Note that the current sort order is not by release year; the current sort order is by "console generation", which is not the same thing (it's actually closer to "platform the game runs on", if anything). Release year would actually make more sense.

Special trousers. Very heroic.
One reason I have against sorting by medium of source material is figuring out just what medium such things as Hello Kitty and Ronald McDonald are supposed to belong to.

I'd add that sorting by platform would be bad as a lot of these games, possibly a majority, are multi-platform.

Is my understanding correct that these problems don't normally affect pinball?
I'm not sure it's applicable to pinball. Expecting pinball adaptations to be faithful to the spirit of a source is about as reasonable as expecting that from Star Wars lollipops and Space Balls beach towels.

Although if the trope is about quality in a broader sense, then anything that can be shoddily made would count. If Star Wars pinball games are badly built and fall apart easily, or are unfun to play, moreso than non-licensed pinball games, then it may be an example.

Although you can have shoddily-made towels and lollipops, too.

That is definitely true. A lot of licensed games are deliberately multiplatform, because it broadens their potential audience pool.

I think I will sort each game into folders for release year, rather than console generations.

Does that sound good? I'll start my work tomorrow morning if anyone else agrees.

The process in the TRS is to vote, and take action only after reaching consensus.

Sorting by release year is already on the crowner (the voting widget below). You can vote for it if you want it, but don't unilaterally take action while we are still voting. Especially when the action you want is losing the vote.

Do not sort by release year. Wait for the crowner to resolve.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.

Okay then, thanks.

I didn't see the Crowner widget at the bottom (I'm new to this site), so that's why I didn't know, and assumed since people were discussing the year sorting, I would do that.

I am very sorry if I am coming off as The Ditz on this site. I am very new to editing T Vtropes, and the features of this site's forum are confusing me a little.

But once the voting is decided, I will get to sorting the page.

[up] Don't worry about it, we all started like that once. I think that asking "hey, is it ok if I do this?" on this forum is the right approach; people will just tell you when it's not ok.

Sort by genre of source material (this is the original format of the page).
I have to remove the latter claim because, according to the Wayback Machine, it is untrue: the original page format was "really bad games, actually good games".

Well, it's 23:4 now and the only green option has been the obvious favorite for awhile now. Can we call this?

No you didn't, it's still open. You need to be a mod to call a crowner.

^To close a crowner. Not quite the same thing. Given that it's clear, I think you can simply proceed.

All right, I reorganized the entire page. Soon, I will reorganize the No Problem with Licensed Games page as well, because that one looks like it needs a lot of sorting.

Looking over the page...

(1) shall we modify the intro to be less focused on video games? I can think of numerous licensed board games that are also problematic.

(2) I find there's a couple of crappy video game sequels on there; that strikes me as a different trope.

[up]I don't see any reason why Board Games that didn't live up to their licenses couldn't be added too.

What should be done with games based on adaptations? Such as a game based on a movie based on a book?
