This could go either way in my opinion. It will be cool to see Daryl and Merle's adventures before getting to Atlanta, but a huge part of the Walking Dead is the focus on story rather than action. The action may also detract from the threat of the walkers. Hopefully when you choose to fight, it will be difficult to kill multiple walkers at once, since they are shown to be able to overpower survivors even in small groups.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down!I don't see why they couldn't have just made a new group of characters for this.. Could easily chronicle the adventures of a different group of people in the Walking Dead universe somewhere completely different.
But are they really going to portray Merle accurately?
He's vile as hell, but do people really want to play a game where Merle runs around ranting about zombie niggers and kikes and shit?
Merle is despicable, but that's part of his character. I wouldn't change it for the world, but I don't think people would really be into playing a game like that which portrayed him accurately.
Which means they'll either make a more PC version of Merle who watches his mouth a bit more, which isn't faithful to the story, or there's going to be some controversy.
I just don't like it when games get made about actual characters in-story, 9/10 times they get butchered.
Despite all of the hate people heap onto Activision, you have to admit that they're pretty good at getting away with fitting controversial things into their games. The ways you can kill people in Prototype are pretty insane, and the "No Russian" level in Modern Warfare 2 lets you kill an airport of civilians. But sadly, Moral Guardians are often more concerned when it comes to foul language and racial slurs than when people get dismembered (which will probably happen in this game as well), so we'll see how it all goes.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down!Yeah, I mean I'm not opposed to the language part, because that's Merles character. He's a white supremacist asshole, and agreed on the comment with activision. They usually manage to get away with being rather edgy.
I'm ok with it if they stay true to the characters, but regardless, I would really rather have a new batch of characters altogether than run around with friggin Merle.
More Walking Dead is cool, but as an FPS? Not sure if want.
#IceBearForPresidentWanna there's co-op so you'll have to play as Merle? Mm?
Jonah FalconI've really enjoyed the Telltale game so far, but I'm not entirely sure about an FPS. I like the Telltale game because it has very little action, and the few exciting moments are portrayed as pretty desperate, and that can't come across in an FPS.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."I wonder how they'll manage to make slow zombies a threat. One shot to the head and all that.
Walkers usually don't tend to be a huge problem in the comics or the show unless they catch you by surprise or they're in large groups. I guess it will be the same here.

You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down! Now that I think of it this could work if it was done similiar to Condemned.
#IceBearForPresidentWell, honestly, I can't really imagine a better character to have as the star. I could legitimately imagine Daryl and Meryl mass-murdering droves of Zombies with casual ease. In the context of the show, I'm not having that hard of a time imagining that Daryl Dixon could score the sort of body-count that we'd see in a FPS.
I'm cautiously optimistic for this. I just hope that there's a good focus on story. These two are fascinating characters and I would absolutely love seeing some back story for them.
Well, how about very limited ammo? Dead Island forced you quite nicely into melee.
Jonah FalconRooker and Reedus are signed on.
It'll take place before the show, when Daryl and Merle are trying to make it to Atlanta.
Jonah FalconCould go either way. Daryl is a cool character, but the Walking Dead has never been about how awesome it is to mow down hordes of zombies.
Not all FPS's are Serious Sam you know.
Jonah FalconTech demo is pretty encouraging. It's prioritizing stealth — and I'm willing to bet you ammo is scarce.
Jonah Falcon"Ammo is scarce" - note to developers, these are the the three words guaranteed for me not to buy your game. Learned that lesson in Resident Evil. Since I have never watched the show or read the comic, and don't really feel the need to, I think I will pass on this one. The last zombie anything I watched was either 28 Days Later or Shaun of the Dead so that's been going on for a while.
That was a rather awful trailer.
Terrible trailer.
Conceptually, it's a nice idea. Very much like Dead Island, but I strongly suspect it might not be done as well as it could be. Basing a game around two established characters is generally a recipe for disaster.
GloveAndBoots is good for Blog!@Tam: You may not like it, but other people do.
"It's so hard to be humble, knowing how great I am."It wasn't actually a trailer. A fan took some game play clips from an interview with IGN and edited them together to make a trailer.
Getting a Wii U release and is slated for March 26th.

Just announced. It'll be based on the TV show (Telltale's is based on the comic.)
