Justice League Anime Interest Check:

1 SKJAM, Fri, 14th Sep '12 1:08:34 PM from Minneapolis Get RP Mod Relationship Status: Cast away
Great and Powerful
Let's see if anyone thinks this is a fun idea.

Background: It is the year 201X, in an alternate timeline where versions of many anime and manga characters live. Despite this, the general thrust of history has been similar to the real world. Even though there are giant monsters, alien invasions, costumed lunatics and criminal conspiracies galore, the efforts of scattered heroes, anti-heroes and action survivors have kept things from getting out of control.

It's been a near thing a few times. A coalition of businessmen and government officials has decided that the future of Japan is too important to be left to chance. It's time to organize some of the heroes of Japan into a team, a league of justice as it were. The call has gone out to a select few to begin with....

Character Creation: Pick an anime or manga character who you think would be called upon by the backers of this new team, either one who already has a superheroish identity, or one that can be dressed up as a superhero and not completely embarrass Japan. For the time being, your Dragonball Z-level characters and anyone who could beat up Dragonball Z main characters without raising a sweat are off the table. Think more, "could give Spider-Man an interesting tussle"-level, or "has one really impressive power but isn't great shakes outside that."

2 Ragna The Saviour, Fri, 14th Sep '12 6:44:34 PM from Gamindustri Get RP Mod Relationship Status: Baby don't hurt me!
Purple Heart
  • Name: Kazumi Kazusa Michirou
  • Source of Character: Puella Magi Kazumi Magica
  • Physical Description: Magical girl of justice!, but now getting down to the nitty gritty. Kazumi's build is pretty skinny regardless of how much food she consumes. She retains a nice hour-glass figure, and she stands at around 5'5" which is decent for a girl of her age. Her hair is a deep black and her eyes a nice, dirty brown. Her skin is perfect as in there's not a scratch, cut nor scar to be seen. Her battle attire consists of a stereotypical witch hat which has given some implications. The rest of the outfit shows some skin but the most important parts ARE covered by thick lines of black cloth. A skirt covers her midsection down, and her shoes are midnight black and rather pointy.
  • Personality: Kazumi is pretty unpredictable and hotheaded. She can go from happy, to sad, to any extreme at any given time. Given this, she is cheerful most of the time, probably way too much of the time. It can be endearing or annoying depending on the person that's around her. The magical girl is also stubborn, hard-headed and loves to eat. She even has a philosophy based around food. It's something along the lines of Evil people never finish their meals!
  • Powers/Skills/Equipment:
    • Soul Gem: Standard procedure for Puella Magi is that they have a Soul Gem, which serves as their true body. If the Gem isn't destroyed, then they can remain alive. It also offers the capacity to regenerate wounds, but Kazumi doesn't exactly have that special kind of power.
    • Destruction: Kazumi's power manifests itself as blasts of in which she promptly names Limit Esterni. They can be fired from the heavens, or from the tip of her staff for a horizontal blast. Their destructive power varies, but at max it could probably blow out the first floor of an average house.
    • Crafting: Kazumi can create mundane weapons instead of relying on her staff to dish out damage, even though that is her main mode of attack. She's been shown to toss out magical rifles from her witch hat and create other weapons that her friends have used. Although, she can't use them to their full capacity.
  • Background: Kazusa Michirou is still the same magical girl as she was in canon, but there is a major difference in that she didn't witch. and she's still very much alive. The Pleiades Saints, the magical girl team that she had formed, is still in work in the city of Asunaro, located, of course, in Japan.
  • Why they're being considered for the team: Kazumi's personality is one of her strong points, as she's mostly optimistic even in the darkest of times. She can bring some hope to the situation, even if it's dire, even if there is no hope, she'll find a way to succeed! Kazumi also has some leadership qualities due to her experience with managing her own group of seven magical girls called the Pleiades Saints.

Reserving a spot for a Lyrical Nanoha character, if that's OK.

I would join in, if I knew any good manga characters besides Keima Katsuragi[lol]

Well, there's Ratman, but that story hasn't progressed enough to roleplay without all kinds of problems popping up.
6 desdendelle, Sat, 15th Sep '12 2:08:02 PM from /dev/null Get RP Mod Relationship Status: What is this thing you call love?
  • Name: Nanoha Takamachi. AKA The White Devil.
  • Source: Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha A's.
  • Physical Description:
    • School uniform with Raising Heart (left), age 9; Barrier Jacket with Raising Heart (right).
    • Nanoha looks like an average fifteen-year old girl, with brown hair that she usually wears in a long ponytail, large blue eyes and a short, slim build. While not wearing causal clothes, chances are she's wearing her school uniform: a white knee-length dress and a black-edged white sailor's jacket. She usually wears a necklace holding her Device, Raising Heart, in its/her standby form of a red jewel.
While fighting, Raising Heart auto-casts her Barrier Jacket, which is a puffier version of her school uniform; it adds blue lines, puffy shoulders, blue puffy wrist-guards with yellow lines, black fingerless gloves, and a large red ribbon in front.
  • Personality: Naive, kind, and energetic. Nanoha always tries to understand people, even if it means shooting giant magical lasers at them to get them to listen. She's got a somewhat itchy trigger finger — she's not afraid to laser someone to get them to listen, as noted above — but prefers talking, and will usually befriend her downed enemy once she can get them to listen.
  • Powers: Nanoha is a mage. In the Nanohaverse, spells are complex energy equations, regulating Mana generating in the mage's Linker Core. Because of that, Nanohaverse magi usually use computers called Devices to assist them in their spellcasting. Nanoha uses an Intelligent Device — a Device with a sophisticated AI and a limited ability to act on its own — called Raising Heart. Her spells range from shields (Protection and its variations, Round Shield), small magical lasers and magical bullets (Divine Shooter, Crossfire Shoot, Accel Shooter) to giant magical lasers (Divine Buster and Starlight Breaker). She can also cast binds and fly. Most of them are pink in colour.
  • Background: Nanoha was an ordinary schoolgirl till she found an injured ferret clutching a jewel in its mouth in a park one day. The ferret was truly a shape-shifted archaeologist mage named Yuuno Scrya from another planet called Mid-childa; he came to earth to find and retrieve twenty-one Lost Logia (dangerous magical relics) called Jewel Seeds that he excavated and subsequently lost. Nanoha decided to help him; he told her that she had incredible magical talent. She helped him gather the Jewel Seeds, fighting and befriending another mage among the way.
    • Changes from Canon: Reduced TSAB contact with her. She still operates from Uminari City, Japan.
  • Why Nanoha is Being Considered for the Team?: despite her young age, she is a competent mage and warrior. Her personality ensures that she'll try diplomacy first, and her record of finding solutions to seemingly-impossible situations also helps. The fact that Nanohaverse magic is As Lethal as It Needs to Be is also a factor.

Nanoha might be just a little too young, even given her advanced skills.

And do we have anyone who'd like to try something other than magical girls?

(Keima: "I am The Playa, able to predict the best action to bring about a happy ending in any gal game, and thus the person who can get to kiss any woman possessed by a spirit that makes them as predictable as a game character!")

I would be interested in playing a non-magical-girl character, perhaps. Trying to think of a way to adjust a characer from Sakura Taisen to fit without having a mech. Maybe something more Iron Man-like, since within the anime they do refer to the mechs as 'spirit armour'. Maybe it could be more close to a suit of armor rather than a robot? Would that make sense?

I can jump Nanoha up to her StrikerS THE COMICS age, which is 15. Will that be OK?

Might sign up as someone from Soul Eater or Blue Exorcist.

Or Fullmetal Alchemist, I don't know. >-> Choices!

How much more ludicrously powerful is Nanoha at 15? How much is due to her being a member of the Green Lantern Corps Space Police?

She's not the ridiculously OP Nanoha of StrikerS. She can't go through AMF, etc — it's basically A's!Nanoha, only older and with a mass acceleration spell (Stardust Fall). Also, it's post Mark IV Gadget Drone!blade through the chest.

Working on a bio for a modified (as stated earlier) more Iron Man-inspired Kanzaki Sumire. She's fairly arrogant and such, but has no real problems being part of a team. Thought her personality might be a nice contrast to the characters who've already been submitted... though more of her dere side might be necessary for that.
Proud prince
Right, definitely going as someone from Soul Eater. It'll probably have to be two characters (Maka and Soul).

And this means someone else can use a FMA character.

Like a BOSS
Name: Sumire Kanzaki

Source of character: Sakura Taisen

Age: 19

Physical Description: Gravity-defying kimono action! and a dere moment. A little on the short side at 5'3", but still can boast a mature physique. Whatever the clothing she dons Sumire's chin length reddish hued brunette hair always has the same lavender headband decorating it. Similar to much of her clothing, her eyes appear at first glance to be purple as well. Always seen dressing in whatever is the most fashionable for a lady of wealth. In battle she dons a suit of purple battle armor with a green-tinted visor similar to this

Personality: Supremely confident in her own abilities - be they martial, social or anything else - Sumire easily comes off as arrogant and self-serving. She strongly believes that everyone else should hold themselves up to the same standards as herself; equalling her, in Sumire's mind, is nigh impossible. Despite her high-and-mighty attitude she actually does have empathy for others. Often it is expressed as tough love or veiled in what seems on the surface as a jab, insult or even indifference. Sumire can be very competitive at times when she feels a challenge has been issued. It's usually the case that no such challenge was ever even contemplated by the other party. This is mostly Sumire's determination to prove herself worthy of her own high self opinion.

Powers/Skills/Equipment: While a skilled martial artist (specializing in the Kanzaki family's naginata style) Sumire has no super powers per se. Instead she wields a good deal of 'reiryoku', or spirit energy, which is harnessed by specially designed combat armour. This armour utilizes its wearer's reiryoku to enhance physical strength and agility while also having a flight mode in the form of boot mounted rockets (more or less). The armour is designed to be very durable as well due to the type of more-than-human enemies its pilot goes up against. Included with the armor is a built-in computer system that includes GPS, limited radar, and a net feed that can be displayed in an HUD window. To best utilize her marital skill Sumire wields a complementary naginata when in armour. The weapon uses the same technology as the suit to channel reiryoku in supplement to its razor sharp blade.

Background: As in the canon Sumire grew up the daughter of the CEO of the Kanzaki Industries zaibatsu. Because her parents were always busy with work she was raised mostly by household staff and became self-reliant early on. She began learning to use a naginata at five and eventually was brought in to assist a new company project when her considerable reiryoku was discovered. The new project had discovered a way to harness it as an alternative energy source, but was very experimental. Together with a Chinese specialist Sumire personally helped test the original bulky prototypes of the 'spirit armour'. Sumire had a personal hand in developing the much more mobile personal armour system she now utilizes as well.

While originally intended for use by the JSDF, its cost and economic conditions in Japan ensured no large-scale production was undertaken. A small team was considered by the JSDF command but the search for other potential pilots drew out longer than was thought tolerable. For the forseeable future Sumire is the only pilot of a Kanzaki Industries spirit armour suit. It has been found Sumire needs to undertake creative activity to maintain her reiryoku; this is accomplished by the fact that she is something of an actress as a day job.

Changes from canon: only one spirit armour suit has been produced and is piloted, as opposed to the existance of an Imperial Combat Troupe. In addition, steam technology was changed to experimental modern technology and size of the armour shrunk to a personal level. Include how the character's backstory has changed (if much) due to growing up in more-or-less mainstream Japan.

Why Sumire is being considered for the team: Despite her 'memorable' personality, Sumire is by all accounts a very competent fighter. Being highly motivated and determined to succeed in any situation also has attracted attention. Her ability to work on a team has been proven during the armour's development process and her acting career. Having access to the spirit armour technology also gives her a leg up, and perhaps even family connections to decision-makers?

One nitpick: "Complimentary" means either "free" or "praising." I think you mean her special naginata is "complementary".

In all seriousness, though, you are correct. Changing to the correct spelling for my own sake.
