Petty Reasons to Watch Something

Your, "Just Here for Godzilla" moments. Have you ever looked up into something just for a minor reason of something else?

I've watched a fair number of anime series because I heard something from the soundtrack and liked it. For example, I watched Sora No Woto after reading a review of the soundtrack and Angel Beats after hearing the opening.

Does 'a slight chance of tits' count?

I watched iDOLM@STER because I saw fanart of one of the characters crying Tears of Joy and thought it was pretty.

I started reading Homestuck because I thought the picture on it's trope page was cool...and because it popped up regularly whenever I hit the random page button.

...

Err. I couldn't be bothered to change the TV channel.

And that was how I got into How I Met Your Mother.

I discover a lot of shows like this. Phineas And Ferb for example.

Tits are the exception.

Anyways, Watch It for the Meme, back when I was an idiot.

I've watched stuff before because I saw a clip from the movie and wanted to know the context.

I watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica because I was attracted to Kyoko and I heard that she had a subtexual flirtationship with Sayaka...

Oh God, that's gotta be one of the most petty reasons somebody could watch that show But I regret nothing, because that show is amazing and if you like deconstructions/anime/magical girls at all, you should go watch it. NOW

I'll admit I started watching Spartacus Blood and Sand just because I heard Lucy Lawless gets naked in it.

I got into Doctor Who because I was tired of my friends constantly making references to it without me being able to understand them.

Although I'm over it now, my I Carly phase started when I was hanging out in the hospital while a relative was dying, and the whole time the waiting room TV was playing either that or Drake And Josh.

I started watching Natsu No Arashi simply because it was made by Studio Shaft. I had no other knowledge about it before watching. Also I read Catcher In The Rye because of the references to it in Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex.

Oh, and sign me up for the "didn't bother to change the channel"-club for House MD.

The only reason I ever even BOTHERED looking up Gurren Lagann was when I found out Steve Blum was in it.

Similarly, the only reason I gave Code Geass a shot was because of Crispin Freeman.

Got in to Yu Gi Oh because my big sister watched it, got in to The Legend Of Zelda because my brother played it, got in to A Very Potter Musical because my friends kept making jokes about it that I didn't understand...

Got into Death Note because of seeing YT Ps concerning the imfamous potato chip scene.

There are a fair number of anime series that I have searched out and watched specifically because they were used in AMV Hell, including but not limited to:

• Maria Holic*
  Actually, I only watched the first three episodes. The constant "I'm going to rape you in your sleep" made me decide against finishing it.

• School Rumble
• Black Lagoon
• High School Of The Dead

Got into the Big Bang Theory because a girl I wanted to date told me to watch it when I told her I had nothing to do on Valentine's Day.

Friendship is Magic exploded on the internet and became a memetic juggernaut because bored, vengeful people on 4chan were gathering evidence to discredit a shitty TV critic.

As for me, I got into Pokemon in fifth grade because it was overhyped and I wanted to find things wrong with it.

I watched Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow because I thought Angelina Jolie was going to do cool things. I also watch Moulin Rouge admittedly simply to listen to people sing.... Same with Rocky Horror Picture Show really...

I watched all of Strike Witches because an author I like wrote fanfic for it.

...Really, half of the things I watch I only seek out because I hear rumors of yuri in them. The other half enamors me with pretty AMVs.

I watched Ninja Assassin because Rain was shirtless in it.
