I'm impressed, but I dislike the liberties they're taking with some of the Brawl characters, and a few of them really don't feel like they belong (Lookin' at you, Lucario).
I hope that this gets more attention; it's a really good effort, and I'd like to see it played as an alternative to both Melee and Brawl at events. The main obstacle it faces is that it's a hack.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Might have to disagree with you there. Lucario is most definitely an unconventional fighter, but also seems to have a degree of Fridge Brilliance. Lucario's a fighting type, so it actually makes sense that he plays like a character from a more traditional fighter (e.g. Street Fighter, King Of Fighters, etc.)
Snake isn't ridicuously powerful, Wario's moves are based more on his original Wario Land adventures, Pit and Ike have tons of options outside of his new Side-B dashes, Sonic is incredibly crazy with the new melee techs, and Lucas is a deadly new force to be reckoned with with the ability to double-jump cancel and up his offense with his new B-move.
I can see it being a breath of fresh air for Smash fans, a game with the best of both worlds— with nearly all of the fan favorite characters with both games. Also, it's not terribly difficult to get Project M running. All a gamer needs is a 2 gig SD card and that's it. No piracy or hard-modding involved.
Also, who's seen the new Skyloft stage that the newest demo's added? I'd say it looks quite impressive....

That... That is gorgeous. I'm glad they're trying out new stage designs instead of just sticking with the same old, same old. It shows some real dedication.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.The background looks great, but the stage itself has nothing else going on with it. Can't they add a few more frills or some hazards to it?
Then again, I'm one of those guys who love stages like Big Blue and the one where Kraid constantly shifts the stage around.
EDIT: Wait a minute, why are several characters missing from the Roster? I don't see Pokemon trainer, Diddy Kong, Kirby, and a couple of others there either!

This mod in particular is being balanced for purposes of Tournament play, which is why many stages are relatively tame with the hazards. The game features a Castlevania-themed stage, a new Donkey Kong stage (replacing Rumble Falls), a Jungle stage (from the Subspace Emissary), as well as a handful of other tweaked stages and stages from the original Smash (Saffron City, Hyrule Castle, and Kirby's Dreamland are all back.)
That said, NOT EVERY stage is going to be like this. You'll be happy to know that Rainbow Cruise, Mario Circuit, Fourside, and Big Blue are still in the game, and it's not like they got rid of all of the items, so they're shooting to maintain Smash's functionality as an awesome party game.
(I do think there's a few bugs with a couple of the items and one or two final smashes that they're trying to work out.)
Also, the Project M team is still working hard to re-balance certain characters (Kirby, Yoshi, Samus, the Ice Climbers, Diddy, Olimar, Squirtle, Ivysaur, Zero Suit Samus, and Metaknight). Also, the Pokemon Trainer is history, I'm afraid— all three of his Pokemon are now completely separate characters.

Fourside was never in Brawl to begin with. Onett and New Pork were the Mother series stages.
Also, I assume Pictochat is still there? I believe there was a debate on whether it could be used in tourney play as a counter-pick or not, and it was a fun stage for casual play too, as it had gimmicks without ever being really annoying.

My standard Anime Theme song game variant rules: [Censored by ACTA]Yeah, my mistake on Fourside. Pardon the confusion. Fourside has replaced New Pork City entirely, I should add.
And yes, Pictochat is still in the game. I haven't heard anything about Pictochat being banned in tournament play, at least not in Project M.
I'll have to disagree as well. Lucario does feel like he belongs, once you compare him to other characters with canceling mechanics, such as Fox and Peach. Regardless, his uniqueness doesn't sacrifice how well he fits in.
Also, Rainbow Cruise was actually considered tourney-legal a few years ago, so it's not strictly a casual stage.

I'll just leave this here...

Project M released 2.5 a while ago, with Squirtle and Ivysaur.
An open mind and compassionate heart are among the most important qualities we can have. No, it's not out yet. It's coming out on December 28th, 2012.
By the way, they're bringing back one of Melee's lost five!

An open mind and compassionate heart are among the most important qualities we can have.So I'm going to install this...
how do I add alternate costumes from hack sites?
Just install the mod. The alternates come with it.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughYeah but if I want to add some of my own, how would I go about doing that?
That I don't know. I guess you would alter the code in the launch menu or something.
On an unrelated note, is it just me or is l-canceling much easier in this version? I've been able to SHFFL around 80% now as opposed to the 40% rate I used to have. Not that I'm complaining, but yeah.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughSo I installed this, and...
I barely notice the differences. The only things significant enough for me to notice are the costumes, Mewtwo and Roy, and the lack of F.L.U.D.D.
Btw, what is Mewtwo's costume supposed to be?
The training suit from the first Pokemon movie.
For Those who Seek the Thrill of Death: A Dramatic SMT3 Hard PlaythroughSnake got a new Side B where he uses his Tranquilizer Gun, and a new Side Smash where he uses his knife.
Beware of occasional bad attitude. I do Fanfics on deviantART. Witness me make a mockery out of myself there, too.Now that Project M finally includes the entire Brawl roster, the mod can be even more popular than before! It's cool that the new version didn't get delayed either. All that's left (if they decide to go and pursue this) is to add 5 extra characters with the clone engine, as well as fix some single player stuff (you can't start Subspace Emissary unless you start a file made in vBrawl, etc.)
Project M still doesn't have Pokemon Trainer.
And it never will. Instead it has Charizard, Ivysaur, and Squirtle.

Where do the announcer's voice clips for Mewtwo and Roy come from? It sounds like the same voice as all the others.
I thought I'd make a new conversation about [1], as not to derail the conversation on the Main Smash Bros. page. So far, I've been pretty excited to have the chance to really throw down and have some awesome matches with friends, and I'm loving the job they did with the character balance and the new advanced techs they've added. How about all of you? Who are your mains? Got any favorite matches, stages, or combos?
