So four years ago when I had singing lessons at my school, the teacher classified me as a soprano.
But I'm starting to doubt that. As Physical Stamina can tell, I can sing the role of Clementina in The Desert Song
easily. Clementina is a mezzo role. I can also easily sing "Memory" from Cats
- Grizabella's big solo which goes down to G3, (actually learning that song's how I discovered I could do that in the first place) as does Adah's big solo in Naughty Marietta
, "Neath The Southern Moon", which unfortunately isn't so easy, as it has some HIGH notes. When I sing that, I have to strain
for the high notes. (Also I don't have a backing for it.) Is it possible for a soprano to sing mezzo easily? Clementina is the highest of those roles. Her lowest note is a C4, although "The Song Of The Brass Key" doesn't have much of a high range.
Note: my first ever teacher said I was a mezzo.
