Actually, since it's ongoing, Gaim is kind of one I'd like to wait on until it's finished.

Also, I know it's run by the Butcher.... is it as bad as Fate Zero and Madoka Magica on the "character's getting screwed over" front?

I've long decided that my next Showa series will be Stronger, and I might check out V3 after, but that'll probably be the end of Showa for me.

I never seen any of Urobuchi's works, not a fan of such grimness, but I personally say that it has its moments of sorrow and triumph.

Yeah, I really recommend V3, other than it's completed, it's damn awesome. Stronger too, but the episodes aren't completed yet.

[up] Yeah, more often than not, the good guys get fucked over, but it's in a "It gets worse before it gets better" fashion.

Yeah, kinda like that.

Also, back to the Toku Base of the Trope Pantheon; I also want to say that the original Ultraman may not be a fitting leader, because Father of Ultra is imo. Ultraman King is too busy to do whatever it is he's doing, and Ultraman Noa is a dimensional traveler, so he's out.

Hrm..... yeah, I've decided. I'll finish up Wizard or Kuuga since they're the shows I've made the most progress on, and then go from there. If Gaim is completed by the time I finish those two - which, considering I still have 12~ episodes of Fourze and still 20~ episodes of Amazon to finish first, is totally possible, if not probable - then I'll do Gaim.

I suspect the answer is "yes" on account of it effectively being the Genre Maker, but I'll ask anyway.

This a suitable thread for posting Godzilla, Gamera, and other Kaiju fics ?

Yes. It's Tokusatsu in its rawest form.

Since we mostly just talk about Henshin Hero stuff, I figured I'd go ahead and ask anyway.

It's the Only Way to Be Sure.

Godzilla is the originator of tokusatsu, is he not? Of course he's allowed.

It's just every single fans around here ALWAYS talk about Kamen Riders and Super Sentai. What, the rest are chopped livers for you guys?

Like I said, he's the Genre Maker.

And no, I recall that we've sporadically mentioned the Metal Heroes at least a few times over the years. Probably the Ultras, too.

... And now I just had a mental image of Kamen Rider J, the Zeo Rangers, Ultraman Tiga, and Jet Jaguar teaming up to fight GMK Godzilla.

Unrelatedly, I finally finished up Gokaiger this morning. What's y'all's favorite version of Gokai-Oh? Mine is definitely Kanzen Gokai-Oh.

So I binged a bunch of Kamen Rider Fourze yesterday (three eps left now!), and HOLY CRAP, DID NOT SEE THAT COMING.

Anyway, I found some good Godzilla fics I want to share with you guys:

The MUTO War: Have still only read the first chap, but it's basically the Kaiju equivalent of Super Robot Wars. Featuring assorted Godzilla continuities, Gamera (original film and Heisei series), Pacific Rim, and possibly other stuff.

Spacegodzilla Raids Again: Exactly What It Says on the Tin. Have only read the first chapter so far, but the author is seriously awesome at describing things.

Godzilla Gamera Mechagodzilla: Giant Monster War: basically a GMK sequel with Gamera, Mechagodzilla, and Battra as the new Guardian Monsters. Again, have only read the first chapter - not even all of it, as of this posting! - but it seems very promising.

Think I've begun to work on an old idea of mind that I put in the binder: Tsukasa's Start of Darkness.

Inspired by Kamen Rider Wizard ep 23.

Didn't Quite Think This Through

In the middle of kicking Phoenix into the sun, Wizard declared, "There will be no finale for you."

Haruto then reverted to his civilian self and went about talking with Rinko to see if she was all right.

Meanwhile, as Phoenix fell into the sun, he said, "Well, shit. On the one hand, the sun is going to keep killing me, and my powers make it so I'll keep resurrecting."

On resurrecting, he continued, "On the other hand, I also become even more powerful when I come back than I was when I died."

Coming back a third time, he added, "So if I just wait about a week or so, I should probably have died and resurrected enough times to just blow up the sun."

The sun refrained to comment, other than burning him to a crisp again. By this point, Phoenix was resurrecting so quickly that he dying didn't even interrupt his sentences. "Once I don't have this giant ball of superheated gas killing me anymore, I'll just fly to Earth, kick that ringed wizard's ass, and... I dunno, take over the world and make everyone fight each other until there's someone strong enough to fight me. Or something."

Of course, the sun is really, really, really big, so Phoenix was slightly off in his estimate. It took two weeks of constantly dying and resurrecting before he could blow it up.

And then everything on Earth began dying out without solar light and heat to sustain it, until the crossover movie reset the universe.

So, I have this random fanfic idea involving Gogo Sentai Boukenger which deals with "The First Precious"...

The first Precious in this case is well... the Precious...

Thing is, not sure if I should make it a one-shot where Sakura shows Natsuki or make it a long chapter which involves both Kaito and Basco gunning for the ring.

So, totally random idea: The Gokaigers get caught in a negative space wedgie (there are a lot of those!) and end up in Angel Grove, say midway through the second season. They then do...

Absolutely nothing. They don't act like the way heroes or villains are expected to (except for Gai) confusing both Zedd and the Rangers about what they want. Let's You and Him Fight abounds. And the Gokaiger keep trying to steal an evil magic jewelry Zedd and Rita have...

Even at a glance I can tell this is going to be a plotless thing that will soon fizzle out, but it'll be fun while it lasts...

And it's better than my alternate plan of dropping Dex into Kamen Rider Dragon Knight...

@ Gokaiger x MMPR thing: Okay, I guess I can see that.

@ Dex in KRDK thing: Is that the passable MMPR Dex, or the headache-inducing MR Dex?

As the prince of Edenoi and a heroic character, it can be implied that he cared strongly for his subjects. It's been a long time since I saw the relevant 3-parter, so I can't comment further on that.

If nothing else, you could probably get away with having him as an expy of Jason and not get a lot of complaints.

Doesn't matter, I'm going with the Gokaigers screwing around Angel Grove.

I bet Gai'd be the happiest of them to meet the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. In Gokaiger, he alluded to the Power Rangers's existence once, and seems like a big enough fan that he'd be honored/flattered to meet the heroes who brought Sentai to America.

Because Gai seems like that kind of fanboy. Not like that creep Nobou Akagi, who was so angry that Power Rangers exists that he fantasized about beating up Jason and Tommy.

Meanwhile, howwever the other Gokaigers get on with them, I have the feeling Marvelous and Luka will take on look at the Command Center and try to loot as much they can carry.

I also had this spontaneous idea where, in the midst of this, Rita and Zedd send down another Evil Green Ranger Clone, just so we can see a Dragonzord vs Gou Ryu Rex fight.

I'm thinking of setting it before all that Peace Summit silliness. Also wondering if I should take Of Love and Bunnies as canon...

...

Yes. Yes I should.

What I have so far. Tentatively calling it either Power Ranger Taisen or Ranger Megawar Max.

Space. It's loud, noisy, and full of pirates, evil empires and biker gangs out to conquer planets. It has space mafia, space ninja, space martial artists, ghost ships, and even the occasional telepathic dog. There are hazards at every turn. Only the strong can survive there.

Also, no one ever puts up hazard signs.

So it was completely unsurprising that, on their way off to steal the 54th Greatest Treasure in the Universe (There was a list, and Marvelous was diligently working his way down it) after kicking Decade's ass in the last war (no matter what the crappy photographer said), the Gokai Galleon hit such an unmarked hazard and was sucked in.

Because space is convenient like that. You seldom instantly explode, you mostly just get sucked in.

Marvelous' last words before all the bouncing around rendered everyone unconscious was, “THIS IS ALL DECADE'S FAULT!”

Because it usually was. Somehow.

It was a perfectly ordinary day in Angel Grove. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, people were talking like low-pay non-union actors from the nineties, a skinless evil overlord was plotting on the moon and two guys were making like the teen rebel versions of Laurel and Hardy.

Then the flying pirate ship crashed into the park.

It was definitely a pirate ship. It had that pirate ship shape, complete with sails, and a vaguely skull-shaped graphic. The crossed swords were definitely pirate-like.

Naturally, people panicked. This being Angel Grove, they did so very athletically. When most people panic, there's a lot of falling down and pointing, screaming, and crouching down as if pretending that's somehow going to help. To give them credit, people usually try to pit their bodies between children and whatever they're panicking about. Angel Grove panicking, however, is a much more physical activity, and mainly involves running. Lots of running. The fact that no monsters appeared to terrorize them threw a wrench on their thinking, however.
