Undeniably different.
You are different. That's how it usually starts, right? And then there's usually a revelation, a twist. You're a superhero. You're a demigod. You're a wizard. You're a mutant. You're actually a girl. And that makes you different from the others.

I'm not saying you people are not different, because you are. But you may be wondering to yourself: why am I different? I'm just another normal person, living in 2012, on the grand old Earth. I have a normal, or not-so-normal, life. I look like everyone else, and I certainly don't have any special powers. Why am I different? The reason you're different is because someone died. Someone died before you were born.

Well, not really, because, you see, that someone isn't really dead. And he isn't a normal "someone". He was, in fact, a really special someone. Maybe he had amazing magical powers, a brain that could find out the answer to any question on the planet, or a really strong body. But this special someone isn't dead. He's still alive, inside of you. Or should I say... he is you. Congratulations. You're the reincarnation of someone very... special.

RP thread.

Discussion thread.

Welcome, everyone, to the latest crossover RP. "Aw no! Another one! I'm getting the hell out of here!" No, no, no! Wait and listen! Because this one has a really interesting concept.

Basically, all of you will be playing original, human characters. But here's the twist: they are all reincarnations of fictional characters. That means, for an example, that one of the characters can be a bookworm that hates sports and is the reincarnation of Luffy, from One Piece. The possibilities are endless!

Rules:
  • No ghosting.
  • No godmodding.
  • No disrespecting other players.
  • If you’re going on a trip, or your computer is going to be repaired, and you won’t have much time for R Ping, please warn me first.
  • If you want to drop out during the RP, tell me. I don’t want people dropping out and I having no idea they did that.

How Reincarnation Works:
  • Once a character dies, he is reincarnated into a normal human with no memories of his previous life. This doesn’t mean, however, that you need to pick a character that died during the series he/she came from- you can choose any character you like. Except ones that don’t die. If you’re worried about “if X is a reincarnation of Y that means Y died before he was supposed to die”, don’t be. All characters died at the end of their normal lifespan.
  • As the characters will eventually regain the powers they obtained during the past, we don’t want super powerful characters, so use your common sense. Also: you won’t get all your powers from the start, you will have to earn them. If you follow the Super Weight scale, that means that only characters from Super Weight 4 and under are accepted.
  • Your character doesn’t need to look like his past life. Example: if he is a reincarnation of Luffy, he can look like him, have some of his physical traits, or not look like him at all. Same goes for his personality and how he acts.
  • Your character may act, look and think like its past life, but his/her past life will never take full control over him/her, or completely replace his/her personality.

Now, for the character sheet!

  • Name:
  • Age:
  • Reincarnation of: (name and where the character's from)
  • Appearance: (pictures are preferred, if at all possible)
  • Personality:
  • Powers and Abilities: (please choose a starter power and which powers will be obtained later)
  • Backstory: (remember- the RP takes place on modern day Earth)

Accepted Players:

Have a go at it.

Badge Fan
  • Name: Suzie Mead
  • Age: 10
  • Reincarnation of: Godzilla
  • Appearance: "I like my outfit! Mine! No, not taking it off..." She has many copies of it. Honestly, her parents spoil her too much...
  • Personality: A sweet girl, Suzie nevertheless has a somewhat... creepy obsession with reptiles—all reptiles, from the giant to tiny little lizards and everything in between—and possibly the worse table manners ever. She's also extremely clumsy, often breaking things when she means to pick them up. She has many, many soft-toys and they're all rather chewed. Still, it's not hard to get her to be nice or anything—she'll automatically do it. Though she often looks like she wants to eat you.
  • Powers and Abilities: Super strength. You would never guess that this ten year old, if her control was even worse than it is, would be quite capable of breaking bone without straining herself. Will eventually gain regenerative abilities and nuclear breath. Probably won't be able to turn into a kaiju, though.
  • Backstory: Born to a wealthy family, Suzie seemed pretty normal... up until she saw Jurassic Park and went to the zoo. Since then, she's been fixated on reptiles—to the point where even the few relatively normal sets of clothing* in her wardrobe somehow involve reptiles. She also has a pet snake, who she's very careful not to hurt. People in school stay away from her: her obsessiveness is quite... odd and the last person to try anything against her was knocked out in one punch.
She doesn't mind, she's got her dinosaurs and reptiles...

EAT THE RAINBOW
Similar Intelligence. Not as funny.
I probably won't make a character, but just read and comment.

From now on, Shoot For The Moon, or Die Trying.
Because why not?

  • Name: Alata Shiba
  • Age: 18
  • Reincarnation of: Takeru Shiba from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger
  • Appearance: A miraculous storm?
  • Personality: Alata is a direct contrast to Takeru. Where as Takeru was cold, often wanting to work alone, and was generally friendless, Alata is warm, emotional, wishes to work together with friends, and likes to try and make friends with nearly everyone. One trait that Alata shared with his ancestor is their determination. No matter what, Alata will never give up, though this trait was modified by a saying in a show he used to watch as a kid: "Everything will surely be alright."
  • Powers and Abilities: Alata carries with him a samurai sword that seemed to be more like an heirloom than anything, though Alata, despite his personality and looks, is quite competent with the sword. The sword is capable of being equipped with special disk like objects called Secret Disks. Alata, however, starts with none, relying only on his sword. Eventually, he'll gain a Lightning Disk, and soon, a Fire Disk. His ultimate power that he will gain late in the RPG will be the disk that can be used to access the Rekka Daizantou. No word on whether he can use Mojikara or even create the Shinkenger suit for himself, but I'm planning for him not to have either of those, because the former will just make this guy into the guy from Scribblenauts, but with Japanese Kanji, while the latter... Yeah, I don't really want to do another Henshin Hero character.
  • Backstory: Alata was born to a happy family, though its happiness was just an act. His mother wished for Alata to have a fun life, while his father wished for him to take up sword fighting lessons through strict manners. Alata's mom soon died during a heavy storm, and soon, Alata was in the hands of his strict father, who trained him through hell to master the Shinkenmaru, their family's sword. He also secluded him from society, which included dropping him out of school, not allowing him to see his friends, and most importantly, not being allowed to go outside unless it is to duel and sharpen the samurai skills. One night, Alata had enough, and decided to run away. He took as much food and money as he could carry, and fashioned a disguise so that he wouldn't be caught, and for extra measure, said disguise was a dress. He then ran off into the night while his father was asleep.

"And we'll keep on being friends forever. Right, Big Mama?"
Lord of the Avians
Sadly, all the people I can think of don't exactly have innate abilities... They're all rather dependent on their tools...

Undeniably different.
[up] That's not a problem, people that depend on tools can also be reincarnated, since they will eventually obtain their tools.

Suzie is accepted, and so is Alata.

The Grand Re-Vizier
Caught between Spiderman Reincarnie, Kenshin Himura (or a similar character) Reincarnie, or Deadpool (though isn't he immortal?)

[up]Spiderman!

Hotblooded Heroine!
Whee~ Character I tried to use in another reincarnation RP, retooled a bit to fit the whole reincarnation of a fictional character bit. Here goes~

  • Name: Penelope "Penny" Drake
  • Age: 16
  • Reincarnation of: Saber (Arturia Pendragon) (this is barely a spoiler anymore, but...)
  • Appearance: Rather average looking, with shoulder length, straight brown hair and brown eyes. She's maybe a little taller than average, but thin, and not possessing much of a figure. She wears a large pair of glasses, and is most often dressed in a baggy brown sweater and skirt.
  • Personality: A wide-eyed idealist and all around idiot hero. Possesses a strong sense of justice and can't bare to see people being oppressed for any reason. She's rather single-minded about it, though, and won't even think twice about the consequences of what she does, blindly rushing head-on into danger if she thinks it's for a good cause. Something of a nerd; she's an especially large fan of comics and manga. She's generally cheerful, and loves chatting with anyone she comes across about completely inconsequential things such as the weather, how pretty the flowers look, what she had for lunch, etc., to the point that she can come off as somewhat annoying to others at times. However, a lot of this is simply a mask for how she truly is. Penny actually possesses something of an inferiority complex, and sometimes strives too hard to act like a hero.
  • Powers and Abilities: Initially, she simply has physical capabilities somewhat higher than a girl of her age and build should have, as well as an invisible sword that cannot be broken and can be summoned and dismissed as she wills it; she's pretty decent with the sword, but she's hardly a master with it. She is also somewhat resistant to magic, and magical abilities and spells affect her noticably less than they do others. Finally, she cannot drown; not only that but she can actually walk on water as though it were solid ground. Gradually, her physical prowess, swordsmanship and magic resistance will increase in power, and she will eventually realise her sword's true identity as Excalibur, Sword of Promised Victory, which will allow her to dispel its invisibility and unleash its true power.
  • Backstory: There's not much to say, really. Originally from England, Penny's life hasn't been very eventful. She comes from an average middle class family, and has always longed for adventure and excitement in her life, something that never came. She just wishes that something would happen to change her ordinary, average, boring life...

Okay, I'm caught between The Mad Hatter, Beowulf, Batman, and Cthulhu. Yes, Cthulhu.

Similar Intelligence. Not as funny.
Okay, my mind is going overboard with the O Cs, and underboard with the powers.

I was thinking of Nerd who gains James Bond's skills.

I was also thinking of a Jersey Shore style douchbag. No idea what power though.

Maybe a girl with a throughly male power.

And this isn't counting the two ideas for villains (which I honestly shouldn't do as I haven't played their reincarnatee's games) I had.

[up][up]Somehow I don't think Cthulu would be accepted, if that helps you narrow things down.

Yes, Cthulhu.

Ahem.

As the characters will eventually regain the powers they obtained during the past, we don’t want super powerful characters.

'Nuff said.

And this isn't counting the two ideas for villains (which I honestly shouldn't do as I haven't played their reincarnatee's games) I had.

Eh, not a good idea. While on one side, yeah, you won't be R Ping as them, they will eventually appear.

Penny's accepted.

Otaku Cowboy
I would love to join this RP, but I'm not sure which character I should reincarnate from. Can historical figures count too?

I have some ideas....

  • The Boss (Saints Row)
  • Ryan O'Reilly (OZ)
  • Edward Richtofen (Nazi Zombies)
  • The Death Knight (Wolfenstein 3D)
  • Tommy Vercetti (Grand Theft Auto)
  • Claire Redfield (Resident Evil)
  • Ayane (Dead or Alive)

Can historical figures count too?

This isn't Clone High, so no.

Otaku Cowboy
[up]Nevermind then. Which one of the characters above would be best.

I'm leaning more towards the Boss or Edward Richtofen

So...

The douchebag is appealing....

I need to think of a power though....

Which one of the characters above would be best.

It's your character, so I'm not going to share my opnion. It has to be your choice.

Well, my intent was to vastly nerf them and move them into a side-character rather than protagonist role, but I suppose the former is not an option. My bad.

New idea: Guy Montag.

...
I don't expect the Camp Straight (I think) Nazi Mad Scientist's reincarnation would go down well.

...Or given Richtofen's personality, maybe. He is quite hilarious. In his crazy way.

Okay, I have my basic character decided on, but I need to decide his reincarnation. And I suck at picking things, so I would like input.

Four Swords Adventures Link, Amaterasu, Chell, Gordon Freeman, or Aang?

Friendly mushroom!
  • Name: Kane Cross
  • Age: 15
  • Reincarnation of: Roxas
  • Appearance: Here.
  • Personality: Kane is reserved, but as soon as he opens his mouth you can tell he's both a know-it-all and extremely bossy, always trying to take the lead. He's also nosy; he can't bare not knowing something, and so pries into others' business. However, his know-it-all behavior is slightly justified, since he's very intelligent thanks to reading far too many non-fiction books and usually does know what he's talking about. On the plus side of things, he's fiercely protective, and can't stand by while someone's in trouble.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Starter: The ability to wield two keyblades and 'glide' quickly over ground.
    • To be Obtained: The ability to use light with his weapons, summon Samurai, and open Corridors of Darkness (although he can't safely use them).
  • Backstory: Kane succeeded in academics from the very start, in turn neglecting the physical side of things. He has few friends because of his bossy and stuck up nature, and his close friend moved away after middle school, but he still keeps in touch over the phone. He has a decent, but not exactly good relationship with his parents, whom he prefers to be away from even though he loves them. At the end of his freshman year, he's preparing for a summer full of going to the library and eating ice cream.

Life is so much more interesting inside my head.
Undeniably different.
Kane's accepted.

The Grand Re-Vizier
Spider-Man Reincarnee...GO! Name: Gabriel Archer

Age: 17

Reincarnation of: Spider-Man

Appearance: Is this self-referential?

Personality: Easygoing and relaxed nearly to the point of coming off as lazy, he insists that everyone would get along better if we all learned to take life less seriously. Also somewhat of a showoff and a lech, whenever he thinks he can get away with it anyway. He can be surprisingly intelligent and capable if he ever decides to get serious, and he legitimately cares about people in general despite his aloofness, especially towards women, children and cute things of all kinds. Also has photography as a hobby.

Powers and Abilities: Spider-Sense to start out.

Obtained Later:Pretty much all of Spider-Man's powers except (maybe) the knowledge required for webbing.

Backstory:

The heir to a large multinational corporation whose parents vanished in a private plane crash in the South Pacific, Gabriel wound up living with his stern and practically unpleasable grandparents who pressured him relentlessly to live up to his father's legacy and train to take over the company. As such he studied constantly both privately and at high-end schools, barely allowed to have a life outside of being groomed for success. Where others saw the privileged life of someone born with a silver spoon in his mouth Gabriel saw a gilded cage of ever-increasing responsibilities slowly strangling him to death and a life where every aspect was meticulously, monotonously planned out for him.
