Trope seems valid, but the name... words fail me.
It does not matter who I am. What matters is, who will you become? - motto of Omsk BirdAt the very least, needs some indicative redirects.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Seinfeld ended fourteen years ago; so I wouldn't expect a lot of people to get the reference any more. It really looks like a variant of Sign Language, which is completely unrelated. So yeah, let's rename this.
Rhetorical, eh? ... Eight!I know about the show, so the time doesn't matter. It's that of the things notable about the show, the first four letters in the show's name is not one of them.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.Oh yeah, rename needed badly.
Crowner hooked.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerThank god this isn't thriving. If it were, people would oppose renaming it.
Calling crowner in favor of renaming.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.SWAP
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerI propose "The Catchphrase Catches On", or some variant of that.
BTW, DQZ... that's the wrong "weak" in our first post.

Evil is my favorite color.Memetic Language works for me, as it's a specific form of memetic mutation.
My name is Addy. Please call me that instead of my username.I'd like to see some more decisive difference between the vote tallies.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerHow is 6.50 : 1 vs 1.86 : 1 not decisive?
It has shifted between yours and lu's post. When she posted, it was 10-1 The Catchphrase Catches On and 12-5 Memetic Language (IIRC)
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAdded a new option, since The Catchphrase Catches On does not fit well into a sentence and it looks like it's just about catchphrases.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanCalling crowner in favor of renaming to The Catchphrase Catches On.
Waiting on a TRS slot? Finishing off one of these cleaning efforts will usually open one up.Page is moved, redirects are up, discussion is moved, YMMV banner on the new page.
Wicks are moved, FAQ's page updated, Renamed Tropes updated. Anything else?
Old name and redirect on YMMV Redirects. I'll do it.
Done.

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAnything left, or can we wrap this up?
Crown Description:
Vote up for yes, down for no.
While 29 wicks and 15 inbounds isn't horrible, it still seems pretty week for a trope this prevalent.
And the name seems to be a major factor. It's a pun for the sake of a pun, and doesn't indicate the trope properly. It could be a form of sign language that is atypical. It could be a way a character speaks. It could be a fictional language. Or to fit the Trope Namer, it could indicate the terms used on the show, not how fans have turned it into real world lexicons.
I'm on the internet. My arguments are invalid.
