Duh, that's why they're called tuna nets.
They're for catching tuna.
You catch dolphin in dolphin nets, silly.
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)Because if Dolphins get killed, that's unintended slaughter.
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.Yeah, at least some good comes from the deaths of the tuna (tastiness). Dolphins dying doesn't do anyone any good, unless you're one of those animals that dolphins kill for fun.
Like porpoises.
NO TREE FOR ME (ALSO LOVES HER BOYFRIEND)inb4 "because we kill tuna on porpoise"
‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.Yeah, it's pretty much that we're not intending to kill the dolphins (and they might be intelligent enough to be considered people). When we're fishing for tuna, we do intend to kill the tuna, so we can eat it. Calling it hypocritical shows a complete lack of understanding of the situation.
Because we kill tuna on porpoise.
To be fair, dolphins are far more intelligent than tuna and is more likely to be sapient. Also, people do tend to care more about dolphins than tuna.
Finally, there are less dolphins than tunas.

Ira won the thread, everybody go home.
Charlie Tunoku is a lover and a fighter.Oh, I thought they were intending to kill both dolphins and tuna.
If you want any of my avatars, just Pm me I'd truly appreciate any avatar of a reptile sleeping in a Nice Hat Read Elmer Kelton booksAnti-Dolphin Killing Argument: They're intelligent beings. And we shouldn't eat intelligent beings (unless they blow all their money on scratch tickets).
Humorous Counter-Point: However, dolphins are also notorious rapists. People are always saying we should kill rapists, but when it's Flipper it's suddenly unethical.
Also, we need to eat more ducks.
Edit: Added in a Joking Mode pothole to the counter-point since I know somebody's going to take it at face value (moreso than Ira did).

^^^ Not sure if sarcasm.
Not sarcasm, I thought that people were protesting against accidentally putting Dolphins in tuna cans, because people really did not like the idea of unintentionally eating Dolphins.
If you want any of my avatars, just Pm me I'd truly appreciate any avatar of a reptile sleeping in a Nice Hat Read Elmer Kelton books...What? That's really silly. They end up dying in the nets, which they're not supposed to. Tuna nets. Only tuna are supposed to be killed.
No, the dolphin kills are unintended because they get caught in the nets sometimes and I guess maybe regulation screws up big-time sometimes.

‽‽‽‽ ^These are interrobangs. Love them. Learn them. Use them.Dophins are evil animals and peerless predators that do not deserve or need our sympathy. So, fuck dolphin safe nets.
Well, they are predators, and if you remove too many predators it can seriously muck up the ecosystem.
On that note, where are my shark-safe fishing practices? >=(
Be not afraid...And that is why they must learn to adapt and dont get into nets. But anyhow, my point was that I will never understand the fascination with dolphins. AKA sea wolves
That's just orcas. Dolphins as a whole are simply sea gangbangers.

I don't think removing predators is an issue for fishing at this point.
I vowed, and so did you: Beyond this wall- we would make it through.^ It's always an issue if the scale is too large. Ecosystems are effin' delicate.
If it makes you feel any better, apparently there are no regulations defining "dolphin-safe" so canning companies are basically free to stamp it on their products regardless of how many dolphins were killed.
And dolphin-safe practices endanger sharks and turtles more.

How exactly? I know little about those practices anyway.
Eh, I just read wikipedia on Tuna.
Assuming they're right, traditional tuna fishing practices involve searching for pods of dolphins and using huge nets, because tuna like to hang out near dolphins for protection from sharks (I assume dolphins don't eat tuna). Dolphin-safe practices involve fish-aggregating devices, which attract pretty much everything but dolphins.

What the buff?
So, apparently, when Dolphins are caught and killed in Tuna nets, it's not okay, but when Tuna are caught and killed in Tuna nets, it's perfectly fine.
In fact, a while back, in a massive display of hypocrisy, a lot of people protested the killing of dolphins in Tuna Nets by refusing to eat Tuna until the catching of Tuna became Dolphin-safe.
