Awesome/ and AwesomeMusic/:

With only 298 entries, AwesomeMusic/ seems to be an underused namespace. I wonder if it should just be merged in with Awesome/. It actually gets confusing with the music pages itself.

Also, if we do end up keeping the AwesomeMusic/ namespace - I think they should have the Sugar Wiki template, since the index is at SugarWiki.Awesome Music.

In particular, for the musical artists pages, we need to figure out how to distinguish between the two. I know we're not supposed to use the pages for including Real Life stuff that happened in the lives of the artists.

Underused? Last time I checked, Nightwish's page for Awesome Music was literally a list of every song they have. The whole Awesome namespace is pretty much a list of anything anyone thinks is cool in anything, and can't be cleaned for fear of violating No Negativity.

I meant in comparison to things like Awesome/, Heartwarming/, Funny/, TearJerker/, and NightmareFuel.

  • Funny/ has 5292 pages.
  • Awesome/ has 4897 pages.
  • Heartwarming/ has 3610 pages.
  • TearJerker/ has 1785 pages.
  • NightmareFuel/ currently has 540 pages - and it will have even more, once the consolidation/clean-up project is complete.

I think the main reason why TearJerker/ and NightmareFuel/ have considerably less than Funny/, Awesome/, and Heartwarming/ - is because the icons don't automatically show up, when you set a page to "work". AwesomeMusic/ has even less than that, though.

The Awesome Music namespace is mostly suited to original music, because it's more easily noticed. You're more likely to think "omg that song is awesome! I need to tell the world about how awesome it is!" when listening to a CD than a movie soundtrack, because there are other things going on. But since contemporary music tends to focus less on the story behind it, and more on the actual music, of course music is underrepresented here, and so is the Awesome Music namespace. At least compared to the other Awesome namespaces, which are abhorrently bloated to begin with.

An Awesome Music entry that consists of, "Literally every song in this [album/soundtrack], " or actually lists out every song on an album/soundtrack, is missing the point of the namespace and could be considered unrestrained Gushing. I would say that it's fine to trim them.

The system doesn't know you right now, so no post button for you.
You need to Get Known to get one of those.
