The most sinister gentleman.
The Time of Trials Night 1Finally, the sun vanished completely, and night arrived. In the dark of night, Orbkeepers walked to appointments with other people or just sneaked around. Just like always, Ford and his group huddled in one area and whispered secrets, master Gratso prowled the corridors, and a certain group of three drank their tea in quiet, but something was off. A stranger wandered the halls for once.
Faceless strangerSneaking through the corridors, making Lionel made his way to Megan's door, and knocked gently. He'd had a great time today... But he never got around to asking the question he had meant to ask. Which was understandable... It was, after all, a hard question, to say the least... But it was an important one, and he needed an answer. He carried with him The Ideal, the cleaver-like sword he'd made from plastic earlier in the day, in case he ran into anything that wasn't human. He hadn't needed it, and didn't expect to, but better safe thn sorry, right?
I'm nobody, who are you? Are you nobody too?
Classy RosesAndel saw night fall outside as he left the library. He had made a deviation to practice with his bow and just generally wind down. He left the building and tried to think of somewhere to go. He had no great urge to sleep since the days action had left him full of energy even after some exercise. He'd found nothing in the books of great use but it had been a pleasent way to spend the day all told. He wandered the hallways with no destination in mind hopeing that somewhere along the way inspiration or a purpose would strike him.
Someone had to keep Hiei in line right?
okay byeeeeeBillie made her way to the magic lab, orb in one hand and an ice cream from dessert in the other. The hallways were dark but over the years she'd developed a natural night vision that was sufficient enough to keep her on the right track. Not that she needed it; she was pretty confident that she could've managed the journey blindfolded. Finally reaching the room she rapped on the door with her knuckles, waiting for Vann's signal to enter.
Guan YuKhaine was wandering aimlessly in the halls. He'd never really gotten over his discomfort of being cooped up at night, so he had to walk around and do something until he was too tired and/or sleepy to care anymore. Eventually, he decided to go to the Library. He knew that it had a copy of The Art of War, which he'd been meaning to read for a while. On the way there, he nearly bumped into Andel. He nearly continued on with a mere distracted "Sorry." before he recognized Andel and said "Oh, hey Andel. What's up?"
"I am the instrument of justice on the battlefield!"
Classy Roses"Hm?" Andel muttered as he came out of his stupor. "Oh, Khaine, how are you?" he asked casually. He stopped his walking and paused to face the man. "Waht brings you this way at this hour of the night?" he asked genuinely curious.
Someone had to keep Hiei in line right?
Guan YuKhaine rubbed the back of his head awkwardly before deciding that honesty was the best policy and saying "I actually get a bit claustrophobic at night unless I'm distracted. I was just walking around, trying to tire myself out. I just decided to go to the Library; I've actually been meaning to read The Art of War for a while now, and now seems as good a time as any." After he finished his explanation, Khaine said "What about you? You planning anything in particular, or is tonight just "wanderlust" night?"

"I am the instrument of justice on the battlefield!"
Carwyn was bored. It was, granted, night, but as usual he couldn't sleep and the brief patches where he did manage to fall asleep were not pleasant. His scar was hurting and, although he knew the pain was purely psychosomatic, that was yet another problem. He got up and started moving through the halls, no real intentions but to prowl the darkness.
MS Paint? Hell Yeah!"Come in." Vann said, responding to the knocks on the door. When the door is opened, Vann can be seen standing near a table upon which several apparatuses can be seen. Among them are a sealed yet transparant flask of water, and a used hydrometer. Vann himself could be seen holding into his orb, and it appeared to have been used just now. "For a moment, I actually doubted that you would actually come, Billie." Vann said calmly.
vilent walerGreg slipped off, placing the demon horns and his Orb back in his pouch. Greg wandered through the halls of the academy, not quite ready to go back to his room quite yet. It appeared some people were talking to each-other already. Greg recognized a few of them back from the first Trial, but only gave them a passing wave. As Greg turned around one of the corners, he caught a glimpse of a person he'd never seen before. A stranger, wandering the halls? After the demon attack, Greg was rather suspicious. He ran after the person and yelled, "Hey, you! Who are you?"
okay byeeeee"Well right about now I'd be wandering around the corridors like I normally do, but it seems half the academy can't sleep and are doing it for me instead tonight." Billie replied, finishing her cone and then using two of her fingers to flick one of the apparatuses. "So what'chu doing in here?"
MS Paint? Hell Yeah!"Well, you see, I just finished isolating the water." Vann said, picking up the flask of water to eye level, "Inside this flask is water at its purest, with nothing else but water. For me, this means I can control it as freely as my own body." He shook the flask lightly before putting it back down. "I need your help, " Vann said, "I'll use telekinesis to shape the water, then your task is to simply freeze it using your powers. It's that simple."
The most sinister gentleman. The man told, revealing a heavily burned face. "Hmm? Oh, I'm the new security man. Name's Thomas Forge." He smiled politely, but something about him seemed suspicious. "After the demon attacked, I was assigned here to make sure nothing slips in while nobody's looking." He reached up and made sure his hat covered his ears, then turned back to Greg. "And you would be?"
okay byeeeee"That easy, huh? Sure, I can do that. Any particular reason you want me to though?" Billie asked as she started charging up her orb's power.
MS Paint? Hell Yeah![Magic Lab] Vann held his orb and opened the flask's seal, "Well, I have to maintain visual contact with the water to alter its density or maintain its purity, and refrigerators in general doesn't have see-through doors." Vann joked. His orb glowed slightly. He made a gesture with his hand, and a pointed cone of water rose, separating itself from the water in the flask. Two seconds later, it suspiciously resembled a 45mm NATO bullet, "Before you ask, this is for the trials... and the demons." he said. "Well, now's the time to freeze it." Vann said. "By the way, we're making sixteen of this."

okay byeeeee"Sixteen?" Her orb began to glow as Billie leant forward and blew on the water, her breath coming out white and freezing the bullet where it floated. "Lucky I have big lungs then. I'm not at my peak so it's only gonna stay frozen for 24 hours; if you wanna keep them on you then come back to me before time's up so I can refreeze them for a longer period of time."
vilent walerGreg hesitated; should he tell this strange man his real name? Greg couldn't really see any harm in it, so he said, "My name's Greg. Greg Nabbitz. Don't call me Greggo, please. I'm a student at the academy." Greg fidgeted around with his pants pocket. Suddenly, a thought had come to him. "Do you know the Masters very well? You know. Conrad, Gratso, and Gregory - the other Greg? They're somewhat mysterious, aren't they?"

MS Paint? Hell Yeah!"Can't I store them in the fridge or something to maintain their state?" Vann said, slowly lowering the bullet and finally landing it on the table. Then he made another bullet from the water, and raised it again. "Sorry for bothering you like this."
okay byeeeee"You could, but once my magic wears off and you take them out they're just gonna melt at the normal rate, while I can keep them in a frozen state for days at a time when I'm feeling good. Besides, this way you can keep them on you at all times until you see me again, and if they're what I think they are then you're gonna want to do that." Billie paused for a moment to freeze the next bullet, then smirked at Vann. "Relax, I got nothing better to do right now. No other demons have popped up that I'm aware of."
The most sinister gentleman. He shook his head. "I only ever met one of the masters, and it didn't exactly turn out good. Heck, if Master Gratso had expected me to be the one assigned here, he might have changed his mind about getting a guard at all."
vilent walerGreg frowned. "It didn't turn out well, you say? If you don't mind me asking, what do you mean by that?"
The most sinister gentleman."There's a reason my face looks like this." Thomas said. "When I was younger, I was investigating rumours of some kind of demon worship cult, and it turns out Master Gratso was doing some vigilante work and trying to get them as well. We had a battle when we met at the ends of both our investigations, and he won, leaving me unconscious while he went on to face them. By the time I awoke, both he and the cult were gone without a trace."
MS Paint? Hell Yeah!"I see. Indeed, having them not melt in room temperature is very convenient." Vann remarked. He put down the second bullet and shaped the third. "Anyway, Billie. That poem in Master Gratso's safe, what do you think about it?" He asked, curious.
okay byeeeee"I'm not putting too much stock into it if that's what you mean." Billie replied, before quickly working her magic again. "I couldn't even read that well before coming here, so I guess I just don't care too much about written words. What about yourself?"
vilent walerGreg did a double-take. "Wait... what did you say? Gratso burned your face because he didn't want you stealing his glory? That's.... that's just not right! How come you haven't told anyone about this? You should- you should report... report..." Greg's sentence died in his throat. Was Master Gratso in the wrong here? He did stop the demon-worshipers... "Well... I'm not so sure if... if Grat... Master Gratso is wrong here. I mean, he did go to the extreme, but... he stopped the cultists, right? I don't- I don't really think mercy has a place when it comes to what's right. I am sorry about your face, though."
