Discussion of religion in the context of LGBTQ+ rights is only allowed in this thread.
Discussion of religion in any other context is off topic in all of the "LGBTQ+ rights..." threads.
Attempting to bait others into bringing up religion is also not allowed.

If I embraced all the starting points you did Elfive, I'd think it was wrong as well. As it is, I don't.
Admittedly, I acknowledge, I can't objectively prove it's right, but I still choose to follow it based on the fact it's held up pretty well in every way for me.
It was an honor
The comments look to be somewhat saner.
Well then, hooray for sodomy!
Schild und Schwert der ParteiOkay, disclaimer.
Becoming Christian does not make one inherently smarter or more intelligent; or indeed...sane.
It was an honor"I believe in freedom of the individual, but I also believe in freedom of the state to limit freedom of the individual."
Uh...I have.
I don't think anyone was suggesting that.

Except gay people aren't flawed. The entire religious argument for why their flawed is "because they are".

METAL GEAR!?This starts to make more sense. Someone who claims homosexuality is a sin and cites the Biblical or any other religious reason for doing so is a homophobe; correct?
Note: question is not rhetorical.
It was an honorWould someone who stated that being black was a sin and cited biblical or any other religious reasons be a racist?
No that is a factual statement that it is against your religion. If you tried to use that in the argument to say they shouldn't have rights that is different.

METAL GEAR!?Depends on the definition of "sin", which is not as cleanly defined as it could be.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this....can I just retread for a moment and say that Nando's is awesome?
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.In my experience, it seems to mean "anything it is physically possible to do".
I find what complicates this issue is the false equivalence of genetic, inherent traits with behavior that may or may not be genetically pre-disposed.
A better question would be, is someone whose religion opposes men having braids bigoted against dredlock wearers?
Chick-Fil-A would mop floors with Nando's, son.

Maxima, do we really need the whole Choice bullshit again?
Even if it's not totally up to genetics, it's still not something most people have any great input or control over.
@Ship: If they tried to make it so that people legally couldn't wear dreads then yes they would be.
Also you didn't answer Elfive's question.

METAL GEAR!?We're not going through any "bullshit" again Matues. I'm not just buying into the popular stance just to buy into it.
That's not news.
I didn't find it applicable. But the answer is...yes, they'd be racist. Although if they weren't trying to stifle my rights, I don't know how racist that really is.

It was an honorIt's not "popular" down here...
But Max, the government is exercising it's freedom to discriminate against me, based on 80% of the population's opinion that I should be a second class citizen. That makes it okay, right?

Morg, I cannot comment on what happens on the planet Alabama. On planet Earth however....
It was an honor@Ship: Still a racist religion than. If a religion believes it is right to treat people differently based on different skin colors than it is a racist religion unless their citing their religion wrong.
You don't know if it would bother you. It is undoubtedly racist if that religion believes being black is a sin and therefore black people are inferior.

METAL GEAR!?Fair enough.
Of course I know. I've had people say crazy racist shit to my face ('They actually let you talk that way in the hood, son?......"You a smart colored boy.") I've had people get tense in my presence. Oftentime, it was by other black people.
I guess I'm just used to zeroing in on someone's deeds. Their innermost thoughts and prejudices are meaningless until they give them vent.
80% is a bit high don't you think bro? And isn't the government expanding marriage rights to include you as we speak?

It was an honor
The problem with using this analogy is that Maxima is completely okay with people being racist, because that's their right.
That and he doesn't care what they say or do so long as they do not directly circumvent his rights.
I draw these views from long term observation.

That's a pretty good summation of my views Matues.

What kind of website is this? I feel like I need a shower.
