Does Not Illustrate: Bishonen Line get usage counts

I've thought this seen I first looked at the page, but is Cell really a good illustration of the trope? What the page describes is someone that gets more monstrous and terrible-looking as they get stronger, until turning Bishonen at the very end. Cell starts out as a creepy insect monster, and then gradually becomes more human as he gets stronger. There are hints of this trope, since the last form doesn't look as big and strong as the second one.

An example that fits the trope better would be Frieza. starts out looking non-threatening. then he gets bigger and scarier. then he turns into H. R. Giger monster. then does a 180 and turns into a pretty-boy.

assuming I can put together a picture that looks as good as the current one, anyone else on board with this?

Well, Cell DOES get bigger in his second form, but I agree that Freeza is probably a better illustration.

I have to say, Frieza is a much better example for a page image.

Although I won't call his final form "pretty boy".

The words above are to be read as if they are narrated by Morgan Freeman.
That's supposed to be a pretty boy? I'm talking about either, really.
The Internet misuses, abuses, and overuses everything.

Haha, yes. It's not a very indicative trope name, is it.

Cell, Frieza, and Sephiroth are all good...methinks we need to put together collages of the latter two.

Do we have two tropes here or at least 2 variations of one trope... Cell was Ugliest, Ugly, Meh but buff, Bishōnen.... seems like a perfectly valid variation to the trope to me.
[up]I agree with that. The series had just done a completely straight example in the from of Frieza, so I think they were trying to mix it up a bit so he wasn't just a carbon copy of the previous villain. He fits the trope in terms of how powerful he looks (weak, stronger, then weaker again) but not in how monstrous he is.

But I was never trying to say that Cell doesn't count as an example - just that he's not the most traditional one.

At some point I'll try to put together a collage, either of Sephiroth or Frieza, whichever looks better once it's put together.

Sephiroth's "final" form doesn't really count, since it's just a symbolic Battle in the Center of the Mind.
