Anyone else hate not having friends that share their interests?

I'm you average nerdy girl (if there ever was one). I love anime, comics, fanfiction - all of that stuff. The only problem is, none of my other friends are the same.

Now, don't get me wrong. I love my friends dearly, and they accept me for who I am. I just think it gets a little lonely in real life not having people who have the same interests you do.

Earlier in high school, I used to be friends with people with more similar interests, and I was in anime club. But it turned out to be not such a great fit. Most of the people in anime club were super annoying, and the people I was still friends with really weren't a great match with me academically, socially, or, most importantly, intellectually. None of them ended up in any of my classes with me, so it was kind of inevitable I found a new group.

However, it's just a bit lonely not being able to talk about anything geeky/fannish with my friends. I have lots of interests I can talk about with them when we hang out, but those aren't it. Thankfully, I do have a boyfriend who does have similar interests as me, but he lives more than two hours away, so we can't see each other as much as we'd like.

Anyways, it's the summer, and I was thinking of reconnecting with my old friends. But I think they're kind of judgmental about me partying? I'm not sure, but that's kind of the vibe I've been getting, even though they said I was socially awkward all the time.

Soooo, I don't know what to do. I'm guessing this situation doesn't even have a solution. But I think it's nice to get it off my chest to a bunch of people who can understand.
