Shingeki no Kyojin/Attack on Titan (Manga Discussion):

[up][up][up] If the episode is 20-25 min. long, I can't see why not. A few flashbacks, fight scenes and inner monologues can easily fill it up.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. If they seriously drag this episode out that long, I'll complain about it on my non-existent live journal!

Well, if they are going to end it with the Female Titan being attacked, they have to fill it with something. Let's just hope it's fight scenes instead of flashbacks.
Princess Ymir's knightess
Methinks the flashback + Eren's decision + Female Titan captured and aftermath + Last scene of the FT roaring for help is enough to fill out an episode decently.

[up] Can't argue with that. Though I'd like it if a decent fight scene is thrown into the mix.
Princess Ymir's knightess
We do have that random dude vs Female Titan while Eren is having an internal debate.

Yeah, well, that battle wasn't really intense.

Meh, he held out much longer than everyone else against her.

I like those flashbacks...They have Hanji-antics and lampshading that biting your hand hard enough to draw blood freaking hurts. And my tentative guess is ending with the capture, even though I really want to get this arc over with.

Ep. 19 "Bite" (噛みつく Kamitsuku?) same title as Chapter 25 (vol. 6)

Chapter 26 "The Expedient Path" (好都合な道を Kōtsugō na Michi o?) (end of Vol. 6) this will probably be included with Ep. 19

Ep. 20 "Erwin Smith" (エルヴィン・スミス Eruvin Sumisu?) same title as Chapter 27 (Vol. 7)

Next episode (this week's episode) will probably end with Female Titan getting captured.

Next week's episode is when it will get other titans to eat it.

I'll wait for the actual episode, but I'm holding my non-existent live journal ready, you better believe it!

[up] I'm not sure whether you want more than two manga chapters cramped into episode 19 or less than two manga chapters cramped into episode 19, lol.

There's only 68 pages left in volume 6 that hasn't been animated yet. Part of chapter 25 and all of chapter 26. End of chapter 26 which is also end of volume 6 is the capture of the female titan.

Shingeki episodes usually averages 2 chapters if it's mostly action, 1.5 chapter if it's mix-action, mix-dialogue and 1 chapter if its mostly dialogue.

Edit:

My dream Shingeki dvd covers.
Vol. 1-3 - Eren, Mikasa, Armin
Vol. 4 - Jean & Marco
Vol. 5 - Connie & Sasha
Vol. 6 - Levi, Irwin, Hanji
Vol. 7 - Bert & Ernie
Vol. 8 - Ymir & Krista
Vol. 9 - Annie

Meh, he held out much longer than everyone else against her.

Agreed. That dude deserves his own chapter if you ask me.

Anytime a Red Shirt lives longer than the five seconds it takes to kill them, they should receive a post-humous medal.

Any of the scouts who got killed in this arc deserves a medal. This ain't like the Trost arc.

True. They were doing everything right, but the enemy was just something they were not prepared for.

I have a theory as to how the Titan's reproduce.

Consider: Assuming all or most of the Titans come from Humans, the vast majority of the population has already been converted. Barring aliens or something, this majority was converted either intentionally by humans, accidentally through the environment (Spilling Murder-in-a-jar or whatever into the water plant, I don't know) or through the Titans themselves. It seems to have gotten out of control, so it's probably safe to rule out the first choice. I can't dismiss the second, but as for the third...

The Titans eat humans, and then spit them out. There appears to be no reason for this. The military orders for all of the cadavers to be burned to ash after they've been regurgitated.

What if this is where the non-sentient Titans come from? It would explain how it got so out of control.

[up] They don't have to reproduce as they're practically immortal. Most the titans we've seen are probably over a hundred years old, dated back to the time when they first showed up.

As for why they throw up, they only throw up when their tummies are full.

As for how Titans are made, we know at least they can be done via serum and something else more magical-instantaneous like with what happened with Connie's village. Maybe via nanomachines or a virus (or a magical command).

[up] My theory is that they were created as a war weapon or something along those lines, and designed to both kill people and reproduce. (They have no reason to eat humans—they can kill them just fine through other means.) The only time we've seen the serum being used was on Eren, and he's abnormal as far as Titans go. Given that civilization seems to be destroyed, I also find it unlikely that all of the Titans were created intentionally, even if the first ones were.

[up] I think I had mentioned something like that theory earlier. Only I think the regular Titans we see were failed attempts at that. Note we've only seen some Titan Shifters swallowing humans and release them unharmed. And we know humans have to be alive in order to become Titans.

Also, I mentioned this earlier, but no one seemed to notice, that I think, like a theory in Borderlands about how there were so many pscyhopaths, is that either Titans are being cloned somehow or there are captive women forced to become baby-making machines to make more Titans.

[up] How do we know that they have to be alive? It's really easy to miss small, plot-changing details, so if you remember something, please share.

I suppose being dead would explain the brain damage most of them have. [lol]

Actually, that would make a lot more sense. Still, a person needing to be alive or not to become a Titan is something we don't know yet, so that's my fault for assuming.

Not a muppet.
Here's a theory; what separates shifters from regular titans is whether or not the brain survives. We know that the shifters all get a healing factor, and that transformation is triggered by injury, but in the case of a catastrophic injury to the brain, even if it heals there's no guarantee that the mind that had once inhabited that brain would survive. Eren was swallowed mostly whole, so his brain was in one piece, and the other shifters barring Ymir were probably titaniz— titanifie— made titans under more controlled circumstances, so risk of injury is minimal.

Ymir is what makes this idea interesting to me. She was a wild titan for something like sixty years, but she came out of it. I think maybe when she took the injury that made her transform the first time, it wasn't enough to leave her brain-dead, but instead put her into something like a persistent vegetative state or a coma. Her brain worked, so the titan-body didn't reject it as a foreign element, but it was too damaged to give input, and so, kept from aging by the titan's healing factor, it healed slowly over the course of sixty years. I also think this might be why her titan form had such a large head; the host's head was damaged, so whatever instinct controls the healing factor tried to compensate.

Deranged 6 AM ramblings are free of charge.
Should've checked the list.
Two out of four ain't bad
The fact that she's apparently got followers among the titans indicates she was some sort of aberrant even when she couldn't transform.

[up][up] Yes but , if that's the case, then why are all the titan shifters unique looking (skinless, armored, claws, shorter than average, e.t.c.)?
