To be fair, the Slender Man rip-off accusations surfaced back when all that was known about the film was the title and the "tall guy kidnaps kids" plot. After images started being leaked the accusations started dying down.

It looks good. But I read the ending on Wikipedia. You are going to be surprised, it's a twist ending but not the kind you'd even expect.
