Self promotion time!

I'm not sure where the next chapter of my divergent Fanfiction should go.

It basically asks "What if that window in episode 2 wasn't open?", so right now Korra has never meet the fire ferrets, but I want Mako and Bolin in the story so I'm not sure if I should switch to them Forfeiting the match, or should I continue with Korra's story line and have them come in later.

Not too double post but in the wake of the premier I got a new fic up and out on DA.

Well, considering how it's the sequel to one of the most highly-acclaimed cartoons of all time, it's a given.

I've been thinking about writing a story about a past avatar who was a paraplegic from a very young age. Maybe five or six. However, I'm afraid that people are going to find even just the concept offensive. And then there are going to be some characters with intentionally disturbing and offensive views about the avatar*

We can't have an avatar who can't bend. Why not just force the cycle to move to the next nation? Etcetera.

For starters, I could not give into the temptation of naming him/her Avatar Gimpy (in Chinese).

, the idea of this seems like it's just going to upset a whole schwack of people.

I don't know, though... It just seems like such an interesting concept. D:

It really does; it's probably not enough to support a long story, but a short examination of what it's like to be an Avatar who can't bend could be interesting. Although I'd have to wonder how they'd ever know he was an Avatar in the first place...

He'd probably pick the correct toys. Or perhaps he'd be a very good bridge to the spirit world.

A disabled-during-training Avatar might make the same point, be a better story and give a rationale people could latch on to instead of flaming you into submission for being 'gratuitous'.

I dunno, it sorta takes away from the whole "overcoming adversity" thing if the adversity just goes away later. It makes the struggle moot.

Or if it's that somehow, by training hard enough, a paraplegic avatar could learn to bend normally anyway... Even I would find that too offensive to write. It's like saying that disabled people can't walk because they're just not trying hard enough. lol.

I think you may have misjudged what Ack Sed meant with his comment. I think he was saying that the Avatar became disabled while training to master the elements instead of being found that way.

Most of my Korra fanfiction is an excuse to research the roaring twenties, and various cultures.

So far most of mines been to explore the difference between benders and non-benders but I haven't gotten to the bulk of that yet :p

I can't seem to shake the thought that Zen Buddhism is right up Lin Beifong's alley after reading this quote from Hisamatsu:
