned earlier, but neither the description nor the examples meet that definition, even if it did count as more than Playing with a Trope.
Maybe it originally started as Lampshading A Running Joke By Joking About It, but if so, it's been mutated beyond recognition. We could check the Wayback Machine, but I don't think it would change my opinion either way.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. No, it isn't. It might sound like it should be, but it's about recurring comedy sketches based on a single running gag.
It didn't - I saw the YKTTW, and people were questioning its tropeworthiness even then, but it still got launched.
Hooking a crowner to cut this.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerShouldn't it be merge, not cut? More-or-less the same thing, but we don't want to lose the examples.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. As far as I can tell, there are no unique examples. We're talking a page with 12 examples versus an Omnipresent Trope split into multiple media to accommodate everything.
Can it be redirected rather than cut? This isn't because I prefer a merge or due to inbounds, just that it is a good name and redirects do no harm.
That was the amazing part. Things just keep going. Can't hurt.
"Polite life will fill you full of cancer." - Iggy Pop "I've seen the future, brother, it is murder." -Leonard Cohen16-0 with no other options. Let's call this.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Redirected to Running Gag.
No wicks to move. Hollering for a lock.

Rhymes with "Protracted."
Crown Description:
Recurring Joke Joke seems barely different from Running Gag and has no wikilinks.
I can't see how this differs from "Running Gag and/or Catchphrase in Sketch Comedy", apart from adding a bit of Complaining on top.
