Also, I was just looking at the chararcter page. Marcus doesn't really fit the Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
trope. A Bitch in Sheep's Clothing
is someone who pretends
to be a nice guy in order to manipulate people. where as Marcus's usual affableness is genuine, so it's more a case of Beware the Nice Ones
For those of you who think I'm flip-flopping on Marcus's personality, allow me to explain: Marcus's natural emotional state, is one of contemplative neutrality. Unlike say, Peter, who makes quick judgements about people and jumps through hopes to justify those opinions, Marcus considers everyone like a blank etch-a-sketch. With his feelings and attitudes towards them modified by there behaviour. Meaning that if a person does something to piss him off, he will be furious
but unless they continue the same actions, he'll return to being neutral towards you. This leads him to having emotions that are intense, but breif.
Take Gretel as an example:
First he was angry with her, and her increasing arrogance and stupidity
made him determined to break her, as he saw her as nothing but poisonous decoration that needed to be wiped out.
But when she made that comeback, the new data shifted his opinion of her. He could see now that she clearly had skill, but she was negelecting it in favour of needless showboating. This has lead Marcus from hating her, to pitying her, since he sees her as wasted potential.
Ah, Excellent, thank you.
