There's a trope for when audiences don't like the/a lead character. It's not this one.
Looking at Runescape (which I haven't even played for almost a decade...yikes.), would a microtransaction feature or a wheel spin minigame really fit this trope?
A common complaint is that they update it more than they do the game itself, so, I dunno...
The pig of Hufflepuff pulsed like a large bullfrog. Dumbledore smiled at it, and placed his hand on its head: "You are Hagrid now."Moved to short term.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerAre we sure this should go to Short Term? I thought it was more akin to Complete Monster cleanup - where we also check the new entries.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanYeah, I'd think this is more a long term/perpetual issue.
All your safe space are belong to TrumpIt's not widespread enough, like Complete Monster, and doesn't need nearly as many hands.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI have an issue with this trope, and that's the fact that apparently all Creator's Pet characters are also The Scrappy by default. What about when there's a character who's clearly the creator's favorite, but isn't subject to nigh-universal fan hatred?
Case in point: In Stargate SG 1, we have Samantha Carter, and she seems to fit all the qualifications for Creator's Pet, except very few people consider her to be The Scrappy.

I'm guessing you'd need a trip to Lost And Found.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanNot sure if it's fixable, but Creator's Pet is still listed on the Stale Report under TRS.
The TRS banner also shows up on the trope page, though that may be desirable until the cleanup's done.

Oppression anywhere is a threat to democracy everywhere. The Stale Report can only be taken off by locking a thread.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanSo what was missing with Ray Langston from CSI? and apologies....I had no idea I was edit warring.
Fly High, Seek PeaceJust a question, are we not allowed to list fan works example here or in the scrappy page.
I...don't get what you're trying to say. Are you trying to say that OCs from fan works are Creator's Pets or Scrappies?

^ I suppose they can be, if they are widely known enough to have a hatedom. Like Sonichu could qualify as a Creator's Pet, yeah? Or Mellisa Picard maybe? Ebony Dark'ness Dementia Raven Way? Dark Yagami?
Hmm, now there is a question for you, can a character from a trollfic be a The Scrappy?
Following the ymmv page to Cars, the franchise itself qualifies. This is misuse, right?
The entire Franchise, a Creator's Pet. Hahano. Kill that.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanOK...I know Langston fits the first two criteria, but can any one weigh in on if he fits the last two or not? I think he fits the third, because of that whole crossover thing-it seemed a stretch for a CSI 1 to get sent on that trip-but can anyone say whether or not the characters talk him up at all, for the final point?
Fly High, Seek PeaceBecause this seems to be increasingly common nowadays, I get a feeling this is going to lead to a Trope Sectionectomy, if not an outright Page Deletion, because of how this trope is as YMMV as the Base Breaker trope.
May I please ask that if this trope gets obliterated in some way, could you reinstate examples for Base Breaker? Or could you just promise not to do a Sectionectomy on this trope?
...Burn...With as many inbound links as it has, I seriously doubt anyone will propose such a drastic change.
Uh, you do realize they were willing enough to do things like blow up every Mary Sue topic and turn it into empty trivia, and then, after the Great Ghetsis Debate, systematically hunt down and delete every redirect to the Complete Monster trope on the site that isn't connected to having the justification of "he WOULD be a Complete Monster if it wasn't for his Freudian Excuse".

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman???
...Burn...I edited that post out, because I was not sure if I should have replied.

I only watched the first season...but I'm gonna have to say she counts. No punishment for her actions, most of the male cast is romantically interested in her (okay, two out of three, but still), and in interviews the cast keep going on about how she's The Heart of the team and how she's the most grounded...but she's not. The role of The Heart is filled by the female scientist, while Gwen spends most of her time cheating on her husband and fantasizing about Jack (who's not the one she was cheating with, mind).
It's been a few years since I watched it, though.
