I can speculate that it's because those girls look like "lolis".

Also it says they're perverted on the trope page.

I think some of the humour might be perverted, but I've never seen the series.

Ro Kyu Bu... hm. Reading through the work page, it appears to be rather pedo-pandering. Is there anyone here who's familiar enough with the work to tell me whether or not this is true?

Going by wikipedia:

  • The girls are in elementary school.
  • The main character is in high school.
  • Genre is comedy and sports.
  • Started as a light novel, but there's also a visual novel, a manga and an anime.

I suspect adaptations will vary in content, so maybe they should all be checked.

Without having watched/read any of the series, [up] doesn't necessarily have to be pedo-pandering. Yes, I know, Eiken was cut for having something similar, but unless it's confirmed to be used in titillating ways for fanservice, [up] may simply be there for laughs and thus doesn't fall under "pedoshit".

I've seen the anime.

It's either a nice story about a high schooler coaching a group of elementary girls at basketball or a bunch of fanservice wrapped up in a basketball premise.

Given it's seinen and the narrative, while complete, lacks much apart from basketball, it's probably safe to say elementary school girls in gym outfits constituted part of the draw being relied on here.

The anime has apparently been licensed for the US...anyone find any ratings? Apparently, MAL has it as PG-13. Any other sources?

I voted devil head based on the images I could find of the game, many of which portrayed one or more of the girls in very sexual poses.

I actually missed that there was a manga and anime adaptation, so I would like to review those. If they are comparatively clean, I could be open to making the pages anime/manga only.

It's not explicit. I could certainly buy that this anime meets the PG-13 rating, but I think this might be a case where it's irrelevant.

The anime aired on The Anime Network with a TV-14 rating.

Hmmm, considering the anime has considerably lower ratings, it might merit different treatment. It's apparently available on Anime Network.

Also, the works page seems to have been written mostly with the anime in mind. Making it anime-only (and possibly other safe adaptations) will not necessitate a great change, and at the same time keep it apart from the apparently more perverted game.

Yep, I'll try to review some of the anime and manga this evening. I'm not sure if it's possible to change a vote once cast, but we can work out an appropriate disposition to keep the adaptations if necessary.

Cannibal Corpse shouldn't have been tagged. We're not reviewing stuff for extreme gore unless it's sexual gore. And I hate that that's an actual thing.

At least one cover (Eaten Back to Life) depicts corpses performing sexual acts on each other.

Uh, I know this is a bit of a digression, but in case anyone got the wrong impression, Ro Kyu Bu started as a Light Novel, not a game. (Why am I saying this? Because that's yet another medium you'd have to cover to determine the kind of action taken.)

EDIT: Anyway, the anime isn't available in my region. I think some of you could probably watch enough to comment before I could gain access to it via Perfectly Legal Means (TM).

[up] That's what I was thinking. I don't think it's been translated, so someone might have to check the illustrated pages of the raws and assume that the narrative is the same. Or something.

I've been reading through the Mitsudomoe Manga.

This isn't pedobait. This is a story about a teacher with a class from hell.

One character is precocious, and the class hamster gets named "nipples". One of the girls also draws naked people.

Incidentally there is no fanservice. The jokes about pervertedness just boil down to misinterpretation and that precocious kid using inappropriate words (i.e. nipples).

It's surprisingly intelligent for a Shounen manga. I'd place it at about the same level as Hanamaru Kindergarten, which is to say, it would only look bad if you took parts completely out of context and otherwise it's probably not a bad story about being a teacher, if one or two students were all your troubles.

Enough about Cannibal Corpse. It's not what we're looking at. I'm going to give it an angel now and I'm sure the others will when they get around to it.

Somebody flagged Quantum of Solace and Laconic.Lone Wolf And Cub, and re-flagged Ponibooru. Did someone make a mistake with the flag thing again, or do we have another troll on our hands?

I can only assume it's because someone is either A) trolling, or B) not satisfied with the P5's last decision concerning the site's page.
