Family Rivalry (children of opponents compete against each other) could easily be an internal subtrope of Feuding Families (two entire families are opponents). Last sentence of latter says it's "quite different" from the former, but I don't think it is.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. So should this be merged?
If we do, we'll have to broaden the description. As it stands, Family Rivalry is the Lighter and Softer version of Feuding Families.
Ketchum's corollary to Clarke's Third Law: Any sufficiently advanced tactic is indistinguishable from blind luck.So fix it.
Specifically, it says "See also Feuding Families, which is a much more serious, often bloody, and frequently tragic version of a family rivalry."
So, in addition to being kids v. entire families, this trope is about an innocuous, one-off competition that happens to mirror their parents' competition, while Feuding Families is more about a Hatfields/McCoys, Romeo and Juliet kind of thing. Pretty different, ultimately.
I don't think it would do this trope justice to call it an Internal Subtrope of Feuding Families. That's like calling a soccer game between Germany and England an internal subtrope of World War II.

How about this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soccer_War (really happened)

Bump. What do we do here? Anything?
^^^ I don't like the soccer/war analogy. It is more like saying the war and the game both involve competition between Germany and England. The degree of seriousness of the fighting doesn't make a hard line here.
The article is four sentences long, and has five examples.

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Another distinction might be that Family Rivalry tends to be more a case of Generation Xerox than anything else. It's more likely to be coincidental, though in that case a rename would be in order.

Only 4 incoming links. This was renamed from Family Feud a while back since at the time, all of the inbound links were in reference to the TV show (which, even then, was in the Series namespace). But the rename hasn't helped in the least.
Why not merge with Feuding Families?
