Palmtree Panic and Green Hill Zone are talking about what is essentially the same thing - a level in a game, usually quite early on, that is very organic and green and usually very easy.
Sorry, where does Palmtree Panic's description say anything about being green and organic?
From what I understand, Palmtree Panic differs in that it's not always an easy first level — just any beachy kind of level.
Also, Green Hill Zone doesn't have to be by any source of water at all, while Palmtree Panic is explicitly at the border between the land and the ocean. Not to mention I can think of examples that would fall under the latter trope but not the former (such as the final two levels of the NES platformer Amagon - loads of difficult enemies coming at you in droves, and taking place entirely on the beach).

Reminder: Offscreen Villainy does not count towards Complete Monster. Are we sure implied low level of difficulty is part of the trope? Seems like a lot of things to associate with each other at a time.
Anyway, my understanding is that, apart from the "coastal" vs. "not coastal" distinction, a more continental climate might be associated with Green Hill Zone, while a more tropical climate would be associated with Palmtree Panic.
"The Daily Show has to be right 100% of the time; FOX News only has to be right once." - Jon StewartIt's also worth noting that the trope namer for Palmtree Panic isn't actually an example of it, but is instead an example of Green Hill Zone. The former should, at the very least, be renamed to avoid confusion like this.
Clocking due to lack of activity.

Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.The distinction between the two tropes is very clear: Palmtree Panic is a beach level. Green Hill Zone is not.
Merging seems obviously incorrect.
Rhymes with "Protracted."While palm beaches are usually associated with the tropics, calm colourful country aren't always palm beaches, so I agree with troacctid on this one
Relevant quotes: Palmtree Panic: The video game level version of Beach Episode—a level on the beach.
These levels are not entirely Under the Sea, but feature the edge of land and water.
Green Hill Zone: A calm, colorful (usually green), vibrant land that may have tropical elements.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanHmm, speaking as someone who lives fairly near the sea, palm trees and beaches is not an association I leap to. In fact, palm trees makes me think of Los Angeles city streets.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee. We could consider renaming Palmtree Panic, because most of the example don't seem to involve palmtrees or panic.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight! It's got a redirect called Beach Level. It has 147 wicks and 10 inbounds so I could make a case that it's being underused.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCan anyone point to a part of either description that makes the distinction between the two tropes unclear? I don't see it.
Rhymes with "Protracted."It appears to me that the tropes are distinct, but often overlap (in that numerous examples of one also happen to be examples of the other).
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!Calling crowner: Edit the descriptions to make Palmtree Panic and Green Hill Zone more distinct.

"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI did some housekeeping, but I don't see any significant need to change the description. Any thoughts?
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI don't see anything to change in the descriptions either.
Rhymes with "Protracted."Good. I'll lock here.

Crown Description:
Palmtree Panic has a substantial overlap with Green Hill Zone, and numerous examples are duplicated on both pages.
Palmtree Panic and Green Hill Zone are talking about what is essentially the same thing - a level in a game, usually quite early on, that is very organic and green and usually very easy. Even their aversions meet similar classifications - like when a green/beach level isn't easy. They're both Video Game tropes and heck, they even both have been named for Sonic levels.
The topics themselves admit that there is overlap, and indeed there's plenty of it.
The only real difference between these two tropes is that one is said to be a beach level, while the other is not a beach level - but even the examples aren't consistent with that definition. Certainly the two can be combined with little or no loss.
I suggest either merging the tropes, or deleting Palmtree Panic (since Green Hill Zone is more familiar and more applicable to both).
