Michael: Aaand we're back folks! I'm Michael Hartman here with my broad cast partner Stan, and what a show we have for you tonight! This round we have Roxas Lionheart going up against newcomer Gretel, filling in for Samantha who was unfortunately called home due to a family emergency. I gotta say, I'm itching to see what this new kid can do. What do you think Stan? Stan: That is exactly right, Michael! It is a beautiful day here for a duel and I can't wait for this to get started! Oh, looks like I don't have to wait long. On one side, he defeated Sigmund last round with stunning efficiency, the bright crystal of East Academy, give it up for Sky dorm's Roxas Lionheart! On the other, we have the darkhorse who is filling in for Samantha, the musician with the ambition, make some noise for Earth dorm's Gretel Sonant! Michael: And Roxas starting out strong here with an 1800 power Sapphire Pegasus. Not a lot of monsters can match that kind of power this early in the game. Stan: And he lays down an Emerald Tortoise and a face down to boot! Very solid first turn. As for Gretel, she... Did she just end her turn?! Are you seeing what I think I just saw, Michael? Marcus: (*Chuckles*) Ah, the luck of the draw. Your best friend one minute and your worst enemy the next. Stan: Indeed it is, Michael. It's got to be a really good draw if you don't even bother putting it out on the field! In contrast, Roxas being very active with his cards, sending Kuraz to the grave and Pegasus to the top of the deck. What do you think he's got planned? Michael: Of course, it could always be a bluff on her part. As for Roxas, I'm guessing he's planning to either swarm the field from the graveyard, or else simply deprive Gretel of any targets for her trap. Stan: Very plausible theory there, Michael. Let's what happens when Cobalt Eagle attacks! Michael: WOW! I take back what I said about a bad draw! The lovely young Gretel has just summoned a 2000 power Gardna to the field! Not only does she now have the lead in raw strength, but she's now gained a huge psychological advantage, as Roxas now has to be wondering if she's got any more tricks like that up her sleeve. Stan: Got to agree with you there, Michael. Gardnas have always featured a defensive and adaptive playstyle, so we're definitely going to see some strategy out of Gretel here which is always a treat! Here, we see her start off with Gagaga Kaiser! Michael: Gagaga Kaiser AND Gagaga Gardner, It looks like Gretels planning to swarm the field which could put enormous pressure on Roxas. Stan: Not only that, but swarming the field with Gagagas can only mean one thing: Xyz monsters! Hope Roxas has a countermeasure, or those monsters will spell the end for him! Michael: Well Stan, it looks like you get your countermeasure! Kuraz the Light Monarch! 2400 attack! And Roxas has just cleared away Gretel's entire swarm! God I love this game!! Stan: Gretel had better draw something good, or else- Oh! She just activated her Pot of Duality! Michael: You're right Stan. And it looks like she's chosen Gagagaback! For those of you who don't know, "Gagagaback" is a spell card that allows you to Special Summon all your destroyed Gagaga monsters at the cost of 600 life per card. If Roxas isn't careful, he could end up walking into a world of pain. Stan: Ayuppers, Michael. But Gretel ends her turn with absolutely no cards on her field while staring down a Level 6 Monster! Will Kuraz light the way, or will it face the music? But the real question is, what is Gretel planning? Michael: Well Stan, considering the last time she had no monsters on the field, I'd say she's got more ready to special summo- And it looks like I was right! Gagaga Gardna! Looks like Gretel's trying to create a Stone Wall here! Stan: Indeed, with Gardna's effect, it can't be destroyed by battle. Unless Roxas has something like Fissure or Shield Crush, it's most certainly not going to look good for him. Now Gretel draws her card... and activates the Gagagabolt card! Tell me you saw this coming, Michael! Michael: Truth be told, I didn't Stan, and a DEVASTATING combo from Gretel put's her back on the offensive! Look's like we've got us quite the power player here! Meanwhile Roxas is still trying to build up his crystal's, but if he can't come up with an effective counter next turn, he's going to be in for a world of hurt. Stan: Oh man! What just happened? It seems Roxas is wondering the exact same thing as he has absolutely no rebuttal to Gretel's killer move from before and merely summons Amber Mammoth and switches Cobalt Eagle to Defense Mode. Oh man, I don't think I can watch this. Oh, the humanity! Michael: Hey Stan? Can I ask you something? Why is it we're always agreeing on everything? I mean considering the way these commentaries normally go, shouldn't we be at each others throats, with one of us being biased towards one player, and the other guy being biased towards player two? Stan: Aarrreee ya sure? These things can go either way. Of course, people don't always have the same opinion, but for now, it seems we agree on what is going on here. And what is going on here is freaking epic! Roxas's life points just dropped by a HUGE amount! I'm not sure he can take much more of that! Michael: Dont count your champions before they've won Stan, anyone can make a comeback! And if I'm hearing this right, it looks like we could be seeing Gretel's Djinni going head-to-head against Rainbow Dragon! What a monumentous event that would be! Stan: Don't tease me, man! Look! With only Crystal Beacon, Roxas has brought two Ruby Carbuncles, Emerald Tortoise, Sapphire Pegasus, and Amber Mammoth! Not to mention Topaz Tiger in the Spell and Trap Zone! Oh man, this is how powerful Crystal Beasts can be! Michael: Indeed it is Stan, but even a swarm deck this mighty won't be enough if they can't overcome Gretel's Djinni Stan: True... In the end, Roxas was only able to shave off a few life points. I guess luck wasn't with him this duel, and neither wass Rainbow Dragon. Michael: And Gretel Sonant advances with an absolutely shocking victory over Roxas Lionheart! I gotta tell you Stan, If this girl makes it to the finals, we are in for a treat!!
