That's kinda implied when you go through the entire tsundere character arc in the introductory episode, Chaos. You don't do that and go back to your tsundere ways unless Status Quo Is God.

Wait, wait... are you telling me that this series migth actually portray character actually IN a relationship instead of just dancing around the issue for whole series?! That's something you don't see everyday.

On second though DO NOT tell me! I want this to be a surprise! smile
Its a harem anime but Godou sits firmly on the farthest ends of type 2b what with his super badass powers. I think Erica acts more like Anna from Shaman King though from what I heard.

Edit: Spoilered for Shlugo.

Oh boy, lookit that schmuck bait.

But yeah, my hope is that Erica's role in this episode was basically the writer saying 'just pretend we went through the Tsundere character arc properly so that we can skip that and move on to stuff that hasn't been done to death.'
Welp, sig's different now.

From what I've heard they streamlined whole vol 3 into this episode to get goudou origin story over with.

Yes vol 3. Apparently in Vol 1 he's already Campione and vol 3 is sort of a prequel.

Next episode will be interesting then.

Well, actually I guess they wouldn't have to scrap the introductions since we haven't really been introduced to much of anything yet.

Here's hoping the characters shine next episode.

And that could turn out to be the strong point, because even if there was budget saving all over the place, particularly in the backgrounds, the characters never seemed off-model and were animated decently.

Between checking what characters are doing and keeping track of the subtitles I have little time to look at the backgrounds anyway. tongue

@Shulgo: I read that as them streamlining volumes 1-3 into one episode. evil grin
If that was a non-indicitve first episode, I'm all for it.

Or don't, because we're not allowed to post links to piracy.

This is true.

This thread is already larger than the threads for Acchi Kocchi and Space Brothers combined. I find that far funnier than it should be.

It's a promising first episode, I'll give ya that. It felt natural. Like an RPG with proper pacing

This... this was actually friggin' awesome. The lead is already showing badass cred and generally the characters are somewhat interesting. Even had a laugh out of the drunk scenes. I was really pumped for most of the episode, especially when Goudo went UBW on Victor. Yeah, great idea giving a random dude godly powers.

Only thing that irked me was that random narration at the end, but eh, this show has still far exceeded my expectations (which were basically "think DXD but better").

I see that this is actually a flashback-slash-origin story in the original light novels? Interesting.

Be interesting to see how many novels this covers. I think they're setting it up for two, what with the foreshadowing and whatnot. Three would be doable, but it'd involve a little more compression than I'd like.

Liking the light novels so far, so I hope this adaption does well. Echoing the comments of others regarding Erica's Tsundere status - She's most definitely not. She's a bit of a troll to him, but she's consistently 100% dere. I'd say there's a fair bit of Belligerent Sexual Tension involved, but almost all of it comes from Godou trying to put the brakes on whatever Erica's pulling to get the two of them closer together. The second girl introduced gets described as Tsundere, but I don't think it really fits - she has moments, but it's never really at the 'Resorts to violence' level.

Episode 2 is out.

Godou is a pimp. Nuff said.

Looks like they're throwing events from the LN in all out-of-order and whatnot, which is rather disappointing, but I guess it's the only way to adapt five, six-ish novels in the space of a season. They've screwed up the dynamic Godou and Erica had at the start, that's for sure.

The first novel opens with Erica and Godou having known each other for months and already at the 'implicitly trusts each other' stage. She calls him up out of the blue to bring him to Italy, which invites his bitching about how it's only been two weeks since he was last over there. They do the fight (at night) with Erica flirting with him the whole time. She doesn't move to Japan until the end of the novel. Yuri doesn't get introduced until halfway through, as part of the fight with LN SPOILERS Athena. She also isn't told to get closer to him until the second novel, as I recall.

Changing the dynamic makes sense when they moved these events up to just a week after the prologue.

As for everything else... Weird. Maybe the writer gave them to OK to shift the story around to at least give the story a solid ending in the short span of episodes it's getting?

Who cares. If there is a god, it's Godou. Just.... look at the opening! So pimp!
