Yes, and they look like superpowered people, too.

Keep Until Better Image Suggested...definitely could use something better.

Not sure we'd be able to find an image that makes clear they don't actually have superpowers. Maybe something from one of the Trope Namer ads?

Keep the current image, but make it also a link to the video that shows off said "skyscraper-punting".

Maybe a panel of a comic describing a character like this? The first one that comes to mind is Negi Springfield describing Jack Rakan's background (EDIT: Chapter 243, p4-5). Maybe Rock Lee.

I don't see how the current image merits keeping - there's no evident difference between this and, say, a long shot of members of the Legion Of Super Heroes doing something similar. It seems like you need knowledge of the work for it to make any sense as an example.

I think we basically need an image with both:

  • Someone doing something that looks "superhuman" and
  • Someone talking about the fact that she actually isn't superhuman.

I don't think there's any way to get the trope across purely visually, unless (maybe) there's an image of Batman or Sherlock Holmes or James Bond doing something - where it's presumed that both everybody recognizes the character and knows he's not actually superhuman.

Possible borderline idea based on that thought: this meeting of Batman and Sherlock Holmes. The last panel could maybe be used, as Holmes looks quite old, and it's not difficult to deduce that he's talking about how he could possibly be long-lived enough to be walking around in the same time period as Batman.

Hmm...

A good image for this needs to explain somehow that if you train hard enough, you can do anything...

I have a couple of images I found online... how do I show them?

You need to put them in a link: [[URL]] not URL.

Or even better, [[URL description of pic]]...that way people have a clue as to what the pic is before clicking the link.

I think something along the lines of a character in a Training Montage followed by him Punching out Cthulhu or some such superhuman feat.

Hmm, that could work. The one-handed barbell lift thing certainly looks superhuman, unless Bruce is doing prop comedy.

I have arranged an image with the two panels and placed it in the article, as supported. I'm open to suggestions for the text below if someone has better ideas, but "Plus there's that whole bat-in-the-window thing..." requires the reader to be aware of that detail of Batman's origin (which is not included here, and if we used the whole page, the "atlas superpower" thing is less evident)

Don't jump the gun; we haven't actually decided to use the pic, just that it's an option to consider. I pulled it off the page.

I so want to reference a scene from The Dark Knight Returns in the caption, but I think it'd be too long: "How else do you think he could carry 220 pounds of sociopath to the top of Gotham's Twin Towers?"

Just train hard enough, and you will become the greatest superhero.

Why was the original removed?

I think the caption underneath it explained it. "Train hard enough and you too can punt skyscrapers..."

Can we keep the caption and least and just modify it? I liked that one! -_- "Train hard enough and you too can punt/block/punch/kick [insertgiantobject].

[up]Read the earlier posts in the thread. That image was a bad illustration because it relies entirely on the caption to inform the reader that they aren't actually superpowered.
