We actually just had a huge discussion about this. Last I recall, nothing had been done. As of now, I think it should become a Darth Wiki, since Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped is basically Sugar Wiki.
I have no choice but to pretend I am a warrior who knows no fear.It was not strictly about this, and the thread decided that some action was required here.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanExcuse the thread necro, but I just came across this and I have an idea: Between the complaining and the sheer size of the page, why don't we just remove straight examples? Then we can add a note saying "Because straight examples and aversions are both so ubiquitous, please only put subversions, parodies, Lampshade Hangings, etc. to prevent the examples list from collapsing into a black hole."
Extra 1: Poochy Ain't StupidSure, anything to get rid of those examples.
To clarify, we long ago decided that it makes no sense to list examples of Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped, so we sent those to Sugar Wiki under the name Anvils That Needed to Be Dropped. Then someone recently noted that Anvilicious and Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped are the exact same trope, only Done Badly and Done Well, and suggested we merge them.
That discussion was progressing just fine, but then someone noted that Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped's definition page was on main but its examples were on a separate Sugar Wiki page. So when we held a crowner, everyone ignored the thread's issue in favor of merging Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped and Anvils That Needed to Be Dropped - on to main, rather than merging them on to Sugar Wiki, worsening the problem!
Looked at the laconic. Doesn't fully describe this trooe; instead, it describes a trope that being subtle is the wrong strategy to go and charging straight in is the best way. From the examples: "Danny Phantom had several subtle anvil droppings...". Sounds like a paradox.

Definitely needs work.
A lot of examples seem to be more about a work having a moral in general instead of delivering a moral in a extremely blunt fashion or simply stating that a work is Anvillicious, without actually giving any examples. I think it's a result of the description, it is rather rambling. It pretty much repeats itself over and over again with different words. We should probably cut it down and reformat it to a more reasonable layout.

Why not move the examples to Darthwiki and keep the the definition in the main namespace?
While we are at it, I think the name needs to be changed as well. When I hear 'Anvilicious', I think of, well...anvils...not aesops that are beaten onto your head.
Creator of the planet Vexus and DSBT Insani T.I totally agree with the OP. Has anyone read the Family Guy section? It's chock-full of butthurt. I mean seriously; "There is little else in the history of television that is so hamfistedly anti-conservative, anti-Republican and anti-Texan, and every message is delivered with all of the grace of a drunk horse falling off of a cliff." That's some serious butthurt right there.
What I support in this thread.
Ooog. What a mess.
I don't think there should be more than one Anvil trope. Anvilicious isn't necessarily bad; that's why Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped. But whether it's good or bad depends on whether you agree with the anvil, as well as your personal anvil-acceptance threshold (some people are more jarred by a thudding moral than others), and even the age of the audience*. But the existence of a YMMV "Anvilicious but justified" or "Anvilicious done well" trope implies that the basic trope is unjustified and done badly. Which means COMPLAINING.
So: It's a bold move, but I think we should cut Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped, redirect it to Anvilicious, and make Anvilicious a no-examples trope. Examples can go on the work's YMMV page.
Also: We are NOT changing Anvilicious at this point. It's WAY too popular, and there's absolutely no misuse mistaking this trope for "getting an actual anvil dropped on your head".

Either A, we should cut the examples and/or move it to Darth because if Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped is in Sugar, or we could cut Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped and reddict it to Anvilicious.
I don't think this belongs on Darth Wiki. The Darth Wiki isn't supposed to be just about complaining.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdI can see where s/he's coming from - since the page is already the Done Badly counterpart to Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped's Done Well, we may as well make it official.
Personally, though, I'd prefer doing away with Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped and making this page opinion-neutral.
I'd prefer if we didn't have this trope as Done Badly and Some Anvils Need to Be Dropped as Done Well, since that was never the purpose of these tropes. Basically, I'm with you.

The complaining in the examples section is getting really out of hand. Many of them just seem to be bashing on a work (often with really obnoxious, chatty jabs at the creators) because it's not subtle enough or worse, because whoever listed it simply disagrees. The insults directed at writers and artists especially need to go, I think.
