So, one thing I've been thinking about recently is the idea of actually exploiting some of the massive generational gaps/timeskips in the genre instead of compressing them away.
Like, plan out a trilogy of SRW stories as a Generational Saga, with each story focusing on one generation. Form the core of the trilogy around a handful of shows that actually span that immense of a time (like Gundam AGE covering three generations, or Universal Century Gundam having stories spread out a hundred years), and then have other shows set in each generation to help flesh out the resulting world.
I mean, I'm just spitballing here, but some ideas might be including (but not limited to)
- Gen 1:
- Gundam AGE, first generation
- Robotech: The Macross Saga (chosen because Robotech was a conglomeration of three different mecha shows, but use the SDF Macross names and songs)
- Rebuild of Evangelion: 1.0, 2.0
- UC Gundam: 0079, 0080, 0083, 08th MS Team
- Steel Jeeg
- Tekkaman Blade
- Gen 2
- Gundam AGE, second generation
- Robotech: The Masters (based on Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross)
- Rebuild of Evangelion: 3.0, 4.0+1.0 (because let's face it, the fourth Rebuild movie will absolutely come out before I get even the first chapter of this monster written and published)
- UC Gundam: Zeta, ZZ, CCA, Unicorn (with Z/ZZ being pushed back in the timeline, in order to be much closer to CCA and Unicorn)
- Martian Successor Nadesico + The Prince Of Darkness
- Gen 3:
- Gundam AGE, third generation
- Robotech: The New Generation (based on Genesis Climber Mospeada)
- UC Gundam: F91, Crossbone, Victory (with Victory being pushed up in the timeline so that it's much closer to F91/Victory)
- Detonator Orgun
- New Steel Jeeg (one of the protags is the granddaughter of one of the original show's protags, remember?)
- New Getter Robo
- New Mazinger Impact! Z-Chapter On Television (admittedly, these last two are chosen almost purely because I want to have New Mazinger, New Getter, and New Jeeg come together and do their own version of the Final Dynamic Special)

Well, I mentioned the Crossbone manga... but it's also the only Gundam manga I've ever read thus far.

I think the latest SRW game, V, is going to have Hathaway's Flash. Crossbones in your list reminds me of that.

Manga is rare, but SRW can use it. They've used Crossbone as well as the Linebarrel's of Iron manga before.

I saw in the Voyage list that some concepts from the novel version of Full Metal Panic will go through. Here's to looking forward to it.
And hopefully the English localization for Asia isn't messed up.

I do not see the Legendary Defender cast being used in SRW fanfic. The only thing people seem to want to write about them is yaoi shipping fics hoping that will make Keith and Lance canon.

Wish someone had something for Megas XLR. Like to see how Coop fights the Titans or the A-LAWS when they surround his house and demand the surrender of Megas.

It's been used in a number of the games, man. Hell, J (the last GBA game, and also utterly gorgeous for the system it's on) even has a full English translation patch if you go looking for it.
Granted, J stops at the original anime, but still. W (the first game for the DS) adds in The Second Raid, and I'm positive there are a bunch of other games released in the near-decade since then that have used Sigma.

Yeah V'll explore things post-TSR and all, but I don't mind a read once in a while.

Z3 used both TV and post tv material to wrap up the story, complete with Laevatein being a playable unit.
The newest SRW V, is also set to have the same thing. It will be getting an english "translation" for South East Asia only which can be imported.

I remember seeing that in Z3, Sosuke has backup which meant that Nami wasn't offed by Kurama.

Since SBY is now in the franchise, anyone got good ideas on a space opera show provided that the backstory needs to be changed a bit.

What even
Weird Idea: A SRW story that's seen entirely from the perspective of what in a game would be a joke unit. Stuff like the Bonta-Kun suit, Sgt. Frog, the DS Gundam characters or even that custom Virtual-On robot made to look like Hatsune Miku.
The scenario I envisioned included was basically the normal SRW OG plot with other mecha series added in, through the Divine Wars up to the mess with the Inspectors and the Einst.
Some of the possible "joke units" I though of include:
- The Metal Slug tank from the series of the same name. Bringing in a new spin to the robots VS tanks argument by basically showing what happen when you apply the whacky physics that go into a giant robot to tank design. Probably there would be many instances of the squad invading anemy strong holds and destroying them from the inside out.
- One of heroines from Infinite Stratos, but with two catches. One is that due to the advent of giant robots and the creator of IS's being a uncooperative bitch, the technology is nowhere near as widespread, coveted or useful as it is in the show (no stablishment of a woman dominant society, either). The other is that due to being actually built for combat instead of a glorified sport, the power suits look completely different

- Berry Steakfries from the Halfbrick Studios games. As the memetic baddass that everybody heard from at some point. Might include Collossatron as well.

Something came to mind as I played GTA V a few weeks ago.
What if someone wrote Trevor in as a SRW good guy character...

Someone suggested in the WMG page of Voltron: Legendary Defender on the possibility of the original Voltron and the LD version together.
Crossing universes in this cases would be fun...

Personally, I'd write the other two GTA characters in so he'd have someone familiar to work with.

Personally, I like the G-Savior as it is. The movie is actually a lot better than its reputation would indicate.
