If there was a Grave of the Fireflies abridged...:

Adveho in mihi Lucifer
Would it cause a massive flood of rage?

Heck no.

It's the Internet. Ideas like that are not to be said, for if someone ever says anything about them, someone else is going to make them happen.

I'm raging at the idea.
Sometimes the question is not, "Am I being misanthropic?" but rather, "Am I being misanthropic enough?"
Hahahahahaha...no, that won't happen.

Not because people would rage, but because it wouldn't be funny. Even if you figured out genuinely good jokes, no one would laugh because the audience would keep being reminded of the original film in all its depressing glory.

I just googled "grave of the fireflies abridged". Unfortunately, it exists. It's a one-shot.

Is it funny? tongue

Two versions: A speed-abridging and a more normal one

[up][up]I haven't watched the original, but I know that it's based on a real-life story. So I haven't watched the abridged ones in any case.

Oh My
God dammit why must the only one in existence suck.

THIS IS THE BEST IDEA EVER. Beyond Mein Kampf Abridged by which I mean never fucking reading it ever.

I wouldn't care, because I don't watch any abridged series anyway.

Now I don't need to watch Grave of the Fireflies.

Up on That Guy With The Glasses, Sage's most recent Anime Abandon has covered Grave of the Fireflies. Usually, these videos are poking fun at the subject; not this one. The remarkable thing is that he has a very cogent criticism of Takahata's intent in making the film. Definitely worth watching.

On the matter of an abridged series, I just don't see that it provides the right material.

And that would be? I'm not able to watch anything with my connection.
People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.

So, if people want a better Abridged Series, everyone who thought it would be funny should go make one. I'd watch it.

If you don't mind me plugging my own blog, here's my summary of it and comment:

I don't know, but abridged is the only way I would watch it because just the first thirty seconds made me want to die.

Really? The entire film made me more than ever glad to be alive.
The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
