Just throwing ideas around. Every time I hear of a DC character I can't help thinking of what his role would be in the Marvel universe, or vice-versa.

Did another skim and thought of an intro. SHIELD would want answers from the Justice Avengers regarding the recent chaos in the streets, and send Coulson and maybe a few others in. They go for the most identifiable hero to chase up after - probably Iron Man who they can link to Stark pretty easily (Stark isn't public with his identity in this RP is he?). So Coulson would meet with Stark and we'll see where things go from there. If the poor guy can get a meeting at all, that is. At some point down the line, I'd like Coulson to end up being their government liason or something similar.

Iron Man has gone public because of a combination of people going after Tony Stark in particular and having the worst-kept secret identity of anyone out there.

Gotcha. Let's face it, it was only a matter of time. Though I was looking forward to having Coulson becoming certain that Tony Stark is Batman.

OK, I'm going to be introducing my character (Access) soon. I'm thinking that his powers were triggered by the events of the Joker/mutant thing, except he still doesn't realize it and is carrying about with his normal life until he runs into some other character. If there's any problem with this, let me know.

The origin of Access' powers seems fairly plausible.

[up][up][up]I'm certain to see some sort of drama from that down the line when he has to go against the US Government at some point. If pressured, Rocket will be following the interests of the Guardians more so than the US.

  • Alias: SHIELD Field Agent 616
  • Real Name: Phillip Coulson
  • Gender: Male
  • Age: Mid-thirties
  • Appearance: Link
  • Alignment: Good
  • Personality: When on duty Coulson keeps up a friendly, but reserved and professional demeanour. He is mentally well balanced and rational - often serving as a stabilising agent of sorts in the SHIELD teams he is assigned to. His admiration for those who use their extraordinary abilities to help others is tempered by years of experience as a SHIELD agent. He has seen some of the best and worst that meta-humans have to offer in his years at SHIELD. While he understands the need for organisation and protocol to keep order, he has little respect for pointless bureaucratic obstruction.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Special Forces training. Coulson is a capable marksman and hand-to-hand fighter, like any SHIELD Agent.
    • SHIELD authority: As a SHIELD agent, Coulson has pulling power in the US government. If he feels the situation necessitates it, he can request civilian evacuations, SHIELD military support or even prisoner releases. However, these actions can be vetoed by Director Fury if he feels Coulson has overstepped his boundaries.
  • Weapons and Equipment: Carries a Glock 23 when on duty, as well as a compact taser. Coulson also has access to bulletproof vests, electronic lockpicks, stun grenades, submachine guns and other SHIELD gear should the situation require it.
  • Origin: Coulson grew up enamoured with the stories of heroes such as Captain America. Precisely how he ended up in SHIELD is not available for public dissemination, but he has served under SHIELD long enough to become an accomplished Field Agent.

Things could get hectic for me at my end, so don't be surprised if I don't leap in on the first game day. I can be pretty sporadic at times, which is why I only chose a supporting character.

I don't think Iron Man is actually that well known of a super hero. I could be wrong, but I got the feeling that, at least at the moment, the most well known capes are Power Girl, Spider-Man, Captain Marvel, and Blue Beetle. I think Iron Man's only been doing this for a couple of days, and the most of the rest are more the Trench Coat type of hero. The easiest hero for S.H.I.E.L.D to figure out the identity of so far is probably the Blue Beetle. Not only did he reappear after going missing for a year on the day the Blue Beetle became active, he spends a lot of time with Peacemaker (A former gun toting superhero that killed people and worked for the government, so they probably keep an eye on him), he has gone to the house of Danielle Garrett(Granddaughter of the original Blue Beetle, whose identity is actually known to the public. On an side note, I think Ted Kord left ownership of Kord Enterprises to her. I haven't been able to find anything saying either way on the internet, but I could have sworn I remember reading that in the comics.). So it should be pretty easy for S.H.I.E.L.D to figure out who he is.

Thing is, Tony Stark is public with his identity. He's also the most recognisable and easy to reach member. No need to track him down. Coulson will try and arrange a meeting, then talk about Iron Man's recent escape from the Ten Rings, the even more recent New York chaos and the formation of the Justice Avengers. SHIELD decides that they will attach Coulson as a liason to the new team to keep an eye on them and ensure cooperation and coordination between SHIELD and the team.

Perhaps SHIELD weren't prepared for the Ney York riots. Maybe their helicarrier and airforce was in drydock for retrofits and they couldn't get enough help over in time before the pulse. So they decide that they will cooperate with a more flelxible superhero team, providing intel and resources, while preserving the team's autonomy. Think of how many more lives would have been saved with SHIELD and the heroes sharing info and tactics.

He's right... going to Tony Stark is a better choice than anyone else as he is both public and well-known as Tony Stark, although Coulson may drop hints that he knows who others like Blue Beetle that had been careless are. So far the least careless hero of the RP has been Power Girl, so I don't expect SHIELD to know who she is.

SHIELD probably has files on most of the heroes, but for the newer heroes they'd be largely incomplete and filled with conjecture. They've probably got Spidey figured out, though. Maybe Coulson was already tasked to speak with Stark about his escape, like in the movie, but the recent crisis compounded this.

OK, How is this?

Name: Wonder Woman

Real Name: Artemis

Gender: Female

Age: 30-ish

Appearance:

Alignment: Pragmatic?

Personality: A little arrogant at times, short-tempered, and oftentimes her first reaction to many volatile situations is to use violence, rather than reason as the first Wonder Woman did. But she has a strong sense of honor and compassion for those in need. She does NOT suffer fools and idiots gladly.

Powers and Abilities: Unlike the original Wonder Woman, Artemis does not naturally possess superpowers. having only peak human levels of strength, reflexes and endurance. She is a master hand-to-hand fighter combining many assimilated fighting techniques and is a weapons expert in both the use and manufacturing of weapons, including modern weaponry but mostly favoring the bow and arrow.

Weapons and Equipment: The Gauntlets of Atlas - increases her strength to 10 times human norms. The Sandals of Hermes - enables her to fly and run at high speeds. The Armor of Shim'Tar - provides limited invulnerability. The Lasso of Truth - (everyone knows what it does, right?)

Origin: The first Wonder Woman, the Amazon Princess Diana, came to Man's World just before the Second of Earth's great Wars, to fight against the tyranny and oppression she saw being inflicted upon the world. She remained afterwards for many years, eventually leaving in the early 1950's.

Now a new age has dawned and Queen Hippolyta has been given a vision of the future, one in which Wonder Woman returns to Man's World, but at the eventual cost of her life. Unwilling to loose her daughter, she proclaimed that a new Age requires a new Wonder Woman and called for a contest to decide who should be Diana's replacement.. Artemis, unknowingly helped by the Queen, won the contest. She has been given several magical objects to help her in her fight against the new challenges that will await her in Man's World.

Notes: When Diana returned to Paradise Island, Queen Hippolyta decided to open an Embassy in New York so that The Amazon Nation would still continue to interact with the world at large. It is still open today, hosting lectures, occasional classes, and poetry readings. Amazons also run soup kitchens and medical clinics for the poorest for New York's citizens in various parts of New York. The secure areas of the Embassy are upstairs. The Amazon Ambassador is named Eris, which is a source of some humor amongst some Amazons that their greatest Diplomat, speaker and negotiator is named after the Goddess of Discord.

Well, this is an interesting possibility. I'd scarcely considered the possibility of Diana being a Golden Age superhero.

I'm tempted to say that you're accepted, though I'm wondering if anyone is interesting in playing the original WW. I swear it's been brought up in conversation at least once.

It was me, but I don't really mind him playing Artemis, as I have other options and am enjoying my time as Rogue right now. Artemis was one of the Antihero Substitutes of the Big Three in The '90s. You know... The Death Of Superman... Knightfall... Wonder Woman went through that also.

At least in the continuity of the comics, there was a Golden Age Wonder Woman, though she was retconned into being Hippolyta herself rather than Diana. However, all the Amazons are The Ageless, even Diana.

Oddly enough, while Steel, Superboy, and Artemis became valued supporting characters, poor Azrael got killed and replaced himself.

[up][up][up][up][up]Interesting take on the character. I like how it simplifies and makes sense out of the mess that Wonder Woman's origin became, while still inserting the Artemis subplot.

I'd like to mention that, in DC, the Amazons have (mostly) been heroic, but in Marvel, they're villainous. This is because Hippolyta is evil there! Mostly this is due to her feud with Hercules. We could meet things in the middle here and say that our Hippolyta is neither good nor evil, but does what she feels is necessary (which in this cause, would include sacrificing someone else in her daughter's place.)

[up]We did have a discussion on that earlier. The general concensus was that Hera planted lies and paranoia among the Amazons about Hercules, turning him into a villain in their eyes. In order to make the ruse perfect, she then cast a spell upon Herc that made him JUST as bad, if not WORSE then all the BS the Amazons were fed about him just before entering Themyscera. Herc, while under the spell, basically tore up the Amazons' shit ROYALLY. The spell then wore off long after Herc left the ruined island, leaving Herc with Hippolyta's girdle and no real memory of how he claimed it.

The Amazons had a grudge against him ever since, and Herc may or may not be blissfully unaware of the atrocities he caused them while under Hera's influence.

Well, the part about her putting a spell on Herc is an ambiguous point, but it was still pretty much a classic case of Poor Communication Kills.
