Really a Useful Note: Appeal To Force get usage counts

When I read this trope, I'm not sure if it's trying to be a normal trope, or a useful notes page. The formal also makes me go "Why did they do it like that?" Also, this article is almost 2 years old; lacking examples considering that?

It's the product of a split of Logical Fallacies. It was done rather haphazardly from what I remember

World's Toughest Milkman
Note that Screw the Rules, I Have a Nuke! claims to be more or less the same thing, except in trope format, and it's in the trope repair shop for underuse, lack of clarity, and very misleading name. One (partial) solution to both problems might be to move this to Useful Notes, and transplant the Nuke trope in its place.

(The other discussion is here.)
"Existential Despair" is an oxymoron.

Appeal to Force is the most basic logical fallicy, and should not be omitted from the list simply because somebody doesnt like the way it's formatted. If you're going to make a big list of logical fallicies, you have to include its simplest form.

That said, the whole thing is a series of Useful Notes pages. Move one, move them all.

EDIT: Ack, the formatting be awful alright. That closing paragraph should come before the list of examples.

Also realises that omitting the page from the list was never discussed.

(Bangs head.)

Bumping here. Do we move this to Useful Notes and plug Screw the Rules, I Have a Nuke! in?

If you're going to move Appeal to Force to Useful Notes, all of the other pages on Logical Fallacies should be moved there as well.

[up]Aren't they already useful notes? Even if they haven't been properly namespaced yet?

Agree that the Fallacies pages should be moved to useful notes.

Bumping this. Do we need a crowner for the Logical Fallacies namespacing here?

These are tropes. Let's don't just have a page-move drill for its own sake. There is plenty to do.

At most they might need some text explaining how they are used in storytelling.

So do we just need a rewrite? Unfortunately, I am not good at description rewrites.

World's Toughest Milkman
But we already have this separately as a trope. (See above.) Two different names for the same trope can't be a good thing.
"Existential Despair" is an oxymoron.
Well, cut Screw the Rules I Have a Nuke!, then, if only because of the crappy title. I'd much rather the trope have a name that will be used than yet another useless snowclone.

Ok, I think that we have already two tropes for the storytelling use of Appeal to Force (Screw the Rules, I Have a Nuke! for the character using it and Might Makes Right for the author), but since the former has only 70 wicks and a line of dialogue as a name, I propose to put the current trope Screw the Rules, I Have a Nuke! into the page Appeal to Force and ditch or redirect Screw the Rules, I Have a Nuke!.

eta: Because there is no point in disambiguating.

Makes sense.

Looks like a good idea to me.[up][up]

Also, ugh, that formatting is so bad.

Ok, do we make a crowner for this change?

Also, I've found an older thread that deals with some of the other pages on the index.

Haven't seen arguments against the change. May as well just proceed.

I'll do it as soon as dinner is done, then.

And did the rename. I put the old def of Appeal to Force under Sandbox.Appeal To Force, by the way.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
