Merge?: Columbine

We have two pages with the same name in different namespaces. I am making this thread because it has come up twice in the Needs an Index thread and the solution was to take it over here.

My instinct is to cut the Columbine and keep the Useful Notes Columbine.

It doesn't seem the content is the same, however. The useful notes gives info about the event, while the other documents its appearance or reference in media.

I'm not sure it's tasteful to have tropes describing that event in Useful Notes, though.

We don't trope Real Life usually, so the trope section can go.

I think of redirecting Columbine and keeping the Useful Notes, since it seems to have some meaning in storytelling.

Hmmm, what have we done about references to 9/11/01 in fiction?

[up]It is mentioned in The War On Terror, but it doesn't have an own page.

Replace tropes describing the real life UsefulNotes.Columbine with its mention in media and get rid of Columbine? Effectively, it's a merge.

[up]Yes, that merge option is the preferred one.

Merge would be for the best, and it'd free up space for Dave Cullen's book and its future adaptation

[up]Rather prevent "shares the name of a work"

OK, do we have the permission to go ahead, or does it need a crowner/more people saying "yes"?

I altered the title to reflect that we are talking about merging the two pages. It has been suggested that we get a couple more responses before moving ahead with the merge rather than creating a crowner. I can live with that.

Merge them. No point in having two articles on the same topic.

Merge. There's no need for the Main.Columbine when there's a Useful Notes version.

If I am counting things correctly, it's now 8 people agreeing to a merge as propoased by lu127. If there aren't any objections, I'll go ahead with it soon.

Let call this one a merge. If Septimus or someone else doesn't get to it today I will look at it tonight, this will be after 10pm EDT.

OK, so I have:

  1. Moved the wicks from Columbine to UsefulNotes.Columbine, and removed as-trope usages.
  2. Removed the trope list in the Useful Notes page and moived the media list in from Main/
  3. Redirected main.

Now, the discussion needs to be moved, and we might take a last look at the Useful Notes page.

Discussion moved. I am taking a second look at the page, the tone is a little, I don't know, like it was lifted from someplace else.

[up]Thanks for the discussion move. You mean that it loks like Wikipedia copypaste? (I'll look myself as well)

I'll put the article on my watch list and take a poke at it later. Calling it done.
