This is a positive signal. Large companies rarely associate with divisive issues like homosexuality, since they don't want to be associated with a particular stance. When a game company as big as Microsoft is willing to support Gaymer Con, that might be a sign that general attitudes are changing faster than you'd expect.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Good for them. I might not particularly like Microsoft as a gaming company but I do think Sony and Nintendo need to follow their example. There's too much bigotry in the world in general.
Microsoft has been one of the pioneers of LGBT rights since the late 80's, IIRC.
Jonah FalconThey haven't been perfect: for a while a couple years ago they were banning people on X Box Live for having "gay" in their gamertag profiles (including a guy from a town called Fort Gay) in a misguided effort to control it being used as a slur. They relented and changed the policy when people were complaining though.
Last I checked, Gates doesn't even work at Microsoft anymore, and I doubt he keeps much ties to the modern company.
Anyways, this is kinda cool, I guess.
