Ahr riverSerious. Or at least, I want to be.
Hope and despair doesn't matter; it's love!I'm a little bit of both. Sometimes I'll write some excerpts or "plan chapters" from time to time, but I also wish to become an aspiring author someday.
OH LOOK! ROCKS!I don't see going serious as a viable possibility, so this is most likely not going to be any more than a hobby. Yet I'm of the belief that if you take on a hobby, you should at least try to better yourself at it.
Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame.
MadmanI would love to publish and profit from a novel someday, but the majority of my stories so far are written for fun and to show off on the Internet.
Writer's Welcome WagonA serious writer, either aiming for a full-time job, taking another artistic or art-related profession part time, or relying on a partner for income.
It's a hobby that I try and treat seriously.
Fallen PaladinSerious. My wish is that one day I'll be able to quit my day job and get by on just writing. It might never happen, but I aim to at least make a bit of money from it.
You always take us with you when you go
Transformers 4?!Not only serious. I just don't picture myself doing anything else as a profession when I'm older (Currently I'm in that weird phase between between graduation and finding a job that actually makes me use what I learned in my college years)
Easily entertainedI have a job I like more than most people out of college do, but less than I like writing. I'll try and get myself over by way of internet — with a more thorough plan to be concocted when I've got more metaphorical ink on my paper. Basically, if this writing thing just plain doesn't work out, eh, SQL development's fine by me. If I get a decent-sized, devoted fandom, I'll probably still keep my day job, but try and focus on getting more flexibility rather than more income. And if I turn out to be good enough to make a living from this thing, I might just do that. Then again, there's a certain freedom to not relying on your art to feed yourself. I'd like to be a serious writer, but I'm not gonna stake my life on it quite yet.
Cynicism is like salt; you should add just a little bit of it to everything, but it's useless on its own.
Eye'm the cutest! As serious as the Sun rises in the East. Whether I get anywhere with it or not is purely speculative.
Endless Conflict: Every war ends in time, even supposedly this one.
Obsidian ProboscideanI want to be a "serious" writer, meaning that I want people to read my work and actually think it has literary merit or entertainment value (even if it's just a fanfiction). However, I realize that living on writing alone is not a realistic goal (even if you are very good at it), so I will have a day job and do the writing on the side. If I make any money from it, it'll just supplement that income.

I'm an elephant. Rurr.
K-11-2I have no desire to be published. I know the system for it and I do not regard being published as any worthy feat or reflection of skill. That does not mean I do not regard writing as a serious endeavor, as someone could probably figure out from my many posts related to the cognitive and other processes related to it.
ScallywagI'm not sure if I want to be a serious writer or not but I'm visiting other writing forums now for help and advice so I can improve to a professional level.
All Guns SparkingSerious writer. How else will I prove that I'm a man? Also, I'm of the opinion that people need good stories — and if you can deliver, you should. Being able to make money off of that would be pretty cool, but doing it for the people is my top priority. So yeah, "with great power" and all that jazz...and again, as proof of manliness.

I wish I lived in your reality.
WŁtender JaegerA bit of both. I will start to write really seriously once I retire. Until then I will stick to thesis papers and occasional non-fiction.
"I'm going to kill them all, but not before I teach them how to speak so they can beg for mercy while I kill them slowly and painfully!"
PhinaticI want to be a screenwriter when I grow up, so, yeah, I'm thinking of being a serious writer.
Gay bacon stripsI would never want to make a career out of writing just because it is so difficult to make a living on it, but I do it on the side and I would love to get published one day.
I'm looking to be a published writer. How serious I am depends on the work.
Exitus Acta ProbatI'd like to get something published, but I know I'm never goign to make a living as a writer, so I'm not goign to try doing that. Its just a hobby.
His Royal HighnessI would really want to become an real author, although I know it is not that plausible... It is a fun hobby though, at least making up the stories in my head. Writing them on the other hand...
I reject your reality and substitute my own!!!
◥▶◀◤Serious. When I'm not doing fiction I work on my article writing skills so I can political pieces on the side.

Thunder, Perfect MindI care very much about writing, and I should certainly like (and intend) to be a published author, but whether you can call me "serious" or not is another matter entirely.
