"Good girl. Now I'm going to let you talk; remember what I just said." John replied as he loosened his grip around her throat. "There was an incident in the woods earlier, some people were shot; its highly likely that they were brought here. I'm looking for a man who was shot in the leg; dark skin, bright hair, young. Where is he?"
"I don't know what you're talking about. We've only had two people come in and they were both older women" She said, her voice shaky.

"Think about this very carefully" John responded "This happened within the last hour or so, and it was a significant leg wound; he's most likely non-ambulatory."
"Haven't seen any patient under fifty years old today" She said, shaking her head nervously.
"How did you get to work today?"
"My boyfriend drove me" She said, still weak and slightly shaking with fear. The phone the cop had given Nico rang for a few seconds, then a female voice picked up. "James Roses Junior's office, how may I help you?"

John released his grip around her neck, and placed a palm in the middle of her back and firmly pushed her forward against the adjacent wall. After a quick search, he removed her wallet and began to go through it. "Get on your knees, and interlock your fingers behind your head."
The woman followed the his instructions with tears in her eyes when a man around her age appeared. "Who the hell are you?!" He asked— realizing that was his girlfriend on her knees with her hands behind her head, he tensed and lifted his hands to let them be visible "What do you want?"
"Well for starters, you can walk over here with your hands in the air; slowly." John replied as he drew his sidearm and pointed it at the woman's head. "Nice and easy; no need for you to do anything you'll regret."
Nico made sure to control his volume so it could be heard on the other side of the phone but hopefully not by anyone in his physical presence. "This is rather the odd scenario. An...acquittance contacted me regarding my current situation and I require a little...assistance. They told me to ring this number."
The man did exactly as he was told, shakily. "Oh... Will you please hold for a moment?" The woman on the other side of Nico's borrowed phone said after a moment, and very boring music started to play. After a few minutes, a male voice answered "Okay— who are you and what's your situation?"

Nico continued listening to the phone, waiting for whatever would happen. He then spoke. "My name, although I prefer not to use it, is Nico Smith. In terms of description, homeless mutant and human firefly. And the police have now discovered I am a homeless minor and also I may have followed a teleporting person by grabbing onto them when they teleported and then kicked them in the face several times and am facing legal charges. Both are problems, really."

"There you go." John said as the man followed his instructions. Once he was closer, John shoved him up against the wall and searched him in the same manner as before, removing the mans wallet and taking a step back. Reaching into his jacket for some zipties, he tossed them at the mans feet. "Cuff your girlfriend, then cuff yourself. "
The man began handcuffing his girlfriend, giving her words of reassurance that everything would be okay. Before he could start with himself, though, John felt something like the end point of a barrel on the back of his neck. A calm, deep voice spoke behind him "Don't look back, drop the weapon, let them go." On the other side of the line, the man chuckled. "I'll send someone over, see what we can do. You've got great luck, kid." And then he hung up.
Not turning to face his new opponent John held his weapon steadily on the couple as he spoke. "Either pull that trigger, or walk away."
It seemed inherently weird to him, and he was expecting things to go rather strangely. Regardless, he had gone through with the call. He put the phone down on the table now he was done with it and waited.
"Now- there's no reason why we can't all walk away from this alive. Now drop the gun." The cop came in a few minutes later, a young woman dressed in formal business clothes walking besides him. She had dark skin, dark hair, and bright contrasting blue eyes."Um, Nico, this-um... This woman told me she's here to help with all the legal stuff. Apparently she needs to do some pro-bono work and you called her?" "Hi" She said, walking up to Nico and offering her hand for him to shake "I'm Amanda"
"Like I said, officer, it's a long story. Which I will explain later." Nico shook her hand and spoke. "Nico Smith, legally. When it's no matter, I prefer Firefly. For obvious reasons."
"If you'really that concerned about making it out of here alive, how about you go first? Or maybe you'd rather stay here and make small talk."
"I'd rather the two innocents with a gun pointed at their heads get away unharmed. Anything else is bonus" Amanda's handshake was firm. "Okay, um, Firefly. I looked at your case and, since you've been basically living on your own for years now, you'd probably have an easy case apply for an Emancipation."
"You two, don't forget what I told you earlier." John said with slight irritation as he lowered his weapon. Turning on his heel, he readied his sidearm as he came face to face with his opponent. "Still feel like pushing your luck?"
"Frankly, yes" The man behind him said, hitting John in the head with the small metal pipe he'd been using to attempt to intimidate him into not shooting anyone, making him drop unconscious to the floor before he realized he'd been hit. Thanks to the nature of John's power, however, he was awoke in under a minute with no damage or dizziness. Thanks to the nature of the couple's legs, they weren't there when he did. Her wallet was also not there. And there was a security guard handcuffing John when he began to come to. The man who had hit him was kneeling beside John. He grimaced. "I hope I didn't hit him too hard— he had a gun so I thought better to err on the side of excess but—ah, see, right as rain. How many fingers?" He asked, holding up three fingers. Tari got to her home to find an impatient friend on her doorstep.
"Ten" John said as he quickly delivered a swift strike to the vigilantes throat. Springing to his feet, he rushed past the security guard, and bounded over the wall, and off into the busy city. Finding a secluded alley, he began to pick his cuffs.
Which was really hard for John, seeing as how his hands were behind him.
Looking around to make sure he was alone, John made his way on top of a nearby dumpster, crouching low, he leaned back before pushing himself off with his legs. Angling himself as to land on his hands, he impacted the ground with all of his body weight focusing around his shackled hands. Grimacing for a split second before picking himself up, he climbed back up.and repeated the process until his thumbs and most of the fingers in his hands were broken. Using his new flexibility to his advantage, John grit his teeth as he slid the cuffs off his hands. Moments later, his bones reset themselves, and he was on his way; taking care to remain unseen. After what seemed like the better part of an hour, he made his way back to his hotel.
