Battler > that TTGL > speedometer.
TTGL is, again, a goddamn triumphant example which is nigh impossible to capture in a succinct image. Thing is that in the first frame of the current image? The scale is already filled. TWICE. It is first dark, then it fills with green, then with white, then with rainbow and then explodes into the air and cover the entire cockpit. Scale with double layer of measures against going off the scale, went off the scale. Which results in a goddamn giant pile of images to capture it all, made worse by the unconventional meter shape.
Speedometer is just bland, though =/
Battler and the speedometer are both better than the current one, which bears no resemblance to any sort of scale or readout device that I recall seeing. Its ability to illustrate the trope seems to be an Informed Ability. I mean, really, spirals? Wha?
I almost want to hold out for a better option, but the current pic just makes so little sense to me that I'm willing to go with almost anything else.
And I say all this despite the fact that I suspect the current image is from a show I quite like, though I haven't seen it in a few years. (I didn't check the source, because I didn't want that to influence me.)
eta: oh yeah, "TTGL"—of course it's the show I thought. Still doesn't make it any more clear, though it does make me wish it were clear.
Yeah, one reason I'm voting for Battler is because there appears to have been no reason why it was removed in the first place. And it was the winner of a previous Image Pickin', so removing it without discussion was already a red flag. Plus, I think it's a fine example on its own merits, without adding more nines or anything.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that that TTGL example (or something similar) was brought up in the image pickin' thread that resulted in us using the Battler image in the first place, and it lost to Battler.
