Eh, forget it. I don't like it, but have your fun if it's any good.
I still can't think of how this one would work. Seeing as how before he joined Ares Kratos was just an ordinary (if excessively brutal) Spartan general, wouldn't that mean this game has no chains, no monsters, and no magical abilities? What is there for him to do? There's no plausible way this can be more over-the-top than III, which is a damn hard sell for a series that prides itself on escalating craziness.

And eyt they'e claiming this will be the most balls-to-the-wall extreme one yet.
Since cows.
This post has been powered by avenging fury and a balanced diet.Ahem. From the trailer:
"Many know the legend of Kratos, the mortal turned god who brought down the very walls of Olympus, but there was a time before Kratos became the monster known as the Ghost of Sparta. A time when something other than rage consumed him, a time when in spite of the madness that plagued him, Kratos would break his blood oath to an unjust god, a time when he would no longer be bound in blood."
Jonah FalconSounds like this happens after he became a servant of Ares then.
Somehow you know that the time is right.I'm not liking the sounds of this so far, I wanted to see what happened at the end of number 3. That's just me though.
I'll be keeping an eye on this.
Ready At Dawn will be forever cursed to make God Of War Prequels till the end of time.
Watch SymphogearHrm... I sold the games before i had the gall to trudge through them and just finish them. Not gonna start all over again.
ALL CREATURE WILL DIE AND ALL THE THINGS WILL BE BROKEN. THAT'S THE LAW OF SAMURAI.Hey, maybe we can have Kratos NOT be an unlikable bastard this time around. But I wouldn't bet on it.
Likes many underrated webcomicsSeeing a likable Kratos... that alone would make me want to buy this.

Or maybe you should know that Kratos was never meant to be likeable by today standards, and was meant to be more like traditional Greek Heroes, who were never liked for their good qualities but their extraordinary deeds, right?
Still doesn't make kratos likable, but it does make sense why he's portrayed as he is.
Watch SymphogearOr that not all protagonists need to be likable.
Frankly God of War's never been about story, it's been about killing greek stuff in really cool ways. I will take any excuse I can to do more of that bigger then before.
I will say the title makes me think this is an afterlife deal.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Except kratos has been in the afterlife countless times. I predict he'll probably be using chain-blades made out of his own blood, like how the trailer went.
Watch SymphogearBut Hades is dead. That means the old underworld is well, gone. With all the gods that governed the world gone it's very possible that the rules have entirely changed.
I just want an excuse to kill roman gods. Is that so bad?
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Except because Romans took so much from Greeks, it's probably that both pantheons are one and the same under a different name.
What would be hilarious is this video happening though:
It's a prequel, so Hades isn't dead in this one.
Somehow you know that the time is right. They overdid it. One thing is showing how gritty the original myths were, but the heroes and even the gods had some redeeming qualities. The ones from GOW have none. Just look at Hercules.
Likes many underrated webcomicsWhen you're playing as them then they should be.
x3 The final bit in that video needs to happen. XD

"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterI don't think they should. I think some games benefit from having an unlikable blood thirsty protagonist, like manhunt or No More Heroes.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I can't speak for Manhunt. But No More Heroes had the benefit of not taking itself seriously (outside of a few cutscenes), it was also pretty blatant about Travis being complete loser outside of his combat prowess too. And even then Travis isn't a complete dickhead like Kratos is.
"I'll show you fear, there is no hell, only darkness." My twitterBut in fairness to kratos, the gods have literally taken away everything he's ever loved and screwed him over so many times he kind of has a right to be a dickhead.
Travis was just weird. and technically, had a reason to be pissed off to.

Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!I think one of the saddest days of my life is when I learned that people consider the Olympians to be Complete Monsters and that I'm in a sad, pathetic minority that likes them.
Never got around to finishing GoW3 because I couldn't handle the butchery of something I loved. As a whole, heard it was a damn good game and had an appropriate ending. But really, isn't enough enough? What is Kratos going to be killing this time, before the original game? The last monster that he hasn't butchered yet? Is it a training montage of him skullfucking Gilgamesh to prepare to fight Ares?
Kratos destroyed a freaking world-ruling religion. What can he possibly do to top that, before he starts down the actual road of revenge?

So, I suppose most videogames today are in bad shape then, without mentioning other medias
